The APSO survey results indicate that the time series of APSO with different time-sections are periodical and self-similar, and the fluctuation of the APSO increases with the decrease in time-sections. Taking the short-time change behavior into account, an APSO forecasting model combined wavelet analysis and a weighted Markov chain is presented. In this model, an original APSO time series is first decomposed by wavelet analysis, and the results include low frequency signals representing the basic trends of APSO and several high frequency signals representing disturbances of the APSO. Then different Markov models are used to forecast the changes of low and high frequency signals, respectively. Finally, integrating the predicted results induces the final forecasted APSO. A case study verifies the applicability of the proposed model. The comparisons between measured and forecasted results show that the model is a competent model and its accuracy relies on real-time update of the APSO database.展开更多

The framework is developed based on a thorough analysis of the scientific literature and with reference to significant reported case studies for which a consistent dataset of continuous displacement measurements is available. Three distinct trends of movement are defined to characterize the kinematic behavior of the active stages of slow-moving landslides in a velocity-time plot: a linear trend-type I, which is appropriate for stationary phenomena; a convex shaped trend-type II, which is associated with rapid increases in pore water pressure due to rainfall, followed by a slow decrease in the groundwater level with time; and a concave shaped trend-type III, which denotes a non-stationary process related to the presence of new boundary conditions such as those associated with the development of a newly formed local slip surface that connects with the main existing slip surface. Within the proposed framework, a model is developed to forecast future displacements for active stages of trend-type II based on displacement measurements at the beginning of the stage. The proposed model is validated by application to two case studies.展开更多

The method is composed of three departs: human behavior decomposition, human behavior case representation and case-based reasoning. The new approach was proposed to decompose behavior into sub-behaviors that are easier to recognize using a saliency-based visual attention model. New representation of behavior was introduced, in which the sub-behavior and the associated time characteristic of sub-behavior were used to represent behavior case. In the process of case-based reasoning, apart from considering the similarity of basic sub-behaviors,order factor was proposed to measure the similarity of a time order among the sub-behaviors and span factor was used to measure the similarity of duration time of each sub-behavior, which makes the similarity calculations more rational and comprehensive.Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in comparison with other related works and can run in real-time for the recognition of suspicious behaviors.展开更多

Firstly, the basic theory of leakage detection and location was introduced. Then the physical relationship between instantaneous energy and structural state variation of a system was analyzed theoretically. With HILBERT-HUANG transformation (HHT), the instantaneous energy distribution feature of an unstable acoustic signal was obtained. According to the relative contribution method of the instantaneous energy, the noise in signal was eliminated effectively. Furthermore, in order to judge the leakage, the typical characteristic of the instantaneous energy of signal in the input and output end was discussed using correlative analysis. A number of experiments were carried out to classify the leakage from normal operations, and the results show that the leakages are successfully detected and the average recognition rate reaches 93.3% among three group samples. It is shown that the method using acoustic technique with IED and correlative analysis is effective and it may be referred in other pipelines.展开更多

The effect of the solvent on the spectral properties and dipole moment of the lowest excited state of C343 were investigated. It was found that the absorption and fluorescence spectra red-shifted slightly and strongly with increasing solvent polarity, respectively, because the charge distribution of the excited state leaded to the increasing difference between the absorption and fluorescence spectra with increasing solvent polarity. The dipole moment of the lowest excited state of C343 was determined from solvatochromic measurements and the quantum chemical calculation, and the results obtained from these two methods were fully consistent. Investigations of the time-resolved fluorescence of C343 in different solvents indicated that the fluorescence lifetimes increased nearly linearly with 4.45 ns in water. This can be ascribed between C343 and hydrogen donating increasing solvent polarity from 3.09 ns in toluene to to the intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions solvents展开更多

Moisture changes have a great negative effect on both the musical quality of wooden musical instruments and limit the length of time they can be played without loss of musical quality. It is possible to stabilize both the wood and the vibrational properties by chemically modifying the wood. One technology that can do this is the reaction of wood with acetic anhydride. Acetylation of wood slightly increases density, and slightly (about 5%) reduces both sound velocity and sound absorption when compared to unreactedwood. Acetylation does not change the acoustic converting efficiency. Acetylation reduces the amount of moisture in the cell wall decreasing the effect of moisture on the viscose properties of wood. This allows a wooded musical instrument to be played longer without having to let it dry out. This gives an instrument made from acetylated wood a greater range of moisture conditions it can be played in without losing tone quality. Acetylation also greatly stabilizes the physical dimensions of the wood. The major effect of acetylation of wood, therefore, is to stabilize acoustic properties. The technology can be applied to almost any wood though more easily to permeable types so non-traditional wood species can be used. A violin, a piano soundboard, a guitar, a recorder, a bagpipe chanter, and trumpet and trombone mouthpieces have been made using acetylated wood with very positive results. Several more wooden instruments made from acetylated wood are presently being made for further testing and early market development.展开更多

