3D Printing with a 5-Axis FDM Printer Using Bézier Techniques

In the last decade,3D printing,especially fused deposition modeling(FDM),has revolutionized manufacturing with intricate designs.Traditional 3-axis FDM printers face challenges with complex geometries,but 5-axis versions offer more design freedom.However,it requires specialized strategies.This research presents a model for 5-axis FDM printers using Bézier curves with an algorithm to enhance print quality.The result shows significant accuracy improvements,especially for curve-based tasks.In addition,this study deepens the understanding of 5-axis FDM technology,setting a solid basis for further research and potentially refining manufacturing methods. 展开更多

A dynamical dq model is proposed for a linear flux-switching permanent magnet(LFSPM) machine which is suitable for high-precision control applications.The operation principle of the prototype machine is analyzed using the finite element method(FEM),and the parameters,such as the back electromotive force(EMF) and the phase flux linkage,are calculated.The calculated and measured results reveal that the back EMF and the flux linkage are essentially sinusoidal,and the variation of the phase flux linkage profile of the LFSPM machine is similar to that of the linear surface permanent magnet(LSPM) machine.Based on this,a dynamical dq model and a simulation control model are proposed.The simulation results are compared with the test results obtained from a DSP-based control platform,which verifies that the model is correct and effective.Moreover,the model can be used for design optimization and control development. 展开更多

A new mechanistic cutting force model for flat end milling using the instantaneous cutting force coefficients is proposed. An in-depth analysis shows that the total cutting forces can be separated into two terms: a nominal component independent of the runout and a perturbation component induced by the runout. The instantaneous value of the nominal component is used to calibrate the cutting force coefficients. With the help of the perturbation component and the cutting force coefficients obtained above, the cutter runout is identified. Based on simulation and experimental results, the validity of the identification approach is demonstrated. The advantage of the proposed method lies in that the calibration performed with data of one cutting test under a specific regime can be applied for a great range of cutting conditions. 展开更多

An improved nonlinear adaptive switching control method is presented to relax the assumption on the higher order nonlinear terms of a class of discrete-time non-affine nonlinear systems. The proposed control strategy is composed of a linear adaptive controller, a neural network(NN) based nonlinear adaptive controller and a switching mechanism. An incremental model is derived to represent the considered system and an improved robust adaptive law is chosen to update the parameters of the linear adaptive controller. A new performance criterion of the switching mechanism is designed to select the proper controller. Using this control scheme, all the signals in the system are proved to be bounded. Numerical examples verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

The traction behavior of space lubricating oil No. 4116 was measured and analyzed at various oil inlet temperatures below 0 ℃ and various rolling speeds under normal loads by a test rig simulating the operating conditions of space bearings. A traction coefficient calculation model was presented. The rheological property and rheological parameters of the lubricant at a low oil inlet temperature were analyzed based on the Tevaarwerk-Johnson model. The results showed that the lubricating oil No. 4116 was sensitive to the rolling speed and had lower sensitivity to the normal load. This lubricating oil is more suitable for applications under high speed when it is used below 0 ℃. It behaves as an elastic-plastic fluid operating below 0 ℃. Both the average limiting shear stress and the average elastic shear modulus have a negative correlation with the rolling speed and oil inlet temperature and have a positive correlation with the normal load. 展开更多

Gently dipping fractures subjected to river incision are widely distributed on rock slopes.In this paper,a rock slope on the Nujiang River(China)is investigated to study the role of gently dipping fractures in the rock slopes evolution.Detailed field surveys indicate that gentle fractures are concentrated in four main zones.Moreover,the kinematics of the fracture system suggest that the genesis of these fractures can be synthesized into a progressive evolution model.This model indicates that the joints begin with the formation of an array of en echelon cracks that are subjected to continued crack elongation and shearing before ultimately approaching one another and interacting to form a complex joint system.Geomechanical analysis is performed to reveal the mechanisms of this genesis,and three main fracture patterns are identified based on the slope stress and are classified with respect to the slope evolution.Based on the detail field investigations and the evolutionary history of the river valley,we propose that intermittent incision by the river was the main factor contributing to the concentrated distribution of gently dipping joints. 展开更多

We consider a behavioural model of an animal choosing between two activities, based on positive feedback, and exa- mine the effect of introducing cross inhibition between the motivations for the two activities. While cross-inhibition has pre- viously been included in models of decision making, the question of what benefit it may provide to an animal's activity selection behaviour has not previously been studied. In neuroscience and in collective behaviour cross-inhibition, and other equivalent means of coupling evidence-accumulating pathways, have been shown to approximate statistically-optimal decision-making and to adaptively break deadlock, thereby improving decision performance. Switching between activities is an ongoing decision process yet here we also find that cross-inhibition robustly improves its efficiency, by reducing the frequency of costly switches between behaviours . 展开更多

Anthracene-based cylindrical macrotricyclic polyether (1) containing two dibenzo-30-crown-10 cavities has been proved to be an efficient host for the templated complexation with N,N'-dipropyl-1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide in the presence of lithium ions in both solution and solid state. Host 1 could also form 1:1 complex with the bispyridinium salt with two β-hydroxyethyl groups in solution and in the solid state. Moreover, it was also found that the switchable complexation processes between the macrotricyclic host and two different kinds of guests could be chemically controlled by the addition and removal of lithium ions. 展开更多

This paper shows how the so called von Karman model can be obtained as a singular limit of a modified Mindlin-Timoshenko system when the modulus of elasticity in shear κ tends to infinity, provided a regularizing term through a fourth order dispersive operator is added. Introducing damping mechanisms, the authors also show that the energy of solutions for this modified Mindlin-Timoshenko system decays exponentially, uniformly with respect to the parameter k. As κ→∞, the authors obtain the damped von Karman model with associated energy exponentially decaying to zero as well. 展开更多
