The aim of this study is to develop a new simple device which can be attached to food packages as a quality indicator for turbot sashimi. In this study, a solid TTI based on the reaction between tyrosinase and tyrosine was developed. The Arrhenius behavior of this enzymatic TTI was studied. The kinetics of the tyrosinase-based TTI was investigated in the form of color change from colorless to dark black induced by the enzymatic reaction. The mathematical formula for the color alterations as a function of time and temperature was established. The longest indication time for the developed TTI was 50 hours at 4℃. The activation energy of the tyrosinase-based TTI was 0.409 k J mol^(-1). The suitability of the tyrosinase-based TTI was validated for turbot sashimi using total plate count. The feasibility of using this TTI as a quality indicator for turbot sashimi was assessed based on the activation energy and indication time. Therefore, the tyrosinasebased TTI system developed in this study could be used as an effective tool for monitoring the quality changes of turbot sashimi during the distribution and storage.展开更多

Methods Human osteoblast-like cell line MG63 was incubated with leptin of different doses for 24, 48 and 72 h, respectively. The proliferation of MG63 was determined by methylene blue assay. Alphal (1) collagen gene expression in MG63 was determined by real time flourescenee quantitive PCR (FQ-PCR), both with 17β-E2 as positive control. Results Leptin accelerated the proliferation and differentiation of MG63 in dose and time-dependent manners, with the best effect at 10^-7 mol/L at 72 h. Compared with 17β-E2, leptin showed a weaker promoting effect at all of the three time point: 24, 48 and 72 h. While the effects of the two hormones have an approaching trend the time prolonged. Conclusion Leptin has the effects of accelerating the proliferation and differentiation of MG63 cells in vitro, which is more enduring and later than that of 17β-E2.展开更多

Methods A total of 120 patients with SHS after stroke(stage I) were recruited and superficial needling therapy was applied. Two obvious tenderness points on the affected shoulder of patients were found out. The site 80–100 mm down each tenderness point was selected for superficial needling. Bimanual needling technique was applied after inserting needles. The surrounding of tenderness points was pinched and grasped by left hand above the needling, and the technique of green dragon swaying tail was applied by right hand. The needles at each acupoint were manipulated for3 min and retained for 30 min. The analgesic effect was evaluated dynamically by visual analogue scale(VAS) in 120 patients before treatment, immediately after treatment, 30 min after treatment, 1 h after treatment and 24 h after treatment. The analgesic effects at different time were statistically analyzed by generalized estimating equation. Results The mean values of VAS were 7.483, 3.950, 4.767, 5.917 and 7.217, respectively, before treatment, immediately after treatment, 30 min after treatment, 1 h after treatment and 24 h after treatment. The difference of analgesic effect at different time was statistically significant(P〈0.01); the difference of analgesic effect of superficial needling in treatment of SHS after stroke was significant between immediately after treatment and 30 min after treatment(both P〈0.05), while there was no significant difference between 1 h after treatment and 24 h after treatment(both P〈0.05). Conclusion Analgesic effect of superficial needling for shoulder pain of SHS after stroke was different at different time points and decreased over time; analgesic effect was the most significant immediately after treatment and the optimal duration of analgesic effect was from immediately to 30 min after superficial needling therapy.展开更多

Methods Computer searches were conducted in the CNKI literature database from January 1994 to August 2009, using the keywords "facial paralysis acupuncture" and "treating opportunity/acupuncture opportunity". According to the standard of Cochrane, the literatures were retrieved and conducted with evidence-based analysis. The SPSS 13.0 software was used for the statistical analysis. Results Among the 133 retrieved literatures which met the inclusion criteria of the study, there were 11 literatures on the effect of acupuncture or electroacupuncture treatment in acute stage observation group and conventional medical treatment group. Using Mann-Whitney U test, the difference of treatment effect is statistically significant (P〈0.001). Conclusion Early intervention in acupuncture treatment for facial paralysis in acute stage can improve the efficacy and promote neurological recovery. In the acute stage, animal experiments and clinical observations provide evidence to support the application of electric needle and traditional acupuncture treatments.展开更多

In this article, related literatures in recent years on influence factors of needle retention duration have been collected and reviewed in terms of duration, type and state of illness, point selection and so on. Modern related researches, to a certain extent, have approved and advanced the viewpoints of the previous physicians. However, few of the studies are randomized controlled trials of evidence-based medicine. Most of them still remain in observation stage. Therefore, scientific designing methods should be adopted in the future for researching approaches of TCM. Systematic and through studies should be carried out on needle retention duration, so as to comprehend the principle and define the optimal duration for different diseases. In this way, a standardized and systematic model on acupuncture treatment can be established.展开更多

Methods: A total of 20 cases with severe primary dysmenorrhea were randomly allocated into a group of single point. In each treatment, the needles retained for 30 min and 15 person times were observed in each group. The VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) values were recorded immediately before needling, 5 min, 20 min and 30 min upon insertion, and 30 min, 60 min and 120 min upon withdrawal for statistical analysis. Results: Immediate pain relief occurred following acupuncture and the pain-alleviating effect was incremented within the 30 min of needle retaining. At 20 min upon needle insertion, the pain relief from needling multiple points appeared substantially stronger than needling a single point (P〈0.05) and this effect remained until 2 h after withdraw of the needles. Conclusion: Needling a single point or multiple points can both produce remarkably immediate pain relief for patients with severe primary dysmenorrhea and share similar time-effect relationship. However, needling multiple points showed substantially better effects than needling a single point in a number of time points.展开更多

