The objective was to improve the function of marine Arthrobacter oxydans KQll dextranase mouthwash (designed and developed by our laboratory). The experiment was conducted in a three-level, four-variable central composite design to determine the best combination of ZnSO4, lysozyme, citric acid and chitosan. The optimized antibacterial agents were 2.16 g/L ZnSO4, 14 g/L lysozyme, 4.5 g/L citric acid and 5 g/L chitosan. The biofilm formation inhibition reached 84.49%. In addition, microscopic observation of the biofilm was performed using scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy. The optimized formula was tested in marine dextranase Arthrobacter oxydans KQ11 mouthwash and enhanced the inhibition of S. mutans. This work may be promoted for the design and development of future marine dextranase oral care products.展开更多

By analyzing its hydraulic performance through the step-by-step CFD method, the prediction pressure-flow curve(p-Q curve) of the pressure-compensating emitter was obtained. Then the test samples were fabricated using rapid prototype and manufacturing(RP & M) technology. The emitters' hydraulic performance experiment was carried out and the experimental p-Q curve was obtained. The step-by-step CFD design method was verified by comparing the experimental p-Q curve with the prediction values, which showed that the prediction values met the experimental results well within the normal range of the emitter's working pressure. On this basis, the effect of the emitter structure on its pressure-compensating performance was studied, which showed that the height of the pressure-compensating region had significant effects on the emitter's pressure-compensating performance. Series products of the pressure-compensating emitter could be designed by changing the region's height.展开更多

The optimization of the performance of a single-stage Linde-Hampson refrigerator (LHR) operating with six different binary refrigerants (R23/R134a, R23/R227ea, R23/R236ea, R170/R290, R170/R600a and R170/R600) with...The optimization of the performance of a single-stage Linde-Hampson refrigerator (LHR) operating with six different binary refrigerants (R23/R134a, R23/R227ea, R23/R236ea, R170/R290, R170/R600a and R170/R600) with ozone depletion potentials (ODPs) of zero was conducted using a new approach at the temperature level of-60℃. Among these binary refrig- erants, the 0.55 and the 0.6 mole fractions of R23 for R23/R236ea are the most prospective nonflammable ones for the medium and low suction pressure compressors, respectively. For these two kinds of compressors, the 0.6 and the 0.65 mole fractions of R170 for R 170/R600, respectively, are the most prospective binary refrigerants with low global warming potentials (GWPs). The results of optimization of pressure levels indicate that the optimum low pressure value for coefficients of performance (COP) is achieved when the minimum temperature differences occur at both the hot and the cold ends of the recuperator at a specified composition and pressure ratio. Two useful new parameters, the entropy production per unit heat recuperated and the ratio of heat recuperating capacity to the power consumption of the compression, were introduced to analyze the exergy loss ratio in the recuperator. The new approach employed in this paper also suggests a promising application even to the optimization of the performance with multi-component refrigerants.展开更多

In this paper, a systematic method was developed to design, characterize and optimize a particular mechanical minipump. The optimization work was conducted to cope with the conflict between pressure head and hydraulic efficiency by an improved back-propagation neural network (BPNN) with the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II). The improved BPNN was utilized to predicate hydraulic performance and, moreover, was modified to improve the prediction accuracy. The NSGA-II was processed for minipump multi-objective optimization which is dominated by four impeller dimensions. During hydraulic optimization, the processing feasibility was also taken into consideration. Experiments were conducted to validate the above optimization methods. It was proved that the optimized minipump was improved by about 24 % in pressure head and 4.75 % in hydraulic efficiency compared to the original designed prototype. Meanwhile, the sensitivity test was used to analyze the influence of the four impeller dimensions. It was found that the blade outlet angle β2 and the impeller inlet diameter Do significantly influence the pressure head H and the hydraulic efficiency η, respec- tively. Detailed internal flow fields showed that the optimum model can relieve the impeller wake and improve both the pressure distribution and flow orientation.展开更多
