The polymer gel dosimeters consisted of 2%~4% N,N-methyelene-bis-acrylamide cross-linker,2%~4% 2-hydroxyethylacrylate monomer and gelatin at 3% and 5%. The dosimeters were irradiated by using 60Co teletherapy γ-ray source up to 20 Gy at a constant dose rate. The relaxation rate of water proton in the dosimeters at different doses and co-monomer concentrations were measured using a nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The rate of elapsed polymerization decreases with increasing the dose and the initial concentration of co-monomers. The rate of consumption of co-monomers increases with an increase of the polymerization and the gelatin content of the polymer gel.展开更多

Accelerated evaluation on the ELDRS can be realized by adopting a proper dose-rate switching method. Meanwhile, the irradiation time can also be reduced. FBG' s wavelength shift depending on strain variance has bee...In this presentation the feasibility and capability of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) employed in bridge health monitoring are demonstrated on a real bridge. FBG' s wavelength shift depending on strain variance has been tested. The technique of FBG installation on bridges has been developed. 12 FBG strain sensors and 3 temperature sensors have been successfully embedded in the prestressed concrete box girder during the construction of Heilongjiang Hulan River Bridge. The prestressing tension process and quasi-static loading process of the girder were monitored with those sensors before it was installed onto the bridge. After the bridge was completed, the FBG sensors embedded have been utilized to monitor the strain shift of the beam under quasi-static load, traffic load and temperature. The results show that the traffic fluxes, possible tatigue damage and deflection of the bridge can be revealed conveniently through strain measurements with these FBG sensors, which provide key information for structural health diagnosis. The fact that the FBG strain sensors have withstood the ordeal of harsh construction process and lasted for more than one year proves that their durability and stability can satisfy the requirements for bridge health monitoring. It is also shown that the FBG strain sensor is more adaptive to long-term structural health monitoring than the electric resistance strain gauge.展开更多
Objective:The aim of the study was to observe the efficacies of 89Sr and combination treatments with regional extra-beam radiotherapy for cancer patients with multiple bone metastasis.Methods:A total of 106 patients w...Objective:The aim of the study was to observe the efficacies of 89Sr and combination treatments with regional extra-beam radiotherapy for cancer patients with multiple bone metastasis.Methods:A total of 106 patients were divided into two groups, and each group were 53 patients:the simple 89Sr treatment group (simple group), and local radiotherapy and 89Sr treatment group (combination group).The dose of 4 mci of 89Sr was made in every patient by intravenous injection, 6 MV linear accelerator external irradiation dose was given 30-60 Gy/2-4 weeks.Results:The effective rates of simple and combination groups were respectively 83.01% and 90.56%; the effective improvement rates of the bone focus of two groups were 75.48% and 86.8%, respectively.There was homologous improvement in general conditions.Conclusion:89Sr treatment has a certain effect to the cancers of whole-body multiple bone metastases.And the combined treatment with regional radiotherapy can improve the efficacy and life quality of cancer patients with bone metastasis.展开更多

The experimental results show that emulsifier content and type have an important effect on crystallization quantity of emulsion explosive. The crystallization quantity will reduce with Span-g0 content from 2% to 4%, so the demulsification and crystallization will decrease if the emulsifier content improves appropriately and the dynamic pressure resistance will increase. For emulsion explosive emulsified by T-152 and Span-g0, the crystallization quantity with T-152 is less than that of Span-g0 under the same dynamic pressure. This shows that the emulsifying effect ofT-152 is better than Soan-80.展开更多

