Sensitivity evaluation of rocky desertification is to recognize the areas prone to be rock-deserted,so as to assess the sensitivity degree of rocky desertification to human activities.To perform the sensitivity evalua...Sensitivity evaluation of rocky desertification is to recognize the areas prone to be rock-deserted,so as to assess the sensitivity degree of rocky desertification to human activities.To perform the sensitivity evaluation of rocky desertification,we should be on the basis of the mechanism of rocky desertification formation for analyzing its regional distribution difference in the sensitivity and further for finding out the rocky desertification-susceptive areas and their possible degrees.Employing remote sensing and geological information system techniques,we regarded the 1∶ 50 000 topographic map and the TM image in 2000 of Guizhou Province,together with the hydrologic map,soil map,geologic map,rock formation map,administrative map and other geological information as data sources to generate the degree data of rocky desertification sensitivity of Guizhou Province in 1962 and 2000,based on which we determined the corresponding degree transfer matrix and adopted Markov model to simulate the dynamic change process of rocky desertification sensitivity and its future evolution trend.In various sensitivity types of rocky desertification in Guizhou Province,only the insensitive type showed a declined acreage,from the proportion of total land acreage of 61.35% in 1962 to 55.55% in 2000.Various sensitivity types inter-conversed,resultantly the acreage of mildly sensitive type increased most.The prediction results showed that the acreage of insensitive type of rocky desertification in Guizhou Province will assume a remarkable decline trend,of mildly sensitive type will present a remarkably increasing trend and of slightly sensitive type basically will maintain a stable level in the future tens of years.Acreages of both highly sensitive and extremely sensitive type of rocky desertification expanded to some extent,suggesting that the rocky desertification risk in Guizhou Province is in an aggravating process.展开更多

The areas of construction land and water body have increased by 1833.93 hm2 and 804.87 hm2, respectively. On the contrary, the area of cropland has decreased by 3207.24 hm2. The area of cropland converted into construction land makes up 26.84%, and that converted into water body amounts for 8.17% of the total area of cropland in 1994. The variation index of land use degree and the dynamic degree index of land use computed are 1.38 and 57.81%, respectively, which demonstrate that land use in Xuzhou is in a development period and the changes are drastic. The frequency index and importance index of the form in which cropland converted into con- struction land are 29.91% and 68.93% respectively. The results indicate that the change is not only widespread in space but a major form of spatial change of land use in the area.展开更多

Objectives To address whether menopause affects outcome of catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) by comparing the safety and long-term outcome of a single-procedure in pre-and post-menopausal women. ...Objectives To address whether menopause affects outcome of catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) by comparing the safety and long-term outcome of a single-procedure in pre-and post-menopausal women. Methods A total of 743 female patients who underwent a single CA procedure of drug-refractory AF were retrospectively analyzed. The differences in clinical presentation and outcomes of CA for AF between the pre-menopausal women (PreM group, 94 patients, 12.7%) and the post-menopausal women (PostM group, 649 patients, 87.3%) were assessed. Results The patients in the PreM group were younger (P<0.001) and less likely to have hypertension (P<0.001) and diabetes (P=0.005) than those in the PostM group. The two groups were similar with regards to the proportion of concomitant mitral valve regurgitation coronary artery disease, left atrium dimensions, and left ventricular ejection fraction. The overall rate of complica-tions related to AF ablation was similar in both groups (P=0.385). After 43 (16-108) months of follow-up, the success rate of ablation was 54.3%in the PreM group and 54.2%in the PostM group (P=0.842). The overall freedom from atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence was simi-lar in both groups. Menopause was not found to be an independent predictive factor of the recurrence of atrial tachyarrhythmia. Conclusions The long-term outcomes of single-procedure CA for AF are similar in pre-and post-menopausal women. Results indicated that CA of AF appears to be as safe and effective in pre-menopausal women as in post-menopausal women.展开更多
Objective To investigate prognostic predictors of long-term survival of patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA), and to determine predictive value of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) in CA patients. Me...Objective To investigate prognostic predictors of long-term survival of patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA), and to determine predictive value of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) in CA patients. Methods We recruited 102 consecutive CA cases and followed these patients for 5 years. We described their clinical characteristics at presentation and used a new, high-sensitivity assay to determine the concentration of cTnT in plasma samples from these patients. Results The patients with poor prognosis showed older age (56 ±12 years vs. 50 ±15 years, P=0.022), higher incidences of heart failure (36.92%vs. 16.22%, P=0.041), pericardial effusion (60.00%vs. 35.14%, P=0.023), greater thickness of interventricular septum (IVS) (15 ±4 mm vs. 13 ±4 mm, P=0.034), higher level of hs-cTnT (0.186 ±0.249 ng/mL vs. 0.044 ±0.055 ng/mL, P=0.001) and higher NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic pep-tide) levels (11,742 ± 10,464 pg/mL vs. 6,031 ± 7,458 pg/mL, P=0.006). At multivariate Cox regression analysis, heart failure (HR:1.78, 95%CI:1.09-2.92, P=0.021), greater wall thickness of IVS (HR:1.44, 95%CI:1.04-3.01, P=0.0375) and higher hs-cTnT level (HR:6.16, 95%CI:2.20-17.24, P=0.001) at enrollment emerged as independent predictors of all-cause mortality. Conclusions We showed that hs-cTnT is associated with a very ominous prognosis, and it is also the strongest predictor of all-cause mortality in multivariate analysis. Examination of hs-cTnT concentrations provides valuable prognostic information concerning long-term outcomes.展开更多