Qi-effects are based upon the magnetic force released by magnetic platelets fastened onto acupoints. This property supports and proves one of the definitions of qi which says, that "qi is bio-electrical magnetism" or "qi is defined as any type of energy which is able to demonstrate power and strength. This energy can be electricity, magnetism, heat, or light". Furthermore, it is suggested to use magnet acupuncture parallel to needle acupuncture according to traditional Chinese body acupuncture rules scientifically controlled in order to carry out research on qi and qi-effects. Here it might even be possible to find a quality and even a parameter to measure the intensity of qi-effects, such as by simply measuring the possible change of the heart beat frequency (pulse frequency) before and after application of the needle or magnetic platelet. It is also possible that there is another parameter in existence which will be changed by the impact of qi and acupuncture which still needs to be detected.展开更多

That acupuncture therapy can be called “Regenerative Acupuncture”, which is based upon the idea that by the unlimited and universal power of qi the process of creation can be triggered again, disabled or destroyed physiological functions of organs and tissues can be restored, and even the reconstruction and renewal of a physically disabled or destroyed organ or tissue might be possible. Regenerative Acupuncture, its point selection and its rationale are based on the ancient and modem Chinese acupuncture literature and clinical experiences of the authors. Now this acupuncture method was introduced by one case report.展开更多

In the acute stage, animal experiments and clinical observations provide evidence to support the application of electric needle and traditional acupuncture treatments.

文摘Needle retention duration, as an essential link in acupuncture treatment, has always been valued by physicians in all ages of the Chinese history. In this way, a standardized and systematic model on acupuncture treatment can be established.

文摘Objective: To observe the time-effect relationship of needling a single point or multiple points for pain relief in patients with severe primary dysmenorrhea. However, needling multiple points showed substantially better effects than needling a single point in a number of time points.
文摘Qi as well as its ability to cure ailments can be released without needling by the application of magnetism. It is also possible that there is another parameter in existence which will be changed by the impact of qi and acupuncture which still needs to be detected.
文摘Acupuncture can promote the regeneration of tissues. Now this acupuncture method was introduced by one case report.
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of combining two needling manipulations,Er Long Xi Zhu(two dragons playing with a pearl)and Guo Yan Re(heat produced to reach the eyes),in treating dry eye syndrome(DES)of lung-yin deficiency pattern.Methods:Fifty-six eligible DES patients of lung-yin deficiency were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 28 cases in each group.Same acupoints were selected in the two groups:Cuanzhu(BL 2),Sizhukong(TE 23),Taiyang(EX-HN 5)and Fengchi(GB 20)were chosen as the major points and Feishu(BL 13)and Chize(LU 5)as the adjuvant.Er Long Xi Zhu and Guo Yan Re needling manipulations were applied in the observation group while twirling reinforcing manipulation was used in the control group.Treatment was conducted once per day in both groups, for two sets of 15 consecutive days at a 2-day interval.Changes in the symptom score, tear break-up time(BUT)and tear production were observed afterwards, and the clinical efficacy was also compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 92.8%in the observation group, higher than 71.4%in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the symptom score, tear BUT and tear production showed significant improvements in both groups(all P<0.05);the symptom score,BUT and tear production in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Given the same acupoint selection, combining Er Long Xi Zhu and Guo Yan Re needling manipulations can produce more significant clinical efficacy than twirling reinforcing manipulation in treating DES of lung-yin deficiency pattern.
文摘Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of treating insomnia with mind-tranquilizing acupuncture. Method: Sixty three patients were randomly divided into a treatment group of 32 cases and a control group of 31 cases. The treatment group received mind-tranquilizing acupuncture and the control group, oral depression relieving and mind-calming herbal granules, for 30 days. Results: The response rate was 87.5% in the treatment group and 77.4% in the control group. There were significant differences in falling-sleep time, lasting period and times of nocturnal waking (P 〈 0.05) and a very significant difference in dream improvement (P〈 0.01) between the two groups. There were no significant differences in afterwaking conditions and sleep evaluation (P〉 0.05). Conclusion: Clinically mind tranquilizing acupuncture has a better effect on insomnia than depression-relieving and mind-calming herbal granules.
文摘Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of intramedullary Kirschner wires for the treatment of unstable tibial shaft fractures in children. Methods: This prospective study was conducted at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College from June 2005 to June 2010. Sixty-six children having closed fracture of the tibial shaft with a mean age of 7.7 years (range, 2-14 years) were recruited from emergency and outpatient department. They were treated with percutaneous intramedullary Kirschner wires. The clinical results of our study were rated on the basis of the criteria of union, nonunion, delayed union or malunion. All children were followed for one year. Results: Children achieved union in a mean time of 8 weeks (range, 6-10 weeks). Postoperatively, three children (4.55%) had delayed union, one (1.52%) valgus deformity of lower leg, three (4.55%) post- operative knee pain and twelve (18.18%) skin irritation at pin site. Wires were removed after 8-22 weeks without any complications. No patient was lost to follow-up. The results were excellent in 95.45% and good in 4.55% children. Conclusion: This technique is cost-effective, simple, quick to perform, safe and reliable and avoids pro- longed hospitalization with good results.