The measurements were made using cylindrical ionization chambers based on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) TRS-398 protocol for absorbed dose-to-water dosimetric standards, and the percentage deviation was found to be between 0.5 % - 1%. Objective:The aim of this study was to measure the leakage by two methods with ion chamber and ready packs film,and to investigate the feasibility and the advantages of using two dosimetry methods for assessing leakag...Objective:The aim of this study was to measure the leakage by two methods with ion chamber and ready packs film,and to investigate the feasibility and the advantages of using two dosimetry methods for assessing leakage radiation around the head of the linear accelerators.Methods:Measurements were performed using a 30 cm3ion chamber;the gantry at 0°,the X-ray head at 0°,the field size at between the central axis and a plane surface at a FSD of 100 as a reference,a series of concentric circles having radii of 50,75,and 100 cm with their common centre at the reference point.The absorbed dose was measured at the reference point,and this would be used as the reference dose.With the diaphragm closed,the measurements were taken along the circumference of the three circles and at 45°intervals.Results:Leakage radiations while the treatment head was in the vertical position varied between 0.016%–0.04%.With the head lying horizontally,leakage radiation was the same order magnitude and varied between 0.02%–0.07%.In the second method,the verification was accomplished by closing the collimator jaws and covering the head of the treatment unit with the ready pack films.The films were marked to permit the determination of their positions on the machine after exposed and processed.With the diaphragm closed,and the ready packs films around the linear accelerator the beam turned on for 2500 cGy(2500 MU).The optical density of these films was measured and compared with this of the reference dose.Leakage radiation varied according to the film positions and the magnitude of leakage was between 0.005%–0.075%.Conclusion:The differences between the values of the leakage radiation levels observed at different measurement points do not only reflect differences in the effective shielding thickness of the head wall,but are also related to differences in the distances between the target and the measurement points.The experimental errors involved in dosimetric measurement also contribute to such differences.展开更多
Objective The aim of the study was to compare flattening filter-free(FFF) beams and conventional flattening filter(FF) beams in volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) for cervical cancer after surgery, through a retro...Objective The aim of the study was to compare flattening filter-free(FFF) beams and conventional flattening filter(FF) beams in volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) for cervical cancer after surgery, through a retrospective planning study.Methods VMAT plans of FFF beams and normal FF beams were designed for a cohort of 15 patients. The prescribed dose was 45 Gy to 1.8 Gy per fraction, and at least 95% of the planning target volume received this dose. Doses were computed with a commercially available treatment planning system using a Monte Carlo(MC) algorithm. Plans were compared according to dose-volume histogram analysis in terms of planning target volume homogeneity and conformity indices(HI and CI), as well as organs at risk(OAR) dose and volume parameters. Results FFF-VMAT was similar to FF-VMAT in terms of CI, but inferior to FF-VMAT considering HI. No statistically differences were observed between FFF-VMAT and FF-VMAT in following organ at risks including pelvic bone marrow, small bowel, bladder, rectum, and normal tissue(NT)..Conclusion For patients with cervical cancer after hysterectomy, the FFF beam achieved target and OAR dose distribution similar to that of the FF beam. Reduction of beam-on time in cervical cancer is beneficial.展开更多

Effective doses were estimated in different floors of the five selected hospitals by using the (CR-39) solid state nuclear track detectors with the guide of 1CRP Publication 66. The hanged dosimeters were left for about 60 days and after etching the radon concentration, annual effective dose and effective dose equivalents were calculated. Annual effective doses were estimated as 〈 1 mSv, so the results reveal the present concentrations to be below the standard values in the studied hospitals. Therefore, no healthy risks concerning the radon activities are existing in the hospital staff and patients in these hospitals.展开更多

In some cases, the adjacent fields are orthogonal, such as the craniospinal fields used in the treatment of medulloblastoma. Another example is the irradiation of head and neck tumors when the lateral neck fields are placed adjacent to the anterior supraclavicular field. In each of these situations, there is a possibility of introducing very large dosage errors across the junction. Consequently, this region is at risk for tumor recurrence if it is underdosed or severe complications if it is overdosed. Four millimeter overlap and gap resulted in an unacceptable dose in homogeneity in the junction. As a result of this study, the magnitudes of hot and cold spots might be clinically acceptable for 3 mm gap between photon fields.展开更多