A microprocessor-based thermal analyzer was used to determine the thermal conductivity while spectrophotometric procedure was employed to conduct the heavy metal concentration analysis. Thermal conductivity values were compared with heavy metal concentrations in each soil sample. The values of lead and cadmium and their respective measured thermal conductivities were highly correlated, with their correlation coefficients both greater than 0.900, while other metals showed no correlation.展开更多
The thermal response of hedges alters the urban climate, resulting in energy and comfort affectations that impact city dwellers, so the aim of this study is to analyze the energy fluxes of urban horizontal coverage, e...The thermal response of hedges alters the urban climate, resulting in energy and comfort affectations that impact city dwellers, so the aim of this study is to analyze the energy fluxes of urban horizontal coverage, especially expanded polystyrene waterproofed with elastomeric paint in the city of Mexicali, Baja California, located northwest of Mexico. The experiment was realized on summer of 2011 and 2012 by using four components radiometric sensor, eddy covariance equipment, which was possible to analyze the behavior and intensities of heat fluxes using the model Q* = QE + QG + QH + QF + QD. The results show that in both campaigns the sensible heat flux exceeds the net radiation, in 2011 the net radiation was 31.41 W/mE and sensible heat flux of 74.9 W/m2, in 2012 resulted 43.46 W/m2 and 87.32 W/mE, respectively. This additional heat flux is attributed to the thermal influence of the air conditioning units, which changes the energy balance model to Q* = QH + QF + QD. With the results arise the need for experimentation on a larger scale in which it is possible to model the flow in housing development. The knowledge of the energy balance model will help to propose materials that minimize the thermal impact to the city of Mexicali.展开更多

In this simulation elastic rheology was used and was ...Finite Element (FE) modeling under plane stress condition is used to analyze the fault type variation with depth along and around the San Andreas Fault (SAF) zone. In this simulation elastic rheology was used and was thought justifiable as the variation in depth from 0.5 km to 20 km was considered. Series of calculations were performed with the variation in domain properties. Three types of models were created based on simple geological map of California, namely, 1) single domain model considering whole California as one homogeneous domain, 2) three domains model including the North American plate, Pacific plate, and SAF zone as separate domains, and 3) Four domains model including the three above plus the Garlock Fault zone. Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and Byerlee's law were used for the calculation of failure state. All the models were driven by displacement boundary condition imposing the fixed North American plate and Pacific plate motion along N34°W vector up to the northern terminus of SAF and N50°E vector motion for the subducting the Gorda and Juan de Fuca plates. Our simulated results revealed that as the depth increased, the fault types were generally normal, and at shallow depth greater strike slip and some thrust faults were formed. It is concluded that SAF may be terminated as normal fault at depth although the surface expression is clearly strike slip.展开更多

Historically, the industry has been using these techniques for the preparation of some compounds. Based on these rules, using suitable salts will react with each other. The results are evident all unwanted salts including sodium chloride are removed. In fact, it is a selective precipitation as other salts which are not harmful are kept such as potassium. The other aim of the study is to reduce the current ratio desalination/power which is very high 60,000 to 80,000 cal/L for distillation (A. Payant. P. Chiliotti L. Sainte-Marie Physic Arm and Colin, Paris, France) or 4.5 kWh/m3 for RO (desalination and water reuse, California, USA) a cause of greenhouse gas except desalination using solar energy. Existing in most family firms, the chief emotional officer (CEmO) is the enigmatic heart of the organisation, linking family harmony with business performance and productivity. The literature is rich in acknowledgin...Existing in most family firms, the chief emotional officer (CEmO) is the enigmatic heart of the organisation, linking family harmony with business performance and productivity. The literature is rich in acknowledging the existence and value of the CEmO in family firms, but little is said of the abilities mastered by CEmOs and how organisations can leverage the value of the CEmO through professional development. It is this nexus that this paper aims to fill. Commencing with an exploration of the literature on the purpose and value of the CEmO, key findings are advanced through interviews and a focus group. The specific site of research selected is one rich in family business in which to explore the CEmO phenomenon--the bus and coach industry in Victoria, Australia. Revealed is the fundamental competencies of the CEmO, being their adept ability to facilitate harmony, drive productive and focus values-based decision making in family firms. The outcomes that these competencies achieve and the obstacles and challenges of the CEmO role are also presented. Concluding remarks ask how the CEmO and these core competencies can be developed in a role that is often unstructured, intuitive, and unrecognised within the firm.展开更多

