The paper introduces two typical models of ecological agriculture: ecological agriculture with commodity and agri- culture with soil and water conservation. According to the local natural condition, the model of eco-agriculture with commodity could be characterized by the structure of “agriculture-byproduct”, “agriculture-fruit” or “agri- culture-forestry-husbandry”. The development of agriculture with soil and water conservation has decreased the soil erosion rate from 12,184 ton/km2 in 1980 to 458.4 ton/km2 in 1999, while the farmers’ income has increasingly risen. Analyses on the two models’ benefits both in terms of ecological and agricultural economy show that there is a great possibility to construct or restore good eco-environment with comprehensive control in the hilly-gully area of north Shannxi. Further more, the paper points out the potential problems of foodstuff production and stockbreeding development in forming ecological agriculture and eco-environmental restoration.展开更多

But scientific research is much less prolific about social adhesion to those practices. How could we be certain that peasants will integrate them and transform their agriculture? It is at that particular point that we settled our contribution. Our goal is to determine what are the levers which could be activated to promote agroecological practices, and, on the contrary, what are the obstacles which could prevent social adhesion to agroecology. The meticulous fieldwork carried in Barani, a landlocked small village in the North-West of the Burkina Faso, shows that all the ingredients for the development and the dissemination of agroecology already exist. Indeed, traditional agriculture is not so far from agroecology. But we noticed among peasants ofBarani a rejection of the local farming system synonymous, according to them, with backwardness, and an attraction for industrial agriculture, sign of modernity. Dissemination of agroecology will have to go through a major confidence-building work of the peasants with their own practices, as opposed to multiple trainings where they are always being taught what they already know.展开更多

Today, generation of new and various information and knowledge sources need new information and communication channels. New information and communication technologies can decrease poverty by promotion rural people access to education, health, government and financial services; overall, they can improve livelihood. The purpose of this study was to identify potentials of new information and communications technologies (ICTs) in agricultural and rural sector. Documentary research and literature review were used as research method. Findings revealed that the most applications for these ICTs in rural and agricultural sector were: E-trade of inputs and outputs, extension and training activities for rural dwellers, advertisement of rural tourism products, knowledge transfer from urban to rural and vice versa, official procedures and geographic information system (GIS) for management of natural resources.展开更多

This stance, however, is contrary to the findings in this paper. This paper asserts that China's experience in reducing rural poverty should be attributed to: (1) its earlier, unbalanced economic development strategies, which gave priority to heavy industries and industrialization and led to the economic boom," and (2) the expansion of non-agricultural sectors, which enabled poor rural households to engage in non-agricultural production. Thus, the key impetus to reducing poverty in rural China is industrialization. Due to its large population but limited farmlands, it may not be a good strategy for China to make agricultural development a priority because its relatively low value added and net profits are inept to promote economic development and reduce rural poverty.展开更多

However, China's sustainable agricultural development faces severe tests such as agri-tech "short slabs" and poor collaborative operation. The 12'h Five- year Plan period will bring both strategic opportunities and challenges. Brisker market demands and more agricultural inputs, a higher technical level and better policy regimes will drive development. This paper dissects these structural contradictions in terms of sectoral structure, product structure, organizational structure, technical structure, trade structure and spatial structure. Since reform and opening-up in 1978, China has followed a growth-oriented agricultural policy to ensure steady yield increase. Indeed, this policy has effectively increased the output of agricultural produce, safeguarded national food security, and enhanced agricultural production capabilities. However, China's agriculture is yet to become internationally competitive, increase efficiency and farmers' income, and improve the quality and safety of agricultural produce. As China's agricultural development enters into a new stage of comprehensive transition and upgrade, it is essential for China's agricultural policy to shift from the progrowth policy characterized by the dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides to an efficiency and quality-oriented policy that pursues green agriculture.展开更多

文摘Agricultural eco-efficiency is a vital indicator for assessing the sustainability of agriculture.Conducting evaluations of agricultural eco-efficiency can provide critical information for policymaking, resource allocation, and the advancement of agricultural sustainable development. While there exists a substantial body of research on the evaluation of agricultural eco-efficiency,its influencing factors, and improvement paths, there remains a paucity of systematic reviews, evaluations, and prospective analyses in this area. This study employed the literature search method to analyze relevant scholarly articles.Chinese literature was sourced from the CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure)database, while international literature was obtained from the Web of Science database. The literature search was conducted from 1998 to 2023.The study reviewed the progress of research on agricultural eco-efficiency and outlined the challenges and prospects that lie ahead. The findings of this study indicate that the primary challenges in the field of agricultural eco-efficiency research include refining the evaluation system, integrating macro and micro influencing factors, and ensuring the suitability of models employed. In the future, the research could expand in areas such as deepening the application of artificial intelligence technology in evaluation methods, clarifying the driving factors of agricultural eco-efficiency,and promoting the green transformation of agriculture. This study provides a comprehensive systematic review and could provide critical information for related research expansion.