In this preliminary study, a quantitative investigation of the similarity in the basic photon and electron dosimetry data from the Siemens Oncor linear accelerators at our hospital(Children's Cancer Hospital, Cairo, Egypt) was reported. Methods: The output factor(OF), wedge factors(WF), percentage depth dose(PDD), and beam profile for the 6 and 10 MV photon beams were measured. Results: The measured output factors varied by less than about 1% for each field size. The difference between the maximum and minimum PDD values at each depth was less than about 1%. The difference between the beam flattnes and symetry was no more than 1% at all off-axis distances. For electron the results showed that the PDD, OF, and the beam profiles were matched within 1% differences. Conclusion: These results strongly suggest that it is feasible to establish one reference photon and electron dosimetry data set for the two machines and nominal energies.展开更多

To establish optimal pH and peptone concentration for induction of invertase gene (suc2 of Saccharomyces cerevisaie) under PXPR2 in new Y. lipolytica A-101 invertase positive (Suc+) transformants their growth on Bioscreen C was analyzed. Minimal mineral medium with thiamine (MMT) and sucrose (1%), adjusted to pH from 5.8 to 7.6 and supplemented by 0-0.1% of peptone was used. Biomass (OD), maximal specific growth rate (μmax) and consumed sucrose were measured. Maximal yeasts growth, resulting from the optimal PXPR2 induction, was observed at pH 7.2 and with very low peptone doses (0.0025% and 0.01%). For five clones (A-101 1356-5; A-101 B54-6; A-101 B57-4; A-101 A18 and W29 ura3-302) only 0.005% of peptone was needed. Amount of hydrolyzed sucrose varied from 24% to 83% and μmax from 0.06 to 0.28 hl. Suc^+ clones differ in growth parameters, so the site of yeast cassette integration into genome influences expression level of suc2 under PXPR2. Designing large scale processes with Y. lipolytica Suc^+ clones peptone concentration has to be 100 times smaller than recommended so far.展开更多

Methods: Based on the dosage distribution of tumor and adjacent sensitive organs, and dose-volume histogram (DVH), Topslane three-dimensional therapy plan was used to compare IORT and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) in 12 cases of HCC. Results: Taking the center of tumors as the isodose center, the V90 (volume of 90% dose distribution) of IORT was significantly better than that of 3D-CRT, and median absorbed doses of normal organs in IORT was significantly lower than that in 3D-CRT. Conclusion: The V90 of IORT is better than that of 3D-CRT in HCC, and neighboring sensitive organs were effectively protected by IORT. The tumors absorbed dose and local control rate are improved in IORT.展开更多
Objective:The optimal treatment of patients with metastatic spinal cord compression(MSCC) is still being debated.This randomized trial was planned to compare the functional outcome and its related prognostic factors,t...Objective:The optimal treatment of patients with metastatic spinal cord compression(MSCC) is still being debated.This randomized trial was planned to compare the functional outcome and its related prognostic factors,toxicity and in-field recurrence of the three schedules of radiotherapy.Methods:Two hundred and eighty five patients enrolled in the study of which 95 received 1 × 8 Gy,100 received 10 x 3 Gy and 90 received the radiation treatment of 20 × 2 Gy.Irradiation was performed with 6-10 Mv linear accelerators or cobalt-60 units by single posterior field or parallel opposed fields according to depth of irradiation spines.Premedication with dexamethasone was started from the first day of clinico-radiologic diagnosis till 4-5 days after the end of radiotherapy(RT) then tapered off during 10 days.Potential prognostic factors were evaluated with respect to functional outcome.Results:All groups were balanced for patient's characteristics and potential prognostic factors.No statistically significant difference was observed between the 3 groups as regard functional outcome and toxicity while single fraction was associated with higher in-field recurrences(22.8%) with statistically significant difference between the 3 groups(P = 0.01).Functional outcome was significantly better with younger age(≤ 60 y),Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(ECOG-PS) of 1-2,involved vertebra of 1-2,favorable tumor type,absence of visceral or other bone metastasis,decreased time of developing motor deficit before radiotherapy,long interval between cancer diagnosis to metastatic spinal cord compression,and normal ambulatory status.Conclusion:The three schedules provided similar functional outcome.Single-radiation dose was associated with higher in-field recurrence.To minimize treatment time and costs,the dose of 1 × 8 Gy is recommended for patients with poor predicated survival and 10 × 3 Gy for other patients.展开更多

