A lattice fluid model, Sanchez-Lacombe equation, is used to predict the phase behavior for a styrene/CO2/polystyrene ternary sys-tem. The binary parameters involved in the equation were optimized using experimental data. Phase diagrams and the distribution coefficients of styrene between polymer phase and fluid phase are obtained over a wide range of pressure, temperature and composition. The analysis of ter-nary phase diagrams indicates that this system at relatively high pressure or low temperature may display two-phase equilibrium, and at low pressures or high temperatures three-phase equilibrium may appear. The distribution coefficients of styrene between the fluid phase and the polymer phase increase asymptotically to unity when the concentration of styrene increases. The results provide thermodynamic knowledge for further exploitation of supercritical carbon dioxide assisted devolatilization and impregnation. 展开更多

The parabolized stability equation (PSE) was derived to study the linear stability of particle-laden flow in growing Blasius boundary layer. The stability characteristics for various Stokes numbers and particle concentrations were analyzed after solving the equation numerically using the perturbation method and finite difference. The inclusion of the nonparallel terms produces a reduction in the values of the critical Reynolds number compared with the parallel flow. There is a critical value for the effect of Stokes number, and the critical Stokes number being about unit, and the most efficient instability suppression takes place when Stokes number is of order 10. But the presence of the nonparallel terms does not affect the role of the particles in gas. That is, the addition of fine particles (Stokes number is much smaller than 1) reduces the critical Reynolds number while the addition of coarse particles (Stokes number is much larger than 1) enhances it. Qualitatively the effect of nonparallel mean flow is the same as that for the case of plane parallel flows. 展开更多

The influences of the mask wall angle on the current density distribution,shape of the evolving cavity and machining accuracy were investigated in electrochemical machining(ECM) by mask.A mathematical model was developed to predict the shape evolution during the ECM by mask.The current density distribution is sensitive to mask wall angle.The evolution of cavity is determined by the current density distribution of evolving workpiece surface.The maximum depth is away from the center of holes machined,which leads to the island appearing at the center of cavity for mask wall angles greater than or equal to 90°(β≥90°).The experimental system was established and the simulation results were experimentally verified.The results indicate that the simulation results of cavity shape are consistent with the actual ones.The experiments also show that the repetition accuracy of matrix-hole for β≥90° is higher than that for β<90°.A hole taper is diminished,and the machining accuracy is improved with the mask wall angle increasing. 展开更多

A stripping batch distillation column is preferred when the amount of the light component in the feed is small and the products are to be recovered at high purity. The operation modes of a batch stripping are believed to be the same as those of a rectifier. However, the control system of a stripper is different. In this paper, we explore three different control methods with Hysys (Hyprotech Ltd. 1997) for a batch stripper. The main difference is the control scheme for reboiler liquid level: (a) controlled by reflux flow; (b) controlled by reboiler heat duty; (c) controlled by bottom product flow. The main characteristics of operating a batch stripper with different control scheme are presented in this paper. Guidelines are provided for the startup of a batch stripper, the effects of somecontrol tuning parameters on the column performance are discussed. 展开更多

With the great commercial success of several IPTV (internet protocal television) applications, PPLive has received more and more attention from both industry and academia. At present, PPLive system is one of the most popular instances of IPTV applications which attract a large number of users across the globe; however, the dramatic rise in popularity makes it more likely to become a vulnerable target. The main contribution of this work is twofold. Firstly, a dedicated distributed crawler system was proposed and its crawling performance was analyzed, which was used to evaluate the impact of pollution attack in P2P live streaming system. The measurement results reveal that the crawler system with distributed architecture could capture PPLive overlay snapshots with more efficient way than previous crawlers. To the best of our knowledge, our study work is the first to employ distributed architecture idea to design crawler system and discuss the crawling performance of capturing accurate overlay snapshots for P2P live streaming system. Secondly, a feasible and effective pollution architecture was proposed to deploy content pollution attack in a real-world P2P live streaming system called PPLive, and deeply evaluate the impact of pollution attack from following five aspects:dynamic evolution of participating users, user lifetime characteristics, user connectivity-performance, dynamic evolution of uploading polluted chunks and dynamic evolution of pollution ratio. Specifically, the experiment results show that a single polluter is capable of compromising all the system and its destructiveness is severe. 展开更多

A numerical method was developed to directly simulate the compressible, particle-laden turbulent jets.The fourth order compact finite difference schemes were used to discretize the space derivatives. The Lagrangian method was adopted to simulate the particle motion based on one-way coupling. It is found that the turbulent intensity profiles attain self-similar status in the jet downstream regions. At the Stokes number of 1, particles are concentrated largely in the outer boundaries of the large-scale vortex structures with the most uneven distribution and the widest dispersion in the lateral direction. Particles at the much smaller Stokes numbers are distributed evenly in the flow field, and the lateral dispersion is also considerable. Distribution of particles at much larger Stokes numbers is more uniform and the lateral dispersion becomes small. In addition, the inflow conditions have different effects on the particle dispersion. The direct numerical simulation (DNS) results accord with the previous experiments and numerical studies. 展开更多

