The constructing idea and working procedure for knowle...The knowledge representation mode and inference control strategy were analyzed according to the specialties of air-conditioning cooling/heating sources selection. The constructing idea and working procedure for knowledge base and inference engine were proposed while the realization technique of the C language was discussed. An intelligent decision support system (IDSS) model based on such knowledge representation and inference mechanism was developed by domain engineers. The model was verified to have a small kernel and powerful capability in list processing and data driving, which was successfully used in the design of a cooling/heating sources system for a large-sized office building.展开更多
[Objective] This paper aims to construct an improved fuzzy decision tree which is based on clustering,and researches into its application in the screening of maize germplasm.[Method] A new decision tree algorithm base...[Objective] This paper aims to construct an improved fuzzy decision tree which is based on clustering,and researches into its application in the screening of maize germplasm.[Method] A new decision tree algorithm based upon clustering is adopted in this paper,which is improved against the defect that traditional decision tree algorithm fails to handle samples of no classes.Meanwhile,the improved algorithm is also applied to the screening of maize varieties.Through the indices as leaf area,plant height,dry weight,potassium(K) utilization and others,maize seeds with strong tolerance of hypokalemic are filtered out.[Result] The algorithm in the screening of maize germplasm has great applicability and good performance.[Conclusion] In the future more efforts should be made to compare improved the performance of fuzzy decision tree based upon clustering with the performance of traditional fuzzy one,and it should be applied into more realistic problems.展开更多

In this paper, the process of IT project decision and implementation is fully analyzed, the real options that may be embedded in an IT project are identified, and a real option analysis (ROA) method is proposed for evaluation of an IT project under uncertain business environment. ROA employs Black-Scholes expansion model and cancels the assumption that the cost of project is certain. The numerical example manifests that the ROA can better evaluate IT project and select the IT investment alternative. Finally, a road map is provided to help selecting the suitable evaluation method to make IT investment decision.展开更多
The rapid development of multimodal transportation system prompts travellers to choose multiple transportation modes, such as private vehicles or taxi, transit(subways or buses), or park-and-ride combinations for urba...The rapid development of multimodal transportation system prompts travellers to choose multiple transportation modes, such as private vehicles or taxi, transit(subways or buses), or park-and-ride combinations for urban trips. Traffic corridor is a major scenario that supports travellers to commute from suburban residential areas to central working areas. Studying their modal choice behaviour is receiving more and more interests. On one hand, it will guide the travellers to rationally choose their most economic and beneficial mode for urban trips. On the other hand, it will help traffic operators to make more appropriate policies to enhance the share of public transit in order to alleviate the traffic congestion and produce more economic and social benefits. To analyze the travel modal choice, a generalized cost model for three typical modes is first established to evaluate each different travel alternative. Then, random utility theory(RUT) and decision field theory(DFT) are introduced to describe the decision-making process how travellers make their mode choices. Further, some important factors that may influence the modal choice behaviour are discussed as well. To test the feasibility of the proposed model, a field test in Beijing was conducted to collect the real-time data and estimate the model parameters. The improvements in the test results and analysis show new advances in the development of travel mode choice on multimodal transportation networks.展开更多

Equitable representation by women in the political arena is viewed as crucial in the improvement o...Globally, women now play a key role in economic, political, and social cultural affairs, and Malaysia is no exception. Equitable representation by women in the political arena is viewed as crucial in the improvement of women's participation in the decision-making process. Nevertheless, though women have made and make great contributions in both the private and public spheres, a review of media's coverage of women in the public realm shows a strong tendency to relegate women to mainly domestic affairs. This is consistent with findings from studies on women political candidates' image during campaign issues that showed that though women candidates attempted to present themselves in decisive and assertive ways, gender stereotyping was dominant in the media agenda and persistent biases typical of traditional gender representations in the media prevailed. There is very little research in Malaysia on how the media frames women candidates during campaign periods, or what issues are aligned with women candidates. The construction of images of women political candidates, in particular, is often omitted in most research on the General Election. This study analyses how women candidates were covered in selected Malaysian newspapers in the 2008 General Election. The types of issues women political candidates are identified with in the newspapers are also analysed.展开更多

In this paper,we propose a systemic architecture of network selection based on context-awareness services,which gathers contextual information that includes such network information,user information and local informat...In this paper,we propose a systemic architecture of network selection based on context-awareness services,which gathers contextual information that includes such network information,user information and local information.This network selection strategy considers the Quality of Service(QoS) and user preferences.Also,it perceives contexts such as speed,coverage percentage and location,etc.,and it eventually performs network selection decision making and network execution based on multiple factors.From the perspective of network decision,it presents two network selection algorithms,namely the fuzzy mathematics evaluation method and multiple attribute decision making using the TOPSIS evaluation method.System simulations suggest that network selection based on the mathematics evaluation method is much faster than the TOPSIS evaluation method.However,the TOPSIS evaluation method is practically more efficient.The network selection method based on context-awareness provides an effective and flexible network vertical handover strategy,and ensures a good accuracy and efficiency.展开更多