The goal was to run a genetical progress of an exotic breed "the Californian" through a crossbreeding with a native rabbit. Ten females have been crossed with two native males (L × C) compared to controls Native × Native (N × N) and Californian × Californian (C × C). The reproduction and growth performances are clearly improved by crossbreeding effect, the recorded heterosis are: 9.43%, 16.34% and 21.93%, respectively for the alive litter size, alive and weaned; 10%, 16.75% and 2.57%, respectively for the alive litter weight, alive and weaned; 2.57% for the individual weight at birth; 10% and 7% for post weaning performances, respectively day mean gains and feed conversion ratio. Weight at slaughter is improved with 167 g, which representing a considerable level for the native population. Genetic crossbreeding between the Algerian native rabbit and the Californian, raised under rearing conditions of the Blida university farm experiment showed its efficiency on the most zootechnical performances. The complementary effect turned up positively on the crossbred rabbits Their post-weaning growth performance is comparable to those of the Californian with a better viability at weaning and slaughtering age.展开更多

文摘The present study explores the possibility of appealing to the laws of inorganic chemistry, i.e., the rules of precipitation to desalinate seawater. Historically, the industry has been using these techniques for the preparation of some compounds. Based on these rules, using suitable salts will react with each other. The results are evident all unwanted salts including sodium chloride are removed. In fact, it is a selective precipitation as other salts which are not harmful are kept such as potassium. The other aim of the study is to reduce the current ratio desalination/power which is very high 60,000 to 80,000 cal/L for distillation (A. Payant. P. Chiliotti L. Sainte-Marie Physic Arm and Colin, Paris, France) or 4.5 kWh/m3 for RO (desalination and water reuse, California, USA) a cause of greenhouse gas except desalination using solar energy. Another aspect of this study, authors noticed rather than consume energy, regeneration or recycling of products provides energy. And in addition, the operation does not cause any pollution.
文摘Existing in most family firms, the chief emotional officer (CEmO) is the enigmatic heart of the organisation, linking family harmony with business performance and productivity. The literature is rich in acknowledging the existence and value of the CEmO in family firms, but little is said of the abilities mastered by CEmOs and how organisations can leverage the value of the CEmO through professional development. It is this nexus that this paper aims to fill. Commencing with an exploration of the literature on the purpose and value of the CEmO, key findings are advanced through interviews and a focus group. The specific site of research selected is one rich in family business in which to explore the CEmO phenomenon--the bus and coach industry in Victoria, Australia. Revealed is the fundamental competencies of the CEmO, being their adept ability to facilitate harmony, drive productive and focus values-based decision making in family firms. The outcomes that these competencies achieve and the obstacles and challenges of the CEmO role are also presented. Concluding remarks ask how the CEmO and these core competencies can be developed in a role that is often unstructured, intuitive, and unrecognised within the firm.
文摘The carried out experimental work aimed at the improvement of the native rabbit zootechnical performances. The goal was to run a genetical progress of an exotic breed "the Californian" through a crossbreeding with a native rabbit. Ten females have been crossed with two native males (L × C) compared to controls Native × Native (N × N) and Californian × Californian (C × C). The reproduction and growth performances are clearly improved by crossbreeding effect, the recorded heterosis are: 9.43%, 16.34% and 21.93%, respectively for the alive litter size, alive and weaned; 10%, 16.75% and 2.57%, respectively for the alive litter weight, alive and weaned; 2.57% for the individual weight at birth; 10% and 7% for post weaning performances, respectively day mean gains and feed conversion ratio. Weight at slaughter is improved with 167 g, which representing a considerable level for the native population. Genetic crossbreeding between the Algerian native rabbit and the Californian, raised under rearing conditions of the Blida university farm experiment showed its efficiency on the most zootechnical performances. The complementary effect turned up positively on the crossbred rabbits Their post-weaning growth performance is comparable to those of the Californian with a better viability at weaning and slaughtering age.
