The use of diffusers around the horizontal-axis wind turbines has been widely studied since the diffuser improves the power coefficient of the turbine and it is often called DAWTs (diffuser augmented wind turbines).... The use of diffusers around the horizontal-axis wind turbines has been widely studied since the diffuser improves the power coefficient of the turbine and it is often called DAWTs (diffuser augmented wind turbines).Turbines using diffuser are called DWATs (Diffuser Augmented Turbines),and have efficiency bigger than the Betz limit (maximum energy flow extracted = 59.26%). Thus, this study presents a mathematical model describing the behavior of the velocity profile internally to a diffuser according to the characteristics of flow and geometry of a conical diffuser. The film cooling performance of a trunk-branch hole is investigated by numerical simulation in this paper. The geometry of the hole is a novel cooling concept, which controls the vortices-pair existing at the mink hole outlet using the injection of the branch hole. The trunk-branch holes require easily machinable round hole as compared to the shaped holes. The flow cases were considered at the blowing ratios of 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0. At the low blowing ratio of 0.5, the vortices-pair at the outlet of the trunk hole is reduced and the laterally coverage of the film is improved. At the high blowing ratio of 2.0, the vortices-pair is killed by the vortex which is produced by the injection of the branch hole. The flow rate of the two outlets becomes more significantly different when the blowing ratio increases from 0.75 to 2.0. The discharge coefficients increase 0.15 and the laterally averaged film effectiveness improve 0.2 as compared to the cylindrical holes. The optimal blowing ratios occur at M=1.0 or M= 1.5 according to the various locations downstream of the holes. 展开更多

Experimental and numerical researches were conducted to investigate the cooling performance of a single row of consoles (converging slot-hole) on a large-scale flat-plate model. The results show that the coolant flow from a row of consoles shows good lateral uniformity of adiabatic effectiveness, with regions of slightly enhanced cooling occurring between the consoles. For the console cooling geometry, the interaction between coolant jet from inclined console and the mainstream flow results in reasonable vortices configuration. A pair of counter rotating vortices originate from the edge of slot, not from the centerline of film holes and the rotating direction is contrary to conventional cylindrical hole. The heat transfer coefficient ratio is a tittle bigger for the console case than conventional cylindrical hole, and the discharge coefficient for a console is larger than that for cylindrical film cooling hole. 展开更多
