We describe the case of a patient with a 2- year history of SCLE that demonstrated a close temporal relationship with a squamous cell malignancy of the head and neck. This association has not been previously reported. We also review the evidence for SCLE as a ‘ paraneoplastic dermatosis’ and discuss the criteria for diagnosis and possible pathogenesis.展开更多

We present the case of a 64-year-old patient that was diagnosed with squamous cell lung carcinoma after being evaluated for lesions compatible with paraneoplastic acrokeratosis. With a high frequency Bazex syndrome is the earliest marker of an underlying subclinical neoplasm. An early suspicion is of the outmost importance in order to perform a prompt diagnosis of an underlying malignancy. We propose a diagnostic algorithm upon suspicion of acrokeratosis paraneoplastica and review the pathogenesis of this entity.展开更多