In a rectangular fluidized bed combustor, the tracer gas is injected continuously into the bed from a point source at the center of the distributor plate. In this study, a general governing equation is formulated for tracer gas dispersion in the bed. An analytical solution is derived to estimate the dispersion coefficients, Dxand Dy, in a horizontal plane. The concentration profiles at different sampling heights with various gas velocities are plotted.Subsequently, to estimate the dispersion coefficients, surface fitting of the obtained analytical solution to the experimental data is performed. The dispersion coefficients obtained from this model are compared with those of a conventional model. Additionally, the effect of walls, bed height and gas injection rate on the dispersion coefficients in a horizontal plane is investigated, and the effect of distributor design on the dispersion coefficients in a horizontal plane is investigated with different tracer positions. It is found that Dxand Dyare nearly equivalent at a lower tracer gas ratio of the injected gas to the total gas flow rate. It is also demonstrated that the effect of bed height on Dxis minor. This model is also able to estimate the dispersion coefficients in the case of a multihorizontal nozzle distributor. 展开更多

Spatial and Temporal Variations of Daily Ranges of the Geomagnetic Vertical Component in the Chinese Mainland

In this paper, we use the daily ranges of the vertical magnetic intensity of approximately 76 geomagnetic stations from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2010 to analyze the spatial and temporal characteristics of Z ranges. The results are summarized as follows: (1) Temporally, we use regressive analysis and FFT analysis to analyze the data. The results show that the Z component daily ranges of all stations have an obvious cyclical variation, the computed Fourier spectra of all data sets have clearly resolved the required periodicities in the data, in the form of distinct peaks at days 365, 183, 22, and 73, and the power spectra of day 365 is the highest in all periods. (2) In terms of spatial variation, the daily ranges show nonlinear variation with latitude in China. The results show the existence of a point of inflexion (maximal value point) nearby at about 25°N, the daily ranges of Z rise from 15°~25°N and have a good linear decrease variation along with 25°~50°N. (3) Compared with the spatial and temporal variations of Z daily ranges with the Sq current inversion, we found that the spatial and temporal characteristics of Z ranges are decided mainly by the spatio-temporal evolution of the Sq current system. (4) If the latitudes of the maximum amplitudes of variation of the vertical component in the geomagnetic quiet days are roughly taken as the latitudes corresponding to the foci of Sq overhead current system, we can see that these latitudes of foci become higher in summer, are lowest in winter and highest during Equinoxes, displaying conspicuous monthly and daily variations. For two successive geomagnetic quiet days, the latitudes of foci may vary ten degrees. 展开更多

Trogocytosis is a rapid transfer between cells of membranes and associated proteins. Trogocytic exchanges have been investigated between different cell types, mainly in two-cell systems, involving one donor and one acceptor cell type. Here, we studied trogocytosis in a more complex system, involving not only several immune cell subsets but also multiple tumor cells. We show that CD4~ T cells, CD8+ T cells and monocytes can acquire membrane patches and the intact proteins they contain from different tumor cells by multiple simultaneous trogocytoses. The trogocytic ca- pabilities of CD4~ and CD8~ T cells were found to be similar, but inferior to that of autologous monocytes. Activated peripheral-blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) may also exchange membranes between themselves in an all-autolo- gous system. For this reason, monocytes are capable of acquiring membranes from multiple tumor cell sources, and transfer them again to autologous T cells, along with some of their own membranes (serial trogocytosis). Our data illustrate the extent of membrane exchanges between autologous activated immune effector cells and their environ- ment, and how the cellular content of the local environment, including "bystander" cells, may impact the functions of immune effector cells. 展开更多

Mean-square displacements and velocity autocorrelation functions are used to calculate self-diffusion coefficients through Einstein equation and Green-Kubo formula. It has been found that simulation results are in good agreement with experimental data for liquid argon which is taken as exponential-six fluid. The effects of density, temperature and steepness factor for repulsive part of exponential-six potential on self-diffusion coefficients are also investigated. The simulation results indicate that the self-diffusion coefficient of exponential-six fluid increases as temperature increases and density decreases. In addition, the larger self-diffusion coefficients are obtained as the steepness factor increases at the same temperature and density condition. 展开更多

In Peer-to-Peer(P2P) streaming systems,video data may be lost since peers can join and leave the overlay network randomly,thereby deteriorating the video playback quality.In this paper we propose a new hybrid mesh and Distributed Hash Table(DHT) based P2P streaming system,called HQMedia,to provide high playback quality to users by maintaining high data dissemination resilience with a low overhead.In HQMedia,peers are classified into Super Peers(SP) and Common Peers(CP) according to their online time.SPs and CPs form a mesh structure,while SPs alone form a new Streaming DHT(SDHT) structure.In this hybrid architecture,we propose a joint scheduling and compensation mechanism.If any frames cannot be obtained during the scheduling phase,an SDHT-based compensation mechanism is invoked for retrieving the missing frames near the playback point.We evaluate the performance of HQMedia by both theoretical analysis and intensive simulation experiments on large-scale networks to demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed system.Numerical results show that HQMedia significantly outperforms existing mesh-based and treebased P2P live streaming systems by improving playback quality with only less than 1% extra maintenance overhead. 展开更多
