Chemical constituents were isolated by method of solvent extraction, repeated chromatography with silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and ODS. The structures were elucidated based on spectro- scopic data. Fourteen compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as brazilin (1), sappanone B (2), (E)-3-(3,4- dihydroxybenzylidene)-7-hydroxychroman-4-one (3), 3-deoxysappanone B (4), brazilide A (5), euxanthone (6), quercetin (7), rhamnetin (8), sappanchalcone (9), 3-deoxysappanchalcone (10), butein (11), 2,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde (12), 3,8,9-trihydroxy- 6H-benzo[c]chromen-6-one (13) and 13-sitosterol (14). Compounds 12 and 13 were two new natural compounds, and the ^13C NMR data of compound 13 were reported for the first time. Compound 6 was the first xanthone isolated from the genus Caesalpinia. 展开更多

In order to provide directionally genetically improved breeding materials of poplar by exploring the phenological traits genetic variation level and its develop- ment potential of Populus deltoides and the resource evaluation was carried out; 8 phenological phases in seedling period were observed and analyzed of 60 Populus deltoids clones introduced from America. The results showed that: (1) there was obvious difference in phonological character among clones, especially in leaf-spread- ing peak stage and the end term of leaf-falling stage, with the largest variation co- efficient of 14.97% and the minimum of 3.83% respectively. (2) Leaf-spreading peak stage scattered but the end term of leaf-falling stage concentrated the most. The phonological character in early stage of seedling growth was the main factor influ- encing the length of growing season. (3) By principal component analysis, pheno- logical phases were classified into 3 typical periods, including germination stage, leaf-spreading peak stage and leaf-falling stage. (4) Totaling 60 clones were classi- fied into 4 types by using clustering analysis in phenological time variables of clones. 展开更多

[Objective] This study aimed to analyze the morphological diversity of red- seed watermelon (Citrullus lanatus ssp. vulgaris var. megalaspermus Lin et Chao) germplasm resources. [Method] Multiple cluster analysis and principal components analysis on the morphological traits of 51 red-seed watermelon germplasm resources were carried out. [Result] The coefficient of variations (CVs) of 39 morphological traits in 51 red-seed watermelon idioplasm resources ranged from 5.37% to 66.95%, with an average of 22.87%. The average of Shannon diversity information indices was 1.55. Among them, the Shannon diversity information index of seed length was the highest (2.16) and that of seed shell figure pattern was the lowest (0.32). In ad- dition, the morphological diversity information indices of quantity characters were higher than that of quality characters. The principal components analysis revealed that the variance contribution rates of the first, second and third principal compo- nents were 19.49%, 15.32% and 9.55%, respectively. Cluster analysis divided the 51 materials into three broad branches based on the morphological traits. There was only one material in the fist branch and two in the second branch, and all the three materials were wild. The other 48 materials were divided into the third branch and all of them were cultivars. [Conclusion] This study provided a theoretical basis for the protection and utilization of red-seed watermelon resources. 展开更多

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to calculate molecular descriptors (properties) for 12 fluoro-quinolone with anti-S.pneumoniae activity. Principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) were employed to reduce dimensionality and investigate in which variables should be more effective for classifying fluoroquinolones according to their degree of an-S.pneumoniae activity. The PCA results showed that the variables ELUMO, Q3, Q5, QA, logP, MR, VOL and △EHL of these compounds were responsible for the anti-S.pneumoniae activity. The HCA results were similar to those obtained with PCA.The methodologies of PCA and HCA provide a reliable rule for classifying new fluoroquinolones with antiS.pneumoniae activity. By using the chemometric results, 6 synthetic compounds were analyzed through the PCA and HCA and two of them are proposed as active molecules with anti-S.pneumoniae, which is consistent with the results of clinic experiments. 展开更多

In order to distinguish 8 kinds of rhizome crops, the 40 samples were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) combined with wavelet transform (WT), principal component analysis (PCA) and hieramhical cluster analysis (HCA). The results showed that the infrared spectra were similar on the whole, but there were differences in peak position, peak shape and peak absorption intensity in the range of 1 800-700 cm-1. The infrared spectra in the range of 1 800-700 cm-1 were selected to perform continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The 15th-Ievel decomposition coefficients of CWT and the 5=-level detail coefficients of DWT were classified by PCA and HCA. The cumulative contri- bution rates of the first three principal components of CWT and DWT were 93.12% and 89.78%, respectively. The accurate recognition rates of PCA and HCA were all 100%. It is proved that FTIR combined with WT can be used to distinguish different kinds of rhizome crops. 展开更多

