No p34cdc2, H1 kinase activity was detected in the oocytes after progesterone stimulation or OA microinjection; Western blotting analysis showed that the level of p3cdc2, and p33 in the oocytes are significantly lower than those in the oocytes derived from the hibernating toads (below 10 ℃). 25S-Met incorporation analysis showed that when the oocytes were incubated at 6℃, synthesis of about thirty defferent polypeptides was promoted or induced, including p34cdc2 and some other p13suc1-binding proteins. All these results indicated that a low temperature environment is essential for the oocytes of Bufo Bufo gargarizans to express and store some cell cycle drivers and its regulators, and to gain the maturation competence. To assess first-year gastroenterology fellows’ ability to address difficult interpersonal situations in the workplace using objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE).METHODSTwo OSCEs (“distracted care team”...To assess first-year gastroenterology fellows’ ability to address difficult interpersonal situations in the workplace using objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE).METHODSTwo OSCEs (“distracted care team” and “frazzled intern”) were created to assess response to disruptive behavior. In case 1, a fellow used a colonoscopy simulator while interacting with a standardized patient (SP), nurse, and attending physician all played by actors. The nurse and attending were instructed to display specific disruptive behavior and disregard the fellow unless requested to stop the disruptive behavior and focus on the patient and procedure. In case 2, the fellow was to calm an intern managing a patient with massive gastrointestinal bleeding. The objective in both scenarios was to assess the fellows’ ability to perform their duties while managing the disruptive behavior displayed by the actor. The SPs used checklists to rate fellows’ performances. The fellows completed a self-assessment survey.RESULTSTwelve fellows from four gastrointestinal fellowship training programs participated in the OSCE. In the “distracted care team” case, one-third of the fellows interrupted the conflict and refocused attention to the patient. Half of the fellows were able to display professionalism despite the heated discussion nearby. Fellows scored lowest in the interprofessionalism portion of post-OSCE surveys, measuring their ability to handle the conflict. In the “frazzled intern” case, 68% of fellows were able to establish a calm and professional relationship with the SP. Despite this success, only half of the fellows were successfully communicate a plan to the SP and only a third scored “well done” in a domain that focused on allowing the intern to think through the case with the fellow’s guidance.CONCLUSIONFellows must receive training on how to approach disruptive behavior. OSCEs are a tool that can assess fellow skills and set a culture for open discussion.展开更多

The pressure atomizing nozzle TF8 was chosen for inlet air spray cooling, and the spray cooling experiment with different layouts of nozzles were conducted. Through heat and mass transfer analysis, the cooling effect fitting correlation was acquired with evaporative cooling being the major cooling mechanism. The experimental results under different nozzle layouts show that when the product of dry ball and wet ball temperature difference and spray rate is smaller than 75 ~C-m3/h, opening the TF8 nozzles in row 1 and row 2 (row distance is 500 mm) has better cooling effect than those in row 1 and row 3 (row distance is 1 000 mm), while when the product is larger than 75 ~C'm3/h, opening the TF8 nozzles in row 1 and row 3 is superior in cooling effect to those in row 1 and row 2.展开更多

In terms of fatigue modes, a subregional fatigue model is developed to describe the damages evolution of SCRC under fatigue loads. Firstly, finite element analysis is introduced to determine interply stress distribution of the specimen. Then, based on the experimental fatigue data, subregional models are introduced to simulate relations between maximum strain, effective stiffness, delamination shear stress and fatigue cycles. Relations between crack density, delamination length growth rate, macro crack density and cycles are modeled by two semi-empirical models. A reasonable prediction result was achieved by the current model, where model parameters can be determined by basic outputs of fatigue testing.展开更多

The connection between the two is discussed in three lessons that Soren Kierkegaard provides in his religious discourses What We Learn from the Lilies in the Field and from the Birds of the Air. The importance of the connection between faith and well-being, especially within Kierkegaard's authorship, derives from his definition of a human being as a synthesis of the infinite and the finite, of the temporal and the eternal, of freedom and necessity. It is important to note that this synthesis is not yet a self, not yet an authentic human being. In order to become a self a deviation is needed, a split within this elementarysynthesis. Only upon achieving such split a new synthesis is reconstructed, the synthesis that amounts to an authentic selfhood. The believer who has stopped worrying over his/her mundane concerns, by shifting its existential gravity towards God, will then have to reconstruct a new synthesis. This new synthesis will resemble the fundamental one in almost every aspect. But the difference would lie in choosing God, in the believer's hidden inwardness. Faith's fruits of eternal happiness are attained strictly through the journey undertaken by the believer's inner self.展开更多