The results are summarized as follows: (1) Temporally, we use regressive analysis and FFT analysis to analyze the data. The results show that the Z component daily ranges of all stations have an obvious cyclical variation, the computed Fourier spectra of all data sets have clearly resolved the required periodicities in the data, in the form of distinct peaks at days 365, 183, 22, and 73, and the power spectra of day 365 is the highest in all periods. (2) In terms of spatial variation, the daily ranges show nonlinear variation with latitude in China. The results show the existence of a point of inflexion (maximal value point) nearby at about 25°N, the daily ranges of Z rise from 15°~25°N and have a good linear decrease variation along with 25°~50°N. (3) Compared with the spatial and temporal variations of Z daily ranges with the Sq current inversion, we found that the spatial and temporal characteristics of Z ranges are decided mainly by the spatio-temporal evolution of the Sq current system. (4) If the latitudes of the maximum amplitudes of variation of the vertical component in the geomagnetic quiet days are roughly taken as the latitudes corresponding to the foci of Sq overhead current system, we can see that these latitudes of foci become higher in summer, are lowest in winter and highest during Equinoxes, displaying conspicuous monthly and daily variations. For two successive geomagnetic quiet days, the latitudes of foci may vary ten degrees.展开更多

In this paper, the transient behavior of a prototype centrifugal pump with an open impeller during rapid startup period is studied experimentally. The variations of the rotational speed, flow rate, head, and shaft power during rapid startup period are recorded in ex- periments at different discharge valve openings. In addition, the non-dimensional flow rate and head are also used to analyze the transient behavior. The research result shows that the rise characteristic of the rotational speed is not basically changed by working points, while mainly depends on the startnp characteristics of the driving motor. Compared with the rapid rise of the rotational speed, the flow rate rises slowly in the initial stage of startup. Moreover, the flow rate lags behind the rotational speed to rise to final stable value, and the delay becomes more severe with the increase of the discharge valve opening. The shaft power impact phenomenon generally exists in the process of startup. The non-dimensional analysis shows that the non-dimensional head is very high at the very beginning of startup, and quickly falls to the minimum, then gradually rises to final stable value, while the non-dimensional flow rate always shows the rise tendency during whole startup period. In conclusion, it is found from the non-dimensional results that the quasi-steady analysis is unable to accurately assess the transient flow during startup period.展开更多

The stability of the trivial equilibrium of the net- work is analyzed and the condition for the existence of Hopf bifurcation is obtained by discussing the associated characteristic equation. Hopf bifurcation is investigated by using the perturbation scheme without the norm form theory and the center man- ifold theorem. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the theoretical results and chaotic behaviors are observed. Phase plots, time history plots, power spectra, and Poincar6 section are presented to confirm the chaoticity. To the best of our knowledge, the chaotic behavior in this paper is new to the previously published works.展开更多

The effects of pulse characteristics and the fiber dispersion parameters on propagation characteristics of the chirped soliton pulse are numerically investigated in the CDFF by the split-step Fourier method (SSFM). The unchirped soliton pulse can stably propagate with unchanged pulse width in the CDFE The temporal full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the chirped soliton performs a damped oscillation with the increase of propagation distance. The period and amplitude of the oscillation increase with the increase of the chirp parameter |C|. The effect of high-order dispersion (β3-β6) on soliton propagation characteristics can be neglected. The soliton pulse slightly broadens with the increase of propagation distance and still maintains soliton characteristics when the fiber loss (ATT) is further considered. The variation of root-meansquare (RMS) spectral width with propagation distance is opposite to that of the temporal width. The output spectrum of soliton has a single peak for the unchirped case, while has multi-peak for chirped case. The temporal width of the soliton obviously increases with the increase of the initial width, decreases with the increase of dispersion peakD0 of the fiber, and slightly increases with the decrease of dispersion coefficients k1 and k2 of the fiber.展开更多

In conclusion, it is found from the non-dimensional results that the quasi-steady analysis is unable to accurately assess the transient flow during startup period.

文摘In this paper, inertia is added to a simplified neuron system with time delay. To the best of our knowledge, the chaotic behavior in this paper is new to the previously published works.

文摘Mining the inherent persistence property of the time series of wind power is crucial for forecasting and controlling wind power.Few common methods exist that can fully depict and quantify the persistence property.Based on the definition of the active power output state of a wind farm, this paper describes the statistical persistence property of the duration time and state transition.Based on the results of our analysis of significant amounts of wind power field measurements,it is found that the duration time of wind power conforms to an inverse Gaussian distribution.Additionally, the state transition matrix of wind power is discovered to yield a ridge property, the gradient of which is related to the time scale of interest.A systemaic methodology is proposed accordingly, allowing the statistical characteristics of the wind power series to be represented appropriately.

文摘We propose the sub-picosecond chirped soliton pulse propagation in copcave-dispersion-flattened fibers (CDFF). The temporal width of the soliton obviously increases with the increase of the initial width, decreases with the increase of dispersion peakD0 of the fiber, and slightly increases with the decrease of dispersion coefficients k1 and k2 of the fiber.

文摘A new scheme for fabricating a kind of flexible semiconductor micro-laser is put forward. And the optical properties of this kind of flexible semiconductor laser are investigated by the finite difference time domain(FDTD) method. The results show that the light should be localized by photonic crystals(PCs),and the interaction between light and gain medium should be enhanced, while the mode of laser should be modulated. These results indicate that the PCs could control the spontaneous emission, and lead the radiation emission to the needed frequency.