The technical specifications of th...Dynamitron DC1500/25/04 type EBA (Electron beam accelerator), model JOB 188, was manufactured by IBA Industrial (Radiation Dynamics, Inc.) and installed at IPEN-CNEN/SP, in 1978. The technical specifications of the EBA are: energy 0.5 to 1.5 MeV; beam current: 0.3 to 25.0 mA; beam scanning: 60 to 120 cm; beam width: 25.4 mm and frequency: 100 Hz. Nowadays, this accelerator has been used for innumerable applications, such as: For sterilization of medical, pharmaceutical and biological products, treatment of industrial and domestic effluents and sludge, preservation and disinfestations of foods and agricultural products. Other important application are lignocellulosic material irradiation as a pre-treatment to produce ethanol bio-fuel, decontamination of pesticide packing, solid residues remediation, organic compounds removal from wastewater, treatment of effluent from petroleum production units, crosslinking of foams, wires and electric cables. Electron accelerator JOB 188 is, also, very important composite and nanocomposite materials and carbon fibers irradiation, irradiated grafting ion-exchange membranes for fuel cells application, natural polymers and multilayer packages irradiation and biodegradable blends production. The energy of the electron beam is calculated as a function of the current in the accelerator high-voltage divisor, taking into account the thickness and density of the material to be irradiated. This energy is calculated considering the electron through the entire material and the distance from the titanium foil window, so that the absorbed doses at the points of entrance and exit are equivalent on the material. The dose is directly proportional to the beam current and the exposure time of the material under the electron beam and inversely proportional to the scan width. The aim of this paper is to analyze the power system parameters of the EBA Dynamitron DC 1500/25/04, such as, voltage and RMS (Root-mean-square) current in the oscillator system, high voltage generator and waveform. For this purpose software developed in the Radiation Technology Center at IPEN/CNEN-SP to simulate the energy efficiency of this industrial accelerator. Finally, it is also targeted to compare theoretical dosimetry using parameters of energy and beam current with data from the accelerator power system. This knowledge and technology will be very useful and essential for the control system upgrade of EBA, mainly Dynamitron DC 1500/25/04 taking into consideration that radiation processing technology for industrial and environmental applications has been developed and used worldwide.展开更多

In this study, the SPQ of citrus orchards was assessed under three different soil managements, namely no-tillage using herbicides, tillage under chemical farming, and no-tillage under organic farming. Commonly used indicators, such as soil bulk density,organic carbon content, and structural stability index, were considered in conjunction with capacitive indicators estimated by the Beerkan estimation of soil transfer parameter(BEST) method. The measurements taken at the L'Alcoleja Experimental Station in Spain yielded optimal values for soil bulk density and organic carbon content in 100% and 70% of cases for organic farming. The values of structural stability index indicated that the soil was stable in 90% of cases. Differences between the soil management practices were particularly clear in terms of plant-available water capacity and saturated hydraulic conductivity. Under organic farming, the soil had the greatest ability to store and provide water to plant roots, and to quickly drain excess water and facilitate root proliferation.Management practices adopted under organic farming(such as vegetation cover between the trees, chipping after pruning, and spreading the chips on the soil surface) improved the SPQ. Conversely, the conventional management strategies unequivocally led to soil degradation owing to the loss of organic matter, soil compaction, and reduced structural stability. The results in this study show that organic farming has a clear positive impact on the SPQ, suggesting that tillage and herbicide treatments should be avoided.展开更多

