Syntheses of cam profile designs and dynamics of cam designs are studied at first. Then, a cam profile design optimization model based on the six order classical spline and single DOF(degree of freedom) dynamic model of single-dwell cam mechanisms is developed. And dynamic constraints such as jumps and vibrations of followers are considered. This optimization model, with many advantages such as universalities of applications, conveniences to operations and good performances in improving kinematic and dynamic properties of cam mechanisms, is good except for the discontinuity of jerks at the end knots of cam profiles which will cause vibrations of cam systems. However, the optimization is improved by combining the six order classical spline with general polynomial spline which is the so-called "trade-offs". Finally, improved optimization is proven to have a better performance in designing cam profiles.展开更多

The desired pressure is determined by using the finite element method. A linear quadratic constant state tracking problem was considered over an infinite time interval. The optimal control law was derived by differentiating the Hamilton function with respect to system input. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed mathematical model and optimal control law, an experimental study on the pressure control of the soil chamber in shield tunneling was conducted in a laboratory. The experiment results show that soil pressure in the soil chamber in shield tunneling can be accurately controlled.展开更多

A two-wheeled sell-balance robot is taken as the research objective. This paper carried out a detailed force analysis of the robot and established a non-linear dynamics model. An adaptive tracking controller for the kinematic model of a nonhotonomic mobile robot with unknown parameters is also proposed. Using control Lyapunov function (CLF), the controller's global asymptotic stability has been proven. The adaptive trajectory tracking controller decreases the disturbance in the course of tracking control and enhances the real-time control characteristics. The simulation result indicated that the wheeled mobile robot tracking can be effectively controlled.展开更多

For a simple model with constant aggregation rates and with the migration rates and , we find that the evolution behavior of the system depends crucially on the values of the indexes υ1 and υ2. The aggregate size distribution of either species obeys a conventional scaling law for most cases. Moreover, we also generalize the two-species system to the multi-species case and analyze its kinetic behavior under the symmetrical conditions.展开更多

Wind turbine tower vibration will cause superfluous mechanical loads. To resolve the vibration issue, a method for constructng the energy function V is proposed to meet the demands of safe operation. The Lyapunov theorem has been em- bedded in a wind turbine control algorithm, proving the theoretical feasibility of stability control based on function V. Accord- ing to an analysis of this complex nonlinear model for the wind turbine, the general method of constructing an energy function suitable for a wind turbine is presented explicitly. The feasibility of applying an energy function to wind turbine vibration con- trol is verified experimentally using a 3.0-MW direct drive wind turbine model. The experimental results indicate that the dy- namic performance of the tested wind turbine model with energy function control is significantly better than that of the uncon- trolled structure in terms of the reduction of nacelle acceleration, velocity, and displacement response.展开更多

Independent harvesting efforts are applied in either species and asymmetrical intraguild predation occurs. A common resource is consumed by two competing species and at the same time predator also consumes the prey. At first we discuss the model under constant carrying capacity and make the conclusion that no limit cycle exists in this case. Then we discuss the model without intraspecific competition. Our main concern is to cover the above mentioned two cases together, i.e. the model with variable carrying capacity and intraspecific competition. We determine the steady states and examine the dynamical behavior. We also analyze the local and global stability of the interior equilibrium by Routh-Hurwitz criterion and a suitable Lyapunov function respectively. A Hopf bifur- cation occurs with respect to a parameter which is the ratio of predator's and prey's intrinsic growth rate. The possibility of bionomic equilibrium has been considered. The optimal harvest policy is formulated and solved with Pontryagin's maximum principle. Some numerical simulations are given to explain most of the analytical results.展开更多

The stochasticity in the model is a standard technique in stochastic population modeling. When the perturbations are small, by the method of stochastic Lyapunov functions, we carry out a detailed analysis on the dynamical behavior of the stochastic model regarding of the basic reproduction number R0. If R0 ≤ 1, the solution of the model is oscillating around a steady state, which is the disease-free equilibrium of the corresponding deterministic model. If R0 〉 1, there is a stationary distribution and the solution has the ergodic property, which means that the disease will prevail.展开更多

In Part I, the complex interactions among the components in the cooling system are analyzed in detail, based on which the modeling simplifications are proposed. Then, the mathematical models for the evaporator, cabinet and duct-fan are presented. The whole system is divided into two subsystems--refrigerant cycling system and air cycling system. In order to simplify the model, two closed-loop systems are broken into the compressor component and the evaporator component, respectively. A general distributed parameter model is employed for evaporator with homogeneous flow to simplify the two-phase evaporating flow region. The z-transfer function model is used to describe the cabinet load. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is employed to obtain the pressure drop and flow rate curve of the duct-fan model.展开更多
