Much debate has surrounded the question of whether middle-school students can learn academic content if they do not yet have a high level of proficiency in the English language, but content-based instruction has already been used to promote both the linguistic and academic development of CLD (culturally and linguistically diverse) students in the grade K-12 in Western countries. This proposal discusses the issues and dilemmas about the curriculum implementation in the EFL (English as a foreign language) education in China’s middle-schools and examines the nature of integrated contend-based (ICB) instruction by providing its rationale, definition, evolution, and delivery, and based on the above, it explores an excellent venue that the ICB could provide for Chinese student’s EFL learning and calls for the application of the curriculum of ICB into the EFL instruction in China’s secondary education. 展开更多

Our framework involves two stages: a preprocessing phase, in which a hand-drawn clip library with mixed architecture is constructed, and the on-line phase, in which the domain dependent language instructions parsing is carried out and clips in the clip library are matched by use of some matching values calculated from the information derived from instruction parsing. An im- portant feature of our approach is its ability to preserve the artistic quality of clips in the produced cartoon animations. 展开更多

While scouting for opportunities, it was found that Indonesian air services market is buoyant and promising where Indonesia has recently liberalized its open sky policies for inviting domestic as well as foreign investment. Time is appropriate for Indian government to negotiate on how India can participate in Indonesian domestic market and provide air services to its consumers. The paper tries to analyze how Indian private domestic airlines can enter into the markets of Indonesia and whether they would be able to provide such services. It further tries to examine that certain value addition services in terms of auxiliary air services are currently required for Indonesia. To that extent, how is India going to capitalize such opportunities by providing such competitive value addition services? Indonesia is currently witnessing frequent air accidents and making safety as a major concern for consumers. It tries to argue whether India can provide technical and other support services to reduce such hazards. The research methodology includes Input-Output Table calculating using WIOD (World Input Output Database) database. This quantitative-oriented study investigates junior middle school EFL teachers’beliefs about motivational practices in the language teaching process.Grounded in self-determination theory,the study examined teachers’beliefs in three basic psychological needs(relatedness,competence and autonomy)and the effect of their teaching experience on these beliefs.Data were obtained from 84 Chinese junior middle school English teachers through a questionnaire.Results suggested that teachers recognized motivational practices for relatedness and competence satisfaction while showing relatively low recognition of a few motivating practices for autonomy satisfaction.Teaching experience was found to have no influence on teachers’conception of needs-related motivational practices.Findings reveal that traditional activities like collective lesson preparations may have a negative influence on teachers’beliefs about motivational practices.They also present the necessity for adjustments on educational regulations,and for modern professional training to help teachers understand students’basic psychological needs,and to encourage new ideas to bolster students’intrinsic motivation for language learning. 展开更多

However, in the field of the concession addresses, the studies on this kind of political text are limited. The winners of presidential election always draw much attention from the world and their speeches, for example, presidential inaugural address has been a hot study topic of linguistics. Nevertheless, the losers of presidential election are always neglected by the world and the study on concession address is scarce and rare. Therefore, the meaning of study on the concession speech helps fill the gap of the discourse analysis. This thesis applies the PDA under the framework of appraisal theory to analyze five concession speeches with a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. This study aims to complement CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis) to emphasize positive social construction of political discourse. 展开更多

As students become more skilled in understanding how language works, they are able to internalize the new language and make it their own.