文摘In this presentation the feasibility and capability of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) employed in bridge health monitoring are demonstrated on a real bridge. FBG' s wavelength shift depending on strain variance has been tested. The technique of FBG installation on bridges has been developed. 12 FBG strain sensors and 3 temperature sensors have been successfully embedded in the prestressed concrete box girder during the construction of Heilongjiang Hulan River Bridge. The prestressing tension process and quasi-static loading process of the girder were monitored with those sensors before it was installed onto the bridge. After the bridge was completed, the FBG sensors embedded have been utilized to monitor the strain shift of the beam under quasi-static load, traffic load and temperature. The results show that the traffic fluxes, possible tatigue damage and deflection of the bridge can be revealed conveniently through strain measurements with these FBG sensors, which provide key information for structural health diagnosis. The fact that the FBG strain sensors have withstood the ordeal of harsh construction process and lasted for more than one year proves that their durability and stability can satisfy the requirements for bridge health monitoring. It is also shown that the FBG strain sensor is more adaptive to long-term structural health monitoring than the electric resistance strain gauge.
文摘Objective:The aim of the study was to observe the efficacies of 89Sr and combination treatments with regional extra-beam radiotherapy for cancer patients with multiple bone metastasis.Methods:A total of 106 patients were divided into two groups, and each group were 53 patients:the simple 89Sr treatment group (simple group), and local radiotherapy and 89Sr treatment group (combination group).The dose of 4 mci of 89Sr was made in every patient by intravenous injection, 6 MV linear accelerator external irradiation dose was given 30-60 Gy/2-4 weeks.Results:The effective rates of simple and combination groups were respectively 83.01% and 90.56%; the effective improvement rates of the bone focus of two groups were 75.48% and 86.8%, respectively.There was homologous improvement in general conditions.Conclusion:89Sr treatment has a certain effect to the cancers of whole-body multiple bone metastases.And the combined treatment with regional radiotherapy can improve the efficacy and life quality of cancer patients with bone metastasis.

文摘Liquid phase oxidation of toluene is an environmental benign route for the production of benzoic acid.In a φ48mm bubble column reactor,the commercial process of toluene liquid phase oxidation was conducted with Co(CH3COO)2.4H2O as catalyst.The Co2+ concentration [Co2+] was determined by extraction spectrophotometry and hereby the Co3+ concentration [Co3+] was obtained by mass balance.The results showed that [Co3+] reached the maximum at about 25-30min.[Co3+] increased with increasing Co catalyst amount at total Co concentration<150 mg.L-1 of toluene.The conversion of toluene,yield and selectivity of benzoic acid increased with the increasing [Co3+/Co2+] max.A high [Co3+] and a high [Co3+]/[Co2+] ratio are beneficial to the reaction.

文摘Dynamic pressure was applied on emulsion explosive by using an underwater explosion measuring apparatus, and the crystallization quantity was measured by dissolution method after emulsion explosive was pressed; the influence of emulsi- fier content and type was analyzed. The experimental results show that emulsifier content and type have an important effect on crystallization quantity of emulsion explosive. The crystallization quantity will reduce with Span-g0 content from 2% to 4%, so the demulsification and crystallization will decrease if the emulsifier content improves appropriately and the dynamic pressure resistance will increase. For emulsion explosive emulsified by T-152 and Span-g0, the crystallization quantity with T-152 is less than that of Span-g0 under the same dynamic pressure. This shows that the emulsifying effect ofT-152 is better than Soan-80.
文摘The MOSFETs are built on SIMOX material, the chide positive charge, interface state, threshold voltage and leakage current of MOSFETs/SOI after 60Co-rirradiation are measured with I-V technique. The results indicate that the accumulation rate of chide charge density is more than that of interface state density in dose range of 0-3×104Gy (Si), and the 'on' radiation bias is worst case for NMOSFET and PMOSFET.
文摘The dosimetric inter-comparison studies carry pertinent significance to ensure uniform radiation dose delivery for clinical trials. This paper investigates the comparative performance analysis of an X-ray high power linear accelerator per- formed by the International Dosimetry Survey Mission and Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Oncology (INMOL), Lahore. The measurements were made using cylindrical ionization chambers based on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) TRS-398 protocol for absorbed dose-to-water dosimetric standards, and the percentage deviation was found to be between 0.5 % - 1%. The dosimetric analysis concerning linear X-ray accelerator output performed by INMOL, Lahore was found to be in good agreement with the results of IAEA Dosimtery Survey Mission.
文摘Objective:The aim of this study was to measure the leakage by two methods with ion chamber and ready packs film,and to investigate the feasibility and the advantages of using two dosimetry methods for assessing leakage radiation around the head of the linear accelerators.Methods:Measurements were performed using a 30 cm3ion chamber;the gantry at 0°,the X-ray head at 0°,the field size at between the central axis and a plane surface at a FSD of 100 as a reference,a series of concentric circles having radii of 50,75,and 100 cm with their common centre at the reference point.The absorbed dose was measured at the reference point,and this would be used as the reference dose.With the diaphragm closed,the measurements were taken along the circumference of the three circles and at 45°intervals.Results:Leakage radiations while the treatment head was in the vertical position varied between 0.016%–0.04%.With the head lying horizontally,leakage radiation was the same order magnitude and varied between 0.02%–0.07%.In the second method,the verification was accomplished by closing the collimator jaws and covering the head of the treatment unit with the ready pack films.The films were marked to permit the determination of their positions on the machine after exposed and processed.With the diaphragm closed,and the ready packs films around the linear accelerator the beam turned on for 2500 cGy(2500 MU).The optical density of these films was measured and compared with this of the reference dose.Leakage radiation varied according to the film positions and the magnitude of leakage was between 0.005%–0.075%.Conclusion:The differences between the values of the leakage radiation levels observed at different measurement points do not only reflect differences in the effective shielding thickness of the head wall,but are also related to differences in the distances between the target and the measurement points.The experimental errors involved in dosimetric measurement also contribute to such differences.