The morphological differences were observed by uniformity analysis, variability analysis, principal component analysis and cluster analysis. The result showed that the vari- able coefficients of 59 traits were greater than 15%; the contribution rate of first seven principal components reached 81.45%; and it was found by clustering analy- sis that the 50 germplasm resources could be divided into four clusters with obvious morphological differences, and plant type could be used as an index for classifica- tion. 展开更多

Viviparidae are widely distributed around the globe, but there are considerable gaps in the taxonomic record. To date, 18 species of the viviparid genus Cipangopaludina have been recorded in China, but there is substantial disagreement on the validity of this taxonomy. In this study, we described the shell and internal traits of these species to better discuss the validity of related species. We found that C. ampulliformis is synonym of C. lecythis, and C. wingatei is synonym of C. chinensis, while C. ampullacea and C. fluminalis are subspecies of C. lecythis and C. chinensis, respectively. C. dianchiensis should be paled in the genus Margarya, while C. menglaensis and C. yunnanensis belong to genus Mekongia. Totally, this leaves 11 species and 2 subspecies recorded in China. Based on whether these specimens' spiral whorl depth was longer than aperture depth, these species or subspecies can be further divided into two groups, viz. chinensis group and cathayensis group, which can be determined from one another via the ratio of spiral depth and aperture depth, vas deferens and number of secondary branches of vas deferens. Additionally, Principal Component Analysis indicated that body whorl depth, shell width, aperture width and aperture length were main variables during species of Cipangopaludina. A key to all valid Chinese Cipangopaludina species were given. 展开更多

To identify impact factors on the distribution and characters of natural plants community in reclamation area, with survey data from 67 plant quadrats in July 2009, soil properties data from 216 sampling points in April 2009, and TM (30 m) data in 2006, the composition and characteristics of natural plants community in different time of the Fengxian area in the Changjiang (Yangtze) River estuary were analyzed with two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN), multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), detrended canonical correspondence analysis (DCCA) and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). The results show that: 1) The plant communities in the reclaimed area are mainly mesophytes and helophytic-mesophytic transitional communities, showing a gradient distribution trend with the change in reclamation years. Species richness (MA), species diversity (H) and above-ground biomass also increase with the increase of reclamation years. Nevertheless, they appear to decline slightly in the middle and late reclamation period (> 30 years). 2) With the rise in land use levels, the changes in species richness and species diversity tend to increase at first and then decrease; species dominance (D), however, tends to decline; and above-ground biomass increases slightly. 3) The distribution of the plant community is mainly influenced by the following factors: land use levels (R = 0.55, p < 0.05), soil moisture (R = 0.53, p < 0.05), soil salinity (R = 0.43, p < 0.05) and reclamation time (R = 0.40, p < 0.05). 展开更多

This paper presents a model considering codes as information source based on Shannon’s information theory. Using information entropy, it preserves the mathematical form and quantitatively measures the information amount of a symbol and a bit in the machine component classification coding system. It also gets the maximum value of information amount and the corresponding coding scheme when the category of symbols is fixed. In order to accurately describe the dynamic characteristics of flight vehicles through aerodynamic modeling, an adaptive wavelet neural network (AWNN) aerodynamic modeling method is proposed, based on subset kernel principal components analysis (SKPCA) feature extraction. Firstly, by fuzzy C-means clustering, some samples are selected from the training sample set to constitute a sample subset. Then, the obtained samples subset is used to execute SKPCA for extracting basic features of the training samples. Finally, using the extracted basic features, the AWNN aerodynamic model is established. The experimental results show that, in 50 times repetitive modeling, the modeling ability of the method proposed is better than that of other six methods. It only needs about half the modeling time of KPCA-AWNN under a close prediction accuracy, and can easily determine the model parameters. This enables it to be effective and feasible to construct the aerodynamic modeling for flight vehicles. 展开更多

