For the very soft clay with high water content, its void ratio, compressibility coefficient and permeability varied with stress during consolidation. It is necessary to use large strain consolidation based on the permeability-void ratio relationship and effective stress-void ratio relationship to analyze these properties. To overcome the disadvantages of conventional oedometer test, and determine the effective stress-void relations of this kind of soil, osmotic pressure consolidation test for highly plastic clay study and the expression of permeability-void ratio are performed. Therefore, the decided properties will be reasonably used for solving the large strain consolidation equation. 展开更多

The Mg-3%Al melt was inoculated by carbon with different holding time.The effect of holding time on grain refining efficiency was evaluated.The solidification characteristics of the carbon-inoculated Mg-3%Al melt with different holding time were assessed by computer-aided cooling curve analysis.The results showed that Mg-3%Al alloy could be effectively refined by carbon inoculation.Slight fading phenomenon occurred with increasing the holding time to 60 min.Carbon inoculation could significantly influence the shape of cooling curves of Mg-3%Al melt.The nucleation starting and minimum temperatures increased.The recalescence undercooling and duration decreased to almost zero after carbon inoculation.The grain refining efficiency of carbon inoculation could be assessed by the shape of the cooling curve and solidification characteristic parameters including nucleation starting and minimum temperatures,recalescence undercooling and duration. 展开更多

The solidification microstructure,fracture morphologies,and mechanical properties of an Al-18Si alloy and alloys modified with Al-5Ti and Al-3P master alloys were investigated using an optical microscope,scanning electron microscope,and an electronic universal testing machine.The results show that additions of Al-5Ti and Al-3P have significant effects on the size and area fraction of the primary Si and the mechanical properties of the Al-18Si alloy.Compared to the Al-18Si alloy modified with 0.6 wt%Al-5Ti at 850°C,when the Al-18Si alloy was modified with 0.3 wt%Al-5Ti and 0.5 wt%Al-3P at the same temperature,the average size of the primary Si decreased from 39 to 14μm and the area fraction increased from 9.5%to 11.6%.The biggest influencing factor on the tensile strength and elongation of the Al-18Si alloy is the addition of Al-3P,followed by the modification temperature and the addition of Al-5Ti.At a modification temperature of 850°C,the tensile strength and elongation of the Al-18Si alloy modified with 0.3 wt%Al-5Ti+0.5 wt%Al-3P increased by 19.6%and 88.6%,respectively compared to that of the Al-18Si alloy modified with 0.6 wt%Al-5Ti. 展开更多

Physical-chemical properties of phosphorous gypsum, proportion and cemented mechanism of slurry with gypsum as aggregate were studied to remove the harms of gypsum pile, combining with difficult problems of excessive mined-out gobs, enormous ore body under roadway and low recovery ratio of Yongshaba Mine, Kaiyang Phosphor Mine Group, Guizhou Province, China. An appropriate backfill system and craflwork were designed, using shattering milling method to crush gypsum, double-axles mixing and strong activation mixing way to mix slurry, cemented slurry and mullock backfill alternately process. The results show that gypsum is fit for backfilling afterwards by adding fly ash, though it is not an ideal aggregate for fine granule and coagulate retardation. The suggested dosage (the mass ratio of cement to fly ash to gypsum) is 1:1:6-1:1:8 with mass fraction of solid materials 60%-63%. Slurry is transported in suspend state with non-plastic strength, and then in concretion state after backfilling. The application to mine shows the technology is feasible, and gypsum utilization ratio is up to 100%. Transportation and backfill effect is very good for paste-like slurry and drenching cemented slurry into mullock, and the compressive strength and recovery ratio are 2.0 MPa and 82.6%, respectively, with the maximum subsidence of surface only 1.307 mm. Furthermore, the investment of system is about 7 × 10^6 yuan (RMB), only 1/10 of that of traditional paste backfill system. 展开更多

Solidification structure is critical in the control of the mechanical properties and quality during the continuous casting process. The thermo-physical properties of 13 Cr steel added some rare metals, such as Mo, V, Nb, are measured to better understand the solidification structure of 13 Cr bloom. A computational model using CA-FE(cellular automation-finite element) method coupled with heat transfer model is developed to describe the solidification structure in continuous casting process. It is found that the calculated solidification structure is in good agreement with the observed data. The influence of casting speed and superheat on the solidification structure of the bloom is studied in detail. In order to obtain more equiaxed crystal ratio and low degree of the segregation in the bloom, the optimized casting speed 0.6 m/min and superheat less than 25 °C are determined for the caster. Using the optimized manufacturing parameters, these samples are 60% with the equiaxed zone ratio of 8%–10% and below the degree of segregation 1.05. 展开更多

Multi-methodological Approach to Evaluate Performances of Mucoadhesive Oral Gel Based on Nanoparticles

Oral mucositis due to chemotherapy and irradiation continues to be an important clinical problem. The effectiveness of hyaluronic acid-based compounds in accelerated healing and helping manage pain in patients with oral mucositis was demonstrated. It was investigated a protective and regenerative effect of hyaluronic acid based gel formulation enriched with NAG (N-acetyl glucosamine) loaded solid lipid nanoparticles against degenerative process of the oral mucosa. Gel formulations were obtained by adding sHA (sodium hyaluronate) into SLN aqueous suspension. Gel performances were evaluated by multi-methodological approach: mucoadhesive and barrier properties evaluation, cell viability. It was shown that gel formulation based sHA, enriched with NAG loaded SLNs, when added as suspension, demonstrated to have a good mucoadhesion profile comparable in terms of tensile work and fracture strength to Carbomer 934 2%. The presence of NAG encapsulated and not in gel formulation enhances also the biocompatibility of the system, demonstrating also to have a proliferative effect. Finally, any barrier property was altered. Finally, results demonstrated that sHA based gel formulation enriched SLNs, demonstrated good mucoadeshion property, comparable to carbopol gel, positive control. The proposed gel formulation enriched with SLNs setting up in this work could be used as innovation strategy to treat oral mucositis. 展开更多