文摘Objective The aim of the study was to compare flattening filter-free(FFF) beams and conventional flattening filter(FF) beams in volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) for cervical cancer after surgery, through a retrospective planning study.Methods VMAT plans of FFF beams and normal FF beams were designed for a cohort of 15 patients. The prescribed dose was 45 Gy to 1.8 Gy per fraction, and at least 95% of the planning target volume received this dose. Doses were computed with a commercially available treatment planning system using a Monte Carlo(MC) algorithm. Plans were compared according to dose-volume histogram analysis in terms of planning target volume homogeneity and conformity indices(HI and CI), as well as organs at risk(OAR) dose and volume parameters. Results FFF-VMAT was similar to FF-VMAT in terms of CI, but inferior to FF-VMAT considering HI. No statistically differences were observed between FFF-VMAT and FF-VMAT in following organ at risks including pelvic bone marrow, small bowel, bladder, rectum, and normal tissue(NT)..Conclusion For patients with cervical cancer after hysterectomy, the FFF beam achieved target and OAR dose distribution similar to that of the FF beam. Reduction of beam-on time in cervical cancer is beneficial.
文摘The aim of the study was to compare radon concentrations and effective dose equivalent in state hospitals inside the Erbil city having different periods of building. Effective doses were estimated in different floors of the five selected hospitals by using the (CR-39) solid state nuclear track detectors with the guide of 1CRP Publication 66. The hanged dosimeters were left for about 60 days and after etching the radon concentration, annual effective dose and effective dose equivalents were calculated. Annual effective doses were estimated as 〈 1 mSv, so the results reveal the present concentrations to be below the standard values in the studied hospitals. Therefore, no healthy risks concerning the radon activities are existing in the hospital staff and patients in these hospitals.
文摘Adjacent treatment fields are commonly employed in external beam radiation therapy, such as the mantle and inverted-Y fields for the treatment of Hodgkin's disease. In some cases, the adjacent fields are orthogonal, such as the craniospinal fields used in the treatment of medulloblastoma. Another example is the irradiation of head and neck tumors when the lateral neck fields are placed adjacent to the anterior supraclavicular field. In each of these situations, there is a possibility of introducing very large dosage errors across the junction. Consequently, this region is at risk for tumor recurrence if it is underdosed or severe complications if it is overdosed. Four millimeter overlap and gap resulted in an unacceptable dose in homogeneity in the junction. As a result of this study, the magnitudes of hot and cold spots might be clinically acceptable for 3 mm gap between photon fields.
文摘Objective: The dosimetric characteristics for linear accelerators with the same model, and nominal energy are known to be very similar, as long as the machines are unaltered from the manufacturer's original specifications. In this preliminary study, a quantitative investigation of the similarity in the basic photon and electron dosimetry data from the Siemens Oncor linear accelerators at our hospital(Children's Cancer Hospital, Cairo, Egypt) was reported. Methods: The output factor(OF), wedge factors(WF), percentage depth dose(PDD), and beam profile for the 6 and 10 MV photon beams were measured. Results: The measured output factors varied by less than about 1% for each field size. The difference between the maximum and minimum PDD values at each depth was less than about 1%. The difference between the beam flattnes and symetry was no more than 1% at all off-axis distances. For electron the results showed that the PDD, OF, and the beam profiles were matched within 1% differences. Conclusion: These results strongly suggest that it is feasible to establish one reference photon and electron dosimetry data set for the two machines and nominal energies.
文摘According literature, the induction of Yarrowia lipolytica alkaline protease promoter (PXPR2) is efficient in pH 〉 6.0 and with high peptone dose. To establish optimal pH and peptone concentration for induction of invertase gene (suc2 of Saccharomyces cerevisaie) under PXPR2 in new Y. lipolytica A-101 invertase positive (Suc+) transformants their growth on Bioscreen C was analyzed. Minimal mineral medium with thiamine (MMT) and sucrose (1%), adjusted to pH from 5.8 to 7.6 and supplemented by 0-0.1% of peptone was used. Biomass (OD), maximal specific growth rate (μmax) and consumed sucrose were measured. Maximal yeasts growth, resulting from the optimal PXPR2 induction, was observed at pH 7.2 and with very low peptone doses (0.0025% and 0.01%). For five clones (A-101 1356-5; A-101 B54-6; A-101 B57-4; A-101 A18 and W29 ura3-302) only 0.005% of peptone was needed. Amount of hydrolyzed sucrose varied from 24% to 83% and μmax from 0.06 to 0.28 hl. Suc^+ clones differ in growth parameters, so the site of yeast cassette integration into genome influences expression level of suc2 under PXPR2. Designing large scale processes with Y. lipolytica Suc^+ clones peptone concentration has to be 100 times smaller than recommended so far.