The objectives of this study were to demonstrate ethno-scientific elicitation techniques in retrieving indigenous knowledge at village-level, and to document the indigenous soil classification systems of different ethnic groups in Luang Prabang province in the Lao PDR. The study area comprised three villages – Nambo, Huaymaha and Thapo, in the Phonxay district of Luang Prabang province. Three ethnic groups were covered by the study – Hmong, Khmu and Lao Loum. All three ethnic groups used soil color as main criteria for soil classification. However, even within the same ethnic group, sometimes different villages have differences in the way they classify soils; this was apparent for the Hmong ethnic group in the villages of Huaymaha and Nambo. A significant difference of the Lao Loum ethnic group from the other two, was the emphasis used in classifying soil types according to their water holding capabilities. In contrast, the Khmu and Hmong classified many soil types in relation to their rock content (‘with rock’ or ‘pure rock’ sometimesbeing used). The results of the study suggest that the ethnic groups classify the soils in relation to their potential for different types of agricultural production. 展开更多

Griersson, T. densum (Lab.) Schultz Bip. subsp, amani Heywood and T. cadmeum (Boiss.) Heywood subsp, orientale were examined by HS-SPME/GC-MS technique. Thirty six, thirty nine, forty and forty five constituents were determined representing 88.9%, 90.1%, 90.8% and 91.5% of the oil, respectively. The main compounds of studied Tanacetum L. taxa; borneol, α-pinene, 1,8-cineole, β-pinene, camphor, germacrene D, spathulenol are determined. Studied Tanacetum taxa showed congruency with the discription in Flora of Turkey as morphological properties; on the contrary essential oil composition were detected very quiet diverse infrageneric level. Chemotypes of Tanacetum L. taxa were reported as borneol, germacrene D, spathulenol, α-pinene, 1,8-cineole, β-pinene and camphor. The results obtained from this study were discussed in terms of chemotaxonomy and natural products. 展开更多

The fatty acid compositions of seston and Calanus sinicus were investigated to study trophic relationships in Jiaozhou Bay. Principal component analysis was carried out to ordinate the fatty acid patterns of seston in stations and months. The results showed that diatoms were most abundant in the phytoplankton at station A5 (located in the northwest of the bay: 36~9'N, 120~20'E) and least abundant at station D7 (located outside of the bay: 35~59'N, 120~26'E). By contrast, dinoflagellates were most abundant at station D7 and least abundant at station A5. According to the annual variations of 16:1 (o7 and 18:4(o3/ 16:1(o7, diatoms flourished mainly in spring and summer, while dinoflagellates bloomed exclusively in summer. A distinctive feature of the fatty acid composition of C. sinicus was the prevalence of 20:5o3 and 22:6(o3. The higher content of 16:1(o7 over 18:4(o3 in females indicated that diatoms contributed more than dinoflagellates to the diet of C. sinicus. The feeding intensity of C. sinicus on diatoms was higher in spring and autumn than in other seasons. The herbivorous indicators 20:1 and 22:1 were comparatively low, suggesting that besides phytoplankton, C. sinicus might feed on a wider range of particles including organic detritus, bacteria and small copepods. 展开更多

In this study, five color parameters (L*: lightness, a*: red... Honey is a product of the elaboration of flower nectar by bees. The general features and elemental composition of honey depend on its botanical origin. In this study, five color parameters (L*: lightness, a*: red color, b*: yellow color, C*ab and hab) and five elements (Na, K, Mg, Ca and Zn) were determined and related with 91 Thai honey samples. The origins of four botanic types of (1) longan flower (Dimocarpus sp.), (2) lynchee flower (Litchi sp.), (3) sunflower (Helianthus sp.) and (4) wild flower (Eupatorium sp.) using principle component analysis (PCA). The results showed that five color parameters and five metal contents related with the Thai botanic origins of the honeys using principle component analysis (PCA). Six major indicators of PC i (variance is 44.33%) from three color parameters are L*(-0.926), a*(0.927) and hue or hab (0.824) and from three metal contents are K(0.833), Ca(0.816) and Mg(0.595). Two minor indicators of PC2 (variance is 21.58%) from color parameters are b*(-0.934) and Chroma or C*ab (-0.834). Two indicators of PC3 (%variance is 12.47%) from contents of Na (-0.722) and Zn (0.704). Thai Lynchee (C) flower honeys classified using both six parameters in PC 1 and two color parameters in PC2. Thai longan flower (G) honeys classified using the contents of Zn and Na in PC3 parameters. Thai sunflower (S) honeys classified using two color parameters in PC2. Thai wild flower (W) honeys classified using the metal contents of K in PC 1 parameter, Zn and Na in PC3 parameters. 展开更多

