The suppression of ground roll waves based on the division of wavelet frequencies considers the low-frequency characteristics of ground roll waves. However, this method will not be effective when the ground roll wave and the effective signal have the same frequency bands because of overlapping. The radial trace transform (RTT) considers the apparent velocity difference between the effective signal and the ground roll wave to suppress the latter, but affects the low-frequency components of the former. This study proposes a ground roll wave suppression method by combining the wavelet frequency division and the RTT based on the difference between the ground roll wave velocity and the effective signal and their energy difference in the wavelet domain, thus making full use of the advantages of both methods. First, we decompose the seismic data into different frequency bands through wavelet transform. Second, the RTT and low-cut filtering are applied to the low-frequency band, where the ground roll waves are appearing. Third, we reconstruct the seismic record without ground roll waves by using the inverse RTT and the remaining frequency bands. The proposed method not only improves the ground roll wave suppression, but also protects the signal integrity. The numerical simulation and real seismic data processing results suggest that the proposed method has a strong ability to denoise while preserving the amplitude.展开更多

Water-soluble Si, Fe and Mn were measured,and electron probe was used to study Si, Mn, Fe and Ca in root cross sections. Combined application of Si andMn could increase water-soluble Si and Mn but reduce water-soluble Fe, thus being favorable for correctingFe toxicity. Electron probe study showed obvious differences of Si, Fe, Mn and Ca in rice roots betweenCK and the other three treatments. The combined application of Si and Mn could reduce leaf oranging andimprove rice growth. Cascading failures are common phenomena in many of real-world networks,such as power grids,Internet,transportation networks and social networks.It's worth noting that once one or a few users on a social network ar...Cascading failures are common phenomena in many of real-world networks,such as power grids,Internet,transportation networks and social networks.It's worth noting that once one or a few users on a social network are unavailable for some reasons,they are more likely to influence a large portion of social network.Therefore,an effective mitigation strategy is very critical for avoiding or reducing the impact of cascading failures.In this paper,we firstly quantify the user loads and construct the processes of cascading dynamics,then elaborate the more reasonable mechanism of sharing the extra user loads with considering the features of social networks,and further propose a novel mitigation strategy on social networks against cascading failures.Based on the realworld social network datasets,we evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the novel mitigation strategy.The experimental results show that this mitigation strategy can reduce the impact of cascading failures effectively and maintain the network connectivity better with lower cost.These findings are very useful for rationally advertising and may be helpful for avoiding various disasters of cascading failures on many real-world networks.展开更多

Based on the analysis of the international backgr...Carbon-motivated border tax adjustment (BTA) aims to compensate for the loss of competitiveness of carbon intensive products due to carbon dioxide abatement actions. Based on the analysis of the international background of carbon-motivated BTAs, this paper discusses the fundamental motivation leading to US policy transformation, the potential impacts of the policy on China's manufacturing industries, and the compatibility of the policy to WTO rules. Carbon-motivated BTAs violate the fundamental principle of the UNFCCC, and potentially conflict with the core WTO principle of non-discrimination reflected in the GATT Articles 1 and III. However, Article XX of the GATT may be applicable. Thus, the author suggests several measures to alleviate the impacts of carbon-motivated BTAs, and puts forward countermeasures based on carbon consumption per capita.展开更多

This method is applied to published 303 hot and 48 cold open reading frames ...A novel method for predicting hotspots and coldspots using support vector machine (SVM) based on statistical learning theory is developed. This method is applied to published 303 hot and 48 cold open reading frames (ORFs) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The sequence features of general dinucleotide abundance and dinucleotide abundance based on codon usage are extracted, and then the data sets are classified with different parameters and kernel functions combined with the method of two-fold cross validation. The result indicates that 87.47% accuracy can be reached when classifying hot and cold ORF sequences with the kernel of radial basis function combined with dinucleotide abundance based on codon usage.展开更多