文摘Objective: To investigate the feasibility of intra-operative radiation therapy (IORT) in hepato-cellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Based on the dosage distribution of tumor and adjacent sensitive organs, and dose-volume histogram (DVH), Topslane three-dimensional therapy plan was used to compare IORT and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) in 12 cases of HCC. Results: Taking the center of tumors as the isodose center, the V90 (volume of 90% dose distribution) of IORT was significantly better than that of 3D-CRT, and median absorbed doses of normal organs in IORT was significantly lower than that in 3D-CRT. Conclusion: The V90 of IORT is better than that of 3D-CRT in HCC, and neighboring sensitive organs were effectively protected by IORT. The tumors absorbed dose and local control rate are improved in IORT.
文摘Objective:The optimal treatment of patients with metastatic spinal cord compression(MSCC) is still being debated.This randomized trial was planned to compare the functional outcome and its related prognostic factors,toxicity and in-field recurrence of the three schedules of radiotherapy.Methods:Two hundred and eighty five patients enrolled in the study of which 95 received 1 × 8 Gy,100 received 10 x 3 Gy and 90 received the radiation treatment of 20 × 2 Gy.Irradiation was performed with 6-10 Mv linear accelerators or cobalt-60 units by single posterior field or parallel opposed fields according to depth of irradiation spines.Premedication with dexamethasone was started from the first day of clinico-radiologic diagnosis till 4-5 days after the end of radiotherapy(RT) then tapered off during 10 days.Potential prognostic factors were evaluated with respect to functional outcome.Results:All groups were balanced for patient's characteristics and potential prognostic factors.No statistically significant difference was observed between the 3 groups as regard functional outcome and toxicity while single fraction was associated with higher in-field recurrences(22.8%) with statistically significant difference between the 3 groups(P = 0.01).Functional outcome was significantly better with younger age(≤ 60 y),Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(ECOG-PS) of 1-2,involved vertebra of 1-2,favorable tumor type,absence of visceral or other bone metastasis,decreased time of developing motor deficit before radiotherapy,long interval between cancer diagnosis to metastatic spinal cord compression,and normal ambulatory status.Conclusion:The three schedules provided similar functional outcome.Single-radiation dose was associated with higher in-field recurrence.To minimize treatment time and costs,the dose of 1 × 8 Gy is recommended for patients with poor predicated survival and 10 × 3 Gy for other patients.
文摘Dynamitron DC1500/25/04 type EBA (Electron beam accelerator), model JOB 188, was manufactured by IBA Industrial (Radiation Dynamics, Inc.) and installed at IPEN-CNEN/SP, in 1978. The technical specifications of the EBA are: energy 0.5 to 1.5 MeV; beam current: 0.3 to 25.0 mA; beam scanning: 60 to 120 cm; beam width: 25.4 mm and frequency: 100 Hz. Nowadays, this accelerator has been used for innumerable applications, such as: For sterilization of medical, pharmaceutical and biological products, treatment of industrial and domestic effluents and sludge, preservation and disinfestations of foods and agricultural products. Other important application are lignocellulosic material irradiation as a pre-treatment to produce ethanol bio-fuel, decontamination of pesticide packing, solid residues remediation, organic compounds removal from wastewater, treatment of effluent from petroleum production units, crosslinking of foams, wires and electric cables. Electron accelerator JOB 188 is, also, very important composite and nanocomposite materials and carbon fibers irradiation, irradiated grafting ion-exchange membranes for fuel cells application, natural polymers and multilayer packages irradiation and biodegradable blends production. The energy of the electron beam is calculated as a function of the current in the accelerator high-voltage divisor, taking into account the thickness and density of the material to be irradiated. This energy is calculated considering the electron through the entire material and the distance from the titanium foil window, so that the absorbed doses at the points of entrance and exit are equivalent on the material. The dose is directly proportional to the beam current and the exposure time of the material under the electron beam and inversely proportional to the scan width. The aim of this paper is to analyze the power system parameters of the EBA Dynamitron DC 1500/25/04, such as, voltage and RMS (Root-mean-square) current in the oscillator system, high voltage generator and waveform. For this purpose software developed in the Radiation Technology Center at IPEN/CNEN-SP to simulate the energy efficiency of this industrial accelerator. Finally, it is also targeted to compare theoretical dosimetry using parameters of energy and beam current with data from the accelerator power system. This knowledge and technology will be very useful and essential for the control system upgrade of EBA, mainly Dynamitron DC 1500/25/04 taking into consideration that radiation processing technology for industrial and environmental applications has been developed and used worldwide.

