Optimal decision threshold for soft decision cooperative spectrum sensing

In order to achieve higher spectrum efficiency in cognitive radio (CR) systems, a closed-form expression of the optimal decision threshold for soft decision cooperative spectrum sensing based on the minimum total error probability criterion is derived. With the analytical expression of the optimal decision threshold, the impact of different sensing parameters on the threshold value is studied. Theoretical analyses show that the optimal threshold achieves an efficient trade-off between the missed detection probability and the false alarm probability. Simulation results illustrate that the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the soft combination schemes have a great influence on the optimal threshold value, whereas the number of samples has a weak impact on the optimal threshold value. Furthermore, for the maximal ratio combing (MRC) and the modified deflection coefficient (MDC) schemes, the optimal decision threshold value increases and approaches a corresponding individual limit value while the number of CR users increases. But the number of CR users has a weak influence on the optimal decision threshold for the equal gain combining (EGC) scheme. 展开更多

Purpose: The purpose of this review was to critically analyse the cun;ent evidence investigating the effect of an athlete's hydration status on physical performance. Methods: A literature search of multiple databases was used to identify studies that met the inclusion criteria for this review. The included studies were then critically appraised using the Downs and Black protocol. Results: Nine articles were found to meet the inclusion criteria, with an average score of 79% for methodological quality representative of a "high" standard of research. Conclusion: The evidence suggests that dehydration has a negative impact on physical performance for activities lasting more than 30 s in duration. However dehydration was found to have no significant impact on physical performance for activities lasting less than 15 s in duration. 展开更多

This paper firstly analyzes the property of the low frequency electromagnetic wave, which can penetrate many types of non-metallic materials, and the ability of Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) impulse signal which has high range resolution. Then the methods are discussed for conducting surveillance through walls, detecting and locating the moving persons behind the partitions. The schematic diagram of Through-Wall Detecting Radar (TWDR) and the models of moving target are shown and the principle of detecting the moving target is also provided with coherent superimposing technique on a range gate. Finally an algorithm for estimating the location of targets is given. The performance of TWDR is validated by the experiments of penetrating a wood block, a red brick wall and a reinforced concrete wall. 展开更多

AIM: To investigate whether ANNs and LDA could recognize patients with ABG in a database, containing only clinical and biochemical variables, of a pool of patients with and without ABG, by selecting the most predictive variables and by reducing input data to the minimum.METHODS: Data was collected from 350 consecutive outpatients (263 with ABG, 87 with non-atrophic gastritis and/or celiac disease [controls]). Structured questionnaires with 22 items (anagraphic, anamnestic, clinical, and biochemical data) were filled out for each patient. All patients underwent gastroscopy with biopsies. ANNs and LDA were applied to recognize patients with ABG.Experiment 1: random selection on 37 variables, experiment 2: optimization process on 30 variables, experiment 3:input data reduction on 8 variables, experiment 4: use of only clinical input data on 5 variables, and experiment 5:use of only serological variables.RESULTS: In experiment 1, overall accuracies of ANNs and LDA were 96.6% and 94.6%, respectively, for predicting patients with ABG. In experiment 2, ANNs and LDA reached an overall accuracy of 98.8% and 96.8%,respectively. In experiment 3, overall accuracy of ANNs was 98.4%. In experiment 4, overall accuracies of ANNs and LDA were, respectively, 91.3% and 88.6%. In experiment 5, overall accuracies of ANNs and LDA were,respectively, 97.7% and 94.5%.CONCLUSION: This preliminary study suggests that advanced statistical methods, not only ANNs, but also LDA,may contribute to better address bioptic sampling during gastroscopy in a subset of patients in whom ABG may be suspected on the basis of aspecific gastrointestinal symptoms or non-digestive disorders. 展开更多

This approach firstly estimates strength of colorfulness of images and their types. With such determined infomation, the algorithm automatical- ly adjusts image colorfulness for a better natural image look. With the help of an additional detection of skin colors and a pixel chroma adaptive local processing, the algodtlan produces more natural image look. The algorithm perfomance had been tested with an image quality judgment experiment of 20 persons. The experimental result indicates a better image preference. 展开更多
