In this article, we propose Ex ESA, the extension of ESA. In Ex ESA, the original approach is extended to a 2-pass process and the ratio of different word lengths is introduced as the third type of information combined with cohesion and separation. A maximum strategy is adopted to determine the best segmentation of a character sequence in the phrase of Selection. Besides, in Adjustment, Ex ESA re-evaluates separation information and individual information to overcome the overestimation frequencies. Additionally, a smoothing algorithm is applied to alleviate sparseness. The experiment results show that Ex ESA can further improve the performance and is time-saving by properly utilizing more information from un-annotated corpora. Moreover, the parameters of Ex ESA can be predicted by a set of empirical formulae or combined with the minimum description length principle.展开更多

As a global hallmark event, the Olympics, with their enormous scale, universal attraction for the media and tremendous political significance, have increasingly drawn attention from the researchers. It is obvious that Beijing has been greatly impacted by the 2008 Olympic Games as the host. The event aroused close attention of researchers, especially the problem how the Olympic stadiums and facilities can be utilized after Olympic Games. The paper employed 3 methods to conduct a survey, that is, sending questionnaires to tourists, in- terviewing with government officers, and collecting information about former Olympic Parks from Intemet and lit- eratures. The utilization of former Olympic Parks after Games was summarized and some experiences were refined. Besides, 3 main bodies including government, business operators and visitors which formed basic driving forces to influence the park's use were analyzed. At the same time, the paper believes that 3 topics affect the park's utilization involving 'prepare to use', ~how to use it' and ~how to manage it', and Beijing Olympic Park can also follow that thinking and reference in the ft^her practices. Based on it, suggestions are given that Beijing Olympic Park can be planned spatially from 3 layers, the point, line and area, based on their function and infrastructure in the Games, and the area would be shaped as a new urban center with multi-functions while Mega-events and sport events are still the main content of the park.展开更多

Leaf area index for the high and normal density treatments reached extremely high values of 24.3 and 14.9, respectively. These values induced higher transpiration rates that were estimated using the Penman-Monteith model with the incorporation of specific parameters for crop and greenhouse conditions. The total N, K, Mg, and Ca contents in the crop canopy at harvest were 26.8, 13.0, 1.0, and 1.7 g m-S, respectively, under the high density treatment. The dynamics of salt uptake rates for high, normal, and low density treatments were evaluated by assessing weekly changes in salt content, and were subsequently compared against the transpiration rate. A positive linear relationship was obtained between these 2 parameters for all 3 density treatments and all tested salts. Hence, higher transpiration rates caused higher salt uptake rates through water absorption. On the other hand, salt uptake efficiency per unit water use by cultivation was lower in the low density treatment. Therefore, management procedures with dense planting that induce higher transpiration rates and lower evaporation rate are extremely important for the effective cultivation of corn catch crops.展开更多