文摘Soil capacity to support life and to produce economic goods and services is strongly linked to the maintenance of good soil physical quality(SPQ). In this study, the SPQ of citrus orchards was assessed under three different soil managements, namely no-tillage using herbicides, tillage under chemical farming, and no-tillage under organic farming. Commonly used indicators, such as soil bulk density,organic carbon content, and structural stability index, were considered in conjunction with capacitive indicators estimated by the Beerkan estimation of soil transfer parameter(BEST) method. The measurements taken at the L'Alcoleja Experimental Station in Spain yielded optimal values for soil bulk density and organic carbon content in 100% and 70% of cases for organic farming. The values of structural stability index indicated that the soil was stable in 90% of cases. Differences between the soil management practices were particularly clear in terms of plant-available water capacity and saturated hydraulic conductivity. Under organic farming, the soil had the greatest ability to store and provide water to plant roots, and to quickly drain excess water and facilitate root proliferation.Management practices adopted under organic farming(such as vegetation cover between the trees, chipping after pruning, and spreading the chips on the soil surface) improved the SPQ. Conversely, the conventional management strategies unequivocally led to soil degradation owing to the loss of organic matter, soil compaction, and reduced structural stability. The results in this study show that organic farming has a clear positive impact on the SPQ, suggesting that tillage and herbicide treatments should be avoided.
