So they are usually obligated by regulators to invest on reliability improvement of network. But this investment on reliability is usually from the DISCO’s viewpoint and is also irrespective of customer satisfaction level. In other words, customers are not at the same level of sensitivity to interruptions but DISCO improves the reliability of network without considering the differences in importance degree of loads and their level of reliability requirement. On the other hand DISCOs attempt to reduce their investment costs as much as possible. This paper introduces a novel approach in the field of joint switch placement that can reduce the switch cost from the perspective of asset management policies. To this end, two switch placement plannings in different types of strategies are performed to compare their results. Firstly as witch placement is performed based on reducing the total energy not supplied (ENS) of the system. Then by revising the strategy, a fuzzy switch placement is performed from the DISCO’s point of view which just considers the total ENS of load points most sensitive to interruptions known as important or critical loads. Furthermore, by meeting the related constraints, the reliability of low sensitive customers is disregarded. This is a load importance based planning which can result in switch cost reduction relative to the amount achieved in previous strategy and implies the management of risks associated with reliability and respective constraint. Fuzzy method and new switching mechanism in fuzzy environment of network are implemented to modeling and controlling the risks associated to ENS of critical loads and also the ENS of system.展开更多

In RTQ-C, the evaluation can be done with two methods: a prescriptive method and a simulation one. This paper aims to identify the sensibility of the prescriptive method RTQ-C regarding the variation of equipment internal load density in office buildings in bioclimatic Zones I and 7 of the Brazilian bioclimatic zoning. The research results show that the building with walls and roof configured to meet specific prerequisites for energy efficiency Levels B and C had a lower consumption than buildings that meet the prerequisites to Level A. The study also showed that buildings with high internal load density of equipment, maximum shape factor and high, with walls and roofs with higher thermal transmittance, have lower power consumption than constructions with an envelope with greater thermal resistance. The increase in internal load density causes an increase in the internal heat generated by the large amount of equipment. In buildings with higher thermal insulation (Level A), the internal heat is maintained in the environment, causing overheating and the need for an air conditioning system.展开更多

Being a small but densely populated country in South Asia, Bangladesh has many isolated places which are not connected to national grid yet. If concern authority opts to expand grid to those areas, they need reliable demand data for designing and dimensioning of different power system entities, e.g., capacity, overhead line capacity, tie line capacity, spinning reserve, load-shedding scheduling, etc., for reliable operation and to prevent possible obligatory redesigning. This paper represents an analysis to forecast the electricity demand of an isolated island in Bangladesh where past history of electrical load demand is not available. The analysis is based on the identification of factors, e.g., population, literacy rate, per capita income, occupation, communication, etc., on which electrical load growth of an area depends. Data has been collected from the targeted isolated area and form a grid connected area which is similar to target area from social and geographical perspective. Weights of those factors on load have been calculated by matrix inversion. Demand of the new area is forecasted using these weights factors by matrix multiplication.展开更多

This study presents a simulation of SOFC building-based cooling, heat and power (BCHP) system, which can meet basic requirements in power and heating (cooling) of the designated customers. The peak power load can be met by power grid, while the peak heating (cooling) load requirement can be met by backup equipments. In order to solve the economic dispatch problem of the energy system, a restricted nonlinear optimization model has been developed. The production costs can be minimized via both the equality constraints of customer’s heat and power demands, and other inequality constrains of equipments’ capacities. The sequential quadratic programming method has been used to search the solution. The study indicates that the model can be used to optimize the system’s capacities and run strategy. An office building case has been computed, and it is indicated that the model can be served in design and optimization of SOFC-BCHP system.展开更多
