This paper proves a theorem which describes the relationship between the placement of beacon nodes and whether the node can be located in 3D indoor environment. In fact, as the highest locating accuracy can be acquired when the beacon nodes form one or more equilateral triangles in 2D plane, we generalizes this conclusion to 3D space, and proposes a beacon nodes selection algorithm based on the minimum condition number to get the higher locating accuracy, which can minimize the influence of distance measurement error. Simulation results show that the algorithm is effective and feasible.展开更多

They allow obtaining higher attenuation and spatial dispersion of both direct and diffuse lighting in indoor spaces, whereas in outdoor areas, the openwork elements reduce surfaces temperature and mitigate the characteristic glare of smooth surfaces when exposed to sunlight. Openwork walls have an immense sustainability potential in modern tropical buildings: they limit the solar rays' admission, as well as provide an advantageous use of natural light and cross ventilation, but the research on their solar behavior is scarce. In order to obtain suitable levels of solar gain, relationships among shape, proportion, thickness and partitions composing openwork elements must be studied. This research evaluates solar gain in perforated surfaces by defining the "solar applicability range", a property useful to identify intervals of guidance where a perforated pattern shape will present a definite solar gain, giving valuable input in the geometric design of openwork elements and introducing shade performance in the design of openwork walls. Results give geometric guidelines that allow to widen the solar applicability range of a perforation pattern and to define two perforation features that have impact on the solar performance of perforated surfaces: focalization and solar performance shift.展开更多

The main goal of this paper is to present results on an experimental field to determine the influence of solar radiation on the internal environmental conditions of different roof systems. Dry bulb temperature and internal surface temperatures were measured in two test cells with different roof systems (green roof and conventional ceramic roof). Their thermal performances were compared on days with differing air mass domain, based on dynamic climatic approach. This research was based on the spatial and temporal approaches of dynamic climatology, from the climatic regime of the city of Itirapina, S^o Paulo State, analysed as representative episodes. Climatic data were provided by an automatic weather station and verified by satellite imagery, and the internal temperatures of the cells were collected by thermocouples installed on the surfaces of ceilings, floors, walls, and suspended inside the buildings. The results indicate that the solar radiation is mainly responsible for the great variations in temperature and its impact on indoor environments, since there were great differences in temperature inside comparing the two days of the experiment. This refutes the notion that the outside temperature is responsible for daily variations in temperature inside buildings.展开更多