AIM:To study whether selected bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA(rRNA)gene phylotypes are capable of disting- uishing irritable bowel syndrome(IBS). METHODS:The faecal microbiota of twenty volunteers with IBS,subdivided into eight diarrhoea-predominant (IBS-D),eight constipation-predominant(IBS-C)and four mixed symptom-subtype(IBS-M)IBS patients,and fifteen control subjects,were analysed at three time-points with a set of fourteen quantitative real-timepolymerase chain reaction assays.All assays targeted 16S rRNA gene phylotypes putatively associated with IBS,based on 16S rRNA gene library sequence analysis. The target phylotypes were affiliated with Actinobac-teria,Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes.Eight of the target phylotypes had less than 95%similarity to cultured bacterial species according to their 16S rRNA gene sequence.The data analyses were made with repeated-measures ANCOVA-type modelling of the data and principle component analysis(PCA)with linear mixed-effects models applied to the principal component scores. RESULTS:Bacterial phylotypes Clostridium cocleatum 88%,Clostridium thermosuccinogenes 85%,Coprobacillus catenaformis 91%,Ruminococcus bromii-like, Ruminococcus torques 91%,and R.torques 93%were detected from all samples analysed.A multivariate analysis of the relative quantities of all 14 bacterial 16S rRNA gene phylotypes suggested that the intestinal microbiota of the IBS-D patients differed from other sample groups.The PCA on the first principal component(PC1),explaining 30.36%of the observed variation in the IBS-D patient group,was significantly altered from all other sample groups(IBS-D vs control, P=0.01;IBS-D vs IBS-M,P=0.00;IBS-D vs IBS-C, P=0.05).Significant differences were also observed in the levels of distinct phylotypes using relative values in proportion to the total amount of bacteria.A phy- lotype with 85%similarity to C.thermosuccinogenes was quantified in significantly different quantities among the IBS-D and control subjects(-4.08±0.90 vs -3.33±1.16,P=0.04)and IBS-D and IBS-M subjects (-4.08±0.90 vs-3.08±1.38,P=0.05).Furthermore,a phylotype with 94%similarity to R.torques was more prevalent in IBS-D patients'intestinal micro- biota than in that of control subjects(-2.43±1.49 vs -4.02±1.63,P=0.01).A phylotype with 93%simi- larity to R.torques was associated with control sam- ples when compared with IBS-M(-2.41±0.53 vs -2.92±0.56,P=0.00).Additionally,a R.bromii-like phylotype was associated with IBS-C patients in com- parison to control subjects(-1.61±1.83 vs-3.69± 2.42,P=0.01).All of the above mentioned phylotype specific alterations were independent of the effect of time. CONCLUSION:Significant phylotype level alterationsin the intestinal microbiotas of IBS patients were observed,further emphasizing the possible contribution of the gastrointestinal microbiota in IBS. 展开更多

Muscle injuries remain one of the most common injuries in sport,yet despite this,there is little consensus on how to either effectively describe or determine the prognosis of a specific muscle injury.Numerous approaches to muscle classification and grading of medicine have been applied over the last century,but over the last decade the limitations of historic approaches have been recognized.As a consequence,in the past 10 years,clinical research groups have begun to question the historic approaches and reconsider the way muscle injuries are classified and described.Using a narrative approach,this manuscript describes several of the most recent attempts to classify and grade muscle injuries and highlights the relative strengths and weaknesses of each system.While each of the new classification and grading systems have strengths,there remains little consensus on a system that is both comprehensive and evidence based.Few of the currently identified features within the grading systems have relevance to accurately determining prognosis. 展开更多
