In this study, 596 slope damages were examined to identify the types of damage associated with dip angles, dip directions, and heavy rainfall resulting from typhoons in South Korea. Heavy rainfall of 100 mm to 300 mm resulted in 80% at the investigated slope damages. A GIS database was developed for highways, rainfall, soil or rock geometry, and types of damage. A grid of rainfall intensity was generated from the records of maximum daily rainfall. Contours for slope damages and heavy rainfall using optimal GIS mesh dimensions were generated to visualize damage patterns and show substantially strong correlation of rainfall with slope damages. The combination of remote sensing with the GIS pattern recognition process described in this work are being expanded for a new generation of emergency response and rapid decision support systems.展开更多

Reliability of an object is an essential issue during its usage. The main problem is the strive to eliminate damage formation. Predicting the reliability of an object should allow qualitative and quantitative analysis of the possibility of occurrence of unfavorable events. The adaptation of mathematical models describing the degradation processes in mechanical and electronic devices creates opportunities to develop diagnostic standards for buildings erected in traditional technology. The article presents the methodology of prediction of reliability of a building, and the values of performance features are defined by the parameters of the Weibull distribution function.展开更多

At this time, there is no standard method to analyze a delay claim. This paper first introduced a fictional case study that has most types of delay and acceleration events that might be faced on a real project. The case study is applied to all current techniques of delay claims that have been identified from previous studies. The comparison uses the delay claim issues as criteria to evaluate all the delay claim techniques from the case study results. The case study result and discussion demonstrate that the Day-by-Day technique satisfies all the desired criteria while other techniques lack some.展开更多

People to old age, self-care ability than in the past, not only suffer from disease, life has become difficult, coupled with the large number of empty nest family, the cost of care is also very high, whether it is to receive home care or professional institutions of care have great difficulties. Therefore, the community should be a large number of people with long-term care needs of the appropriate economic compensation, in this context, long-term care insurance is born. As a leading city in Shandong Province, Qingdao has introduced long-term care insurance and achieved good results. This paper analyzes the practical problems faced by Qingdao, that is, the development background of Qingdao long-term nursing insurance model, obtains the deficiency of Qingdao long-term nursing insurance, and then puts forward the corresponding countermeasures, and then ponders how to choose the long-term nursing insurance model of our country's future development.展开更多

In this study a statistical analysis of oil spill data was carried out based on the report of International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds. According to the statistical study of actual oil spill from tankers, it is found that collisions and groundings are the most probable causes of the oil spills from tankers. Probability distributions of costs of oil spill and oil spill amount are investigated, and a non-linear regression formula between costs of oil spills and oil spill weight are derived. Using the regression formula, an oil spill weight dependent CATStm (Cost of Averting a Ton of oil Spilt) is proposed. Moreover in order to apply the weight dependent CATSthr to cost benefit analysis (CBA), a new cost-effective criterion is newly proposed with considering its concrete application to environmental FSA.展开更多
