Numerical results are compared with NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) results. Analysis results show that the outer wall temperature, the melting ratio of PCM and the temperature gradient of PCM canister, have great difference in different void cavity distribution. The form of void distribution has a great effect on the process of phase change. Based on simulation results under the model of improved void cavity distribution, phase change heat transfer process in thermal storage container is analyzed. The main goal of the improved designing for PCM canister is to take measures in reducing the concentration distribution of void cavity by adding some foam metal into phase change material.展开更多

The governing physical problem is modelled and transformed into a set of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations by suitable similarity transformation, which are solved numerically with the help of shooting method keeping the convergence control of 10^(-5) in computations. Influence of pertinent physical parameters on normal, tangential velocity profiles and temperature are expressed through graphs. Physical quantities of interest such as skin friction coefficients and local heat flux are investigated numerically.展开更多

Crystal structural analysis shows that in addition to van der Waals' forces, conventional N-H..-O hydrogen bonds are the key interactions. Measurements of unit cell parameters versus temperature show that the values of one of the three axes and the crystal volume change abruptly and remarkably at 220 K, indicating a first-order phase transition. The lack of the mirror plane in the low temperature structure is the most important differences between the two structural forms. Dif- ferential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement confirms that I undergoes a reversible phase transition at about 220 K with a thermal hysteresis of 3.5 K. The relatively large latent heat makes 1 a good candidate for phase change materials. The phase transition is accompanied by an anomaly of dielectric constant during heating and cooling process near the phase transition temperature.展开更多
