This paper tries to fabricate freeform surface feature by using smooth surface of tool electrode after tool wear in micro EDM. According to the skin effect theory, the tool end shape in the stage of uniform wear can be changed by adjusting the frequency of discharge pulse. The electrical energy distributing rule of tool electrode section in RC circuit has been investigated under the influence of skin effect, and the law of spark location change has been summarized. The experimental studies demonstrate that different shapes of tool ends can be achieved by varying the pulse frequencies of discharge power supply. Additionally, a micro part of freeform surface feature with high precision and good surface quality has been successfully obtained by micro EDM through adopting the smooth surface after tool wear.展开更多

Using national data from abovescale manufacturing enterprises, this paper investigates whether the experience of "flying geese" has transpired in China for manufacturing industries. We find that, driven by the effects of agglomeration, prior to the mid-2000s, there had been an increasing concentration of industrial activities in the coastal regions. However, as labor and land costs increased, the manufacturing sector - especially the labor-intensive industries - began to relocate from the coastal to the interior regions.展开更多

A number of possible shapes generated with pneumatic stretch forming are presented as a result of simulation studies. In this context a model of a possible facade combined from different shapes is created to show the optical effect of the simulated shapes. Additionally, the manufacturing of a device for pneumatic stretch forming is discussed and first results of transforming the stainless steel composite material with pneumatic stretch forming are shown.展开更多

The reason why Kevlar honeycomb core is used is because it is suitable for space environment in terms of lightweight and resistant to heat and shock. Measurements of the fabricated antenna were performed to confirm the simulation results. The results show good characteristics of the antennas except the axial ratio. The reason of insufficient axial ratio is assumed as fabrication error of the radiator and microstrip line.展开更多

P+ implantation into SiGe virtual substrate induces a narrow defect region slightly below the SiGe/Si interface, which gives rise to strongly enhanced strain relaxation of SiGe virtual substrate. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) tests show that the degree of relaxation of SiGe layer is 96% while 85% before implantation. After annealed, the sample appeared free of Threading Dislocation densities (TDs) within the SiGe layer to the limit of Trans-mission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis. Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) test of strained Si channel surface shows that Root Mean Square (RMS) is 1.1nm. The Direct Current (DC) characters measured by HP 4155B indicate that the maximum saturated transconductance is twice bigger than that of bulk Si PMOSFET.展开更多

However, does the relocation demonstrate industrial clustering effect? Empirical studies based on twenty two-digit manufacturing industries in 27provinces from 2000 to 2009 demonstrate that industrial clustering effect appeared in central and western regions which had undertaken industrial relocation from eastern region; however, the studies do not show excessive administrative interference as evidenced by the significantly improved productivity of the relocated industries. Compared with non-labor- intensive manufacturing industries, labor-intensive manufacturing industries are easier to form cyclic accumulative effects. Studies also revealed that improvement in supporting infrastructure, industrial chain and higher labor quality in non-agriculture employment during urbanization are significant for central and western regions to undertake industrial relocation.展开更多

This tank or trough will be submitted to important mechanical and thermal loads and pressure according to the various manufacturing processes. The authors propose a model of thermal and mechanical loads which takes into account the operating conditions of the tank. The analysis of the first 10 modes of vibration of the frame shows that the frequencies are much higher when the filling rate is high. They are higher for steel 45SCD6 than for the $355. The simulation results show that for a selected type of steel, the equivalent Von Mises stress increases along with increase in fill rates and thermal gradient. It appears that the influence of the thermal gradient is predominant. For both steels, the Von Mises equivalent stress is maximum in the beam 32 when the thermal gradient is at its lowest stage, and in the beam 40 for the greatest thermal gradient.展开更多

Identifying the forces that contribute to variations of stock prices is probably one of the most researched areas in finance. This study relates stock prices to the stock volatility (measured by beta) and to corporate attributes, i.e., size, liquidity, profits, leverage, and returns. The study is based on manufacturing sector in India, and it is based on a sample of 3,027 manufacturing companies during the periods from 1991-1992 to 2006-2007 collected from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) database. The regressions were performed with the dummies for time effect and firm effect separately and then for both effects together. Panel data models have been used to estimate the stock prices equation. The model finds out fixed and random effects between independent and explanatory variables and analyzes them through Hausman test. The paper also studies multicollineairity that may exist amongst the selected variables. The study shows that volatility (represented by Beta), profit (represented by earnings per share (EPS)), and size (represented by market capitalization (MCAP)) significantly influence the stock prices (at the level of 5%). Panel data analysis using Hausman test supports the fixed effect model.展开更多