The emission spectra ...Spectral and photophysical investigations of 4'-(p-aminophenyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (APT) have been performed in various solvents with different polarity and hydrogen-bonding ability. The emission spectra of APT are found to exhibit dual fluorescence in polar solvents, which attributes to the local excited and intramolecular charge transfer states, respectively. The two-state model is proven out for APT in polar solvent by the time-correlated single photon counting emission decay measurement. Interestingly, the linear relationships of different emission maxima and solvent polarity parameter are found for APT in protic and aprotic solvents, because of the hydrogen bond formation between APT and alcohols at the amino nitrogen N25. Furthermore, the effects of the complexation of the metal ion with tpy group of APT and the hydrogen bond formation between APT with methanol at the terpyridine nitrogen N4-NS-N14 are also presented. The appearance of new long-wave absorption and fluorescence bands indicates that a new ground state of the complexes is formed.展开更多
AIM:To investigate the effect of keratinocyte growth factor(KGF) gene therapy in acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rat model.METHODS:The colitis of Sprague-Dawley rats was induced by intrarectal infusion of 1 ...AIM:To investigate the effect of keratinocyte growth factor(KGF) gene therapy in acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rat model.METHODS:The colitis of Sprague-Dawley rats was induced by intrarectal infusion of 1 mL 5%(v/v) acetic acid.Twenty-four hours after exposed to acetic acid,rats were divided into three experimental groups:control group,attenuated Salmonella typhimurium Ty21a strain(SP) group and SP strain carrying human KGF gene(SPK) group,and they were separately administered orally with 10% NaHCO3,SP or SPK.Animals were sacrificed and colonic tissues were harvested respectively on day 3,5,7 and 10 after administration.Weights of rats,colonic weight/length ratio and stool score were evaluated.Histological changes of colonic tissues were examined by hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining method.The expression of KGF,KGF receptor(KGFR) and TNF-α were measured either by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay or Western blotting.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the cellular localization of KGFR and Ki67.In addition,superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity and malondialdehyde(MDA) contents in the homogenate were measured.RESULTS:Body weight and colonic weight/length ratio were declined in SPK group compared with SP and control groups(body weight:272.78 ± 17.92 g vs 243.72 ± 14.02 g and 240.68 ± 12.63 g,P < 0.01;colonic weight/length ratio:115.76 ± 7.47 vs 150.32 ± 5.99 and 153.67 ± 5.50 mg/cm,P < 0.01).Moreover,pathological changes of damaged colon were improved in SPK group as well.After administration of SPK strain,KGF expression increased markedly from the 3rd d,and remained at a high level till the 10th d.Furthermore,KGFR expression and Ki67 expression elevated,whereas TNF-α expression was inhibited in SPK group.In the group administered with SPK,SOD activity increased significantly(d 5:26.18 ± 5.84 vs 18.12 ± 3.30 and 18.79 ± 4.74 U/mg,P < 0.01;d 7:35.48 ± 3.35 vs 22.57 ± 3.44 and 21.69 ± 3.94 U/mg,P < 0.01;d 10:46.10 ± 6.23 vs 25.35 ± 4.76 and 27.82 ± 6.42 U/mg,P < 0.01) and MDA contents decreased accordingly(d 7:7.40 ± 0.88 vs 9.81 ± 1.21 and 10.45 ± 1.40 nmol/mg,P < 0.01;d 10:4.36 ± 0.62 vs 8.41 ± 0.92 and 8.71 ± 1.27 nmol/mg,P < 0.01),compared with SP and control groups.CONCLUSION:KGF gene therapy mediated by attenuated Salmonella ameliorates ulcerative colitis induced by acetic acids,and it may be a safe and effective treatment for ulcerative colitis.展开更多

METHODS: We measured the endogenous plasma concentration of TPO in 40 patients with acquired aplastic anaemia (AA) and in 32 patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) by a sensitive Sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared the results. RESULTS: Plasma TPO concentrations were significantly higher in AA patients (774 +/- 393 pg/ ml) in comparison with healthy control subjects (55 +/- 34 pg/ml, P 0.05). There was also no relationship between their plasma TPO levels and platelet counts. CONCLUSIONS: TPO levels may be regulated not only by platelets but also by megakaryocytes in AA and ITP, and measurement of TPO levels is useful for diagnosing thrombocytopenia and understanding the pathophysiology of thrombocytopenia.展开更多

Meiotic programmed DNA double-strand breaks(DSBs) initiate homologous recombination, ensuring faithful chromosome segregation and generation of gametes. However, few studies have focused on meiotic DSB formation in human reproduction.Here, we report four infertile siblings born to a consanguineous marriage, with three brothers suffering from non-obstructive azoospermia and one sister suffering from unexplained infertility with normal menstrual cycles and normal ovary sizes with follicular activity. An autosomal recessive mutation in TOP6BL was found co-segregating with infertility in this family. Investigation of one male patient revealed failure in programmed meiotic DSB formation and meiotic arrest prior to pachytene stage of prophase I.Mouse models carrying similar mutations to that in patients recapitulated the spermatogenic abnormalities of the patient. Pathogenicity of the mutation in the female patient was supported by observations in mice that meiotic programmed DSBs failed to form in mutant oocytes and oocyte maturation failure due to absence of meiotic recombination. Our study thus illustrates the phenotypical characteristics and the genotype-phenotype correlations of meiotic DSB formation failure in humans.展开更多
