In order to improve the hydriding and dehydriding kinetics of the Mg2Ni-type alloys,Ni in the alloy is substituted by element Co. The nanocrystalline and amorphous Mg2Ni-type Mg2Ni1-xCox (x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4) alloys w...In order to improve the hydriding and dehydriding kinetics of the Mg2Ni-type alloys,Ni in the alloy is substituted by element Co. The nanocrystalline and amorphous Mg2Ni-type Mg2Ni1-xCox (x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4) alloys were synthesized by melt-spinning technique. The structures of the as-cast and spun alloys were studied with an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and a high resolution transmission electronic microscope (HRTEM). An investigation on the thermal stability of the as-spun alloys was carried out with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics of the alloys were measured with an automatically controlled Sieverts apparatus. The results demonstrate that the substitution of Co for Ni does not alter the major phase of Mg2Ni but results in the formation of secondary phase MgCo2. No amorphous phase is detected in the as-spun Co-free alloy,but a certain amount of amorphous phase is clearly found in the as-spun Co-containing alloys. The substitution of Co for Ni exerts a slight influence on the hydriding kinetics of the as-spun alloy. However,it dramatically enhances the dehydriding kinetics of the as-cast and spun alloys. As Co content (x) increases from 0 to 0.4,the hydrogen desorption capacity increases from 0.19% to 1.39% (mass fraction) in 20 min for the as-cast alloy,and from 0.89% to 2.18% (mass fraction) for the as-spun alloy (30 m/s).展开更多

The method is based on the catalytic effect of manganese(Ⅱ) with the oxidation of weak acid brilliant blue dye(RAWL)...A new kinetic spectrophotometric method is developed for the measurement of manganese(Ⅱ) in water. The method is based on the catalytic effect of manganese(Ⅱ) with the oxidation of weak acid brilliant blue dye(RAWL) by KIO4 using the Nitrilo triacetic acid(NTA) as an activation reagent. The optimum conditions obtained are 40 mgL-1 RAWL,1×10-4molL-1 KIO4,2×10-4 molL-1 Nitrilo triacetic acid(NTA),pH = 5.8,the reaction time of 3.00 min and the temperature of 20.0 ℃. Under the optimum conditions,the proposed method allows the measurement of manganese(Ⅱ) in a range of 0-50.0 ng mL-1 and with a detection limit of down to 0.158 ng mL-1. The recovery efficiency in measuring the standard manganese(Ⅱ) solution is in a range of 98.5%-102%,and the RSD is in a range of 0.76%-1.25%. The new method has been successfully applied to the measurement of manganese(Ⅱ) in both fresh water and seawater samples with satisfying results. Moreover,few cations and anions interfere with the measurement of manganese(Ⅱ). Compared with other kinetic catalytic methods and instrumental methods,the proposed method shows fairly good selectivity and sensitivity,low cost,cheapness,low detection limit and rapidity. In post-Newtonian approximations, this equation gives the same results as those of Mathisson-Papapetrou equation. Effect of the deviation of geodesic trajectory is detectable.展开更多
Characterization of real-time and ultrafast motions of the complex molecules at surface and interface is critical to understand how interracial molecules function. It requires to develop surface-sensitive, fast-identi...Characterization of real-time and ultrafast motions of the complex molecules at surface and interface is critical to understand how interracial molecules function. It requires to develop surface-sensitive, fast-identification, and time-resolved techniques. In this study, we employ several key technical procedures and successfully develop a highly sensitive femtosecond time-resolved sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy (SFG-VS) system. This system is able to measure the spectra with two polarization combinations (ssp and ppp, or psp and ssp) simultaneously. It takes less than several seconds to collect one spectrum. To the best of our knowledge, it is the fastest speed of collecting SFG spectra reported by now. Using the time-resolved measurement, ultrafast vibrational dynamics of the N-H mode of α-helical peptide at water interface is determined. It is found that the membrane environment does not affect the N-H vibrational relaxation dynamics. It is expected that the time-resolved SFG system will play a vital role in the deep understanding of the dynamics and interaction of the complex molecules at surface and interface. Our method may also provide an important technical proposal for the people who plan to develop time-resolved SFG systems with simultaneous measurement of multiple polarization combinations.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of behind the head...Background: Using a cross-sectional design comparison, two overhead press techniques (in-front of the head or behind the head) were compared. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of behind the head or in-front of the head overhead pressing technique on shoulder range of movement (ROM) and spine posture. The overhead press is commonly prescribed exercise. The two techniques (in-front of the head or behind the head) may influence joint mechanics and therefore require an objective analysis. Methods: Passive shoulder ROM quantified using goniometric measures, dynamic ROM utilised three-dimensional (3D) biomechanical mea- sures (120 Hz) of 33 participants performing overhead pressing in a seated position. The timing and synchronisation of the upper limb shoulder and spine segments were quantified and influence of each technique was investigated. Results: The in-front technique commenced in lordotic position, whilst behind the head technique commenced in kyphotic position. Behind the head technique started with less thoracic extension than in-front condition. The thoracic spine remained extended and moved between 12~ and 15~ regardless of gender or technique. The techniques resulted in a significant difference between genders. Males were able to maintain a flat or normal lumbar lordosis, whereas females tended to kyphotic. Conclusion: Shoulder ROM was within passive ROM for all measures except external rotation for males with the behind the head technique. To avoid possible injury passive ROM should be increased prior to behind the head protocol. Females showed greater spine movements, suggesting trunk strengthening may assist overhead pressing techniques. For participants with normal trunk stability and ideal shoulder ROM, overhead pressing is a safe exercise (for the shoulder and spine) when performed either in-front of or behind the head.展开更多

Background and objective: Stroke volume variation(SVV) has high sensitivity and specificity in predicting fluid responsiveness. However, sinus rhythm(SR) and controlled mechanical ventilation(CV) are mandatory ...Background and objective: Stroke volume variation(SVV) has high sensitivity and specificity in predicting fluid responsiveness. However, sinus rhythm(SR) and controlled mechanical ventilation(CV) are mandatory for their application. Several studies suggest a limited applicability of SVV in intensive care unit(ICU) patients. We hypothesized that the applicability of SVV might be different over time and within certain subgroups of ICU patients. Therefore, we analysed the prevalence of SR and CV in ICU patients during the first 24 h of Pi CCO-monitoring(primary endpoint) and during the total ICU stay. We also investigated the applicability of SVV in the subgroups of patients with sepsis, cirrhosis, and acute pancreatitis. Methods: The prevalence of SR and CV was documented immediately before 1241 thermodilution measurements in 88 patients. Results: In all measurements, SVV was applicable in about 24%. However, the applicability of SVV was time-dependent: the prevalence of both SR and CV was higher during the first 24 h compared to measurements thereafter(36.1% vs. 21.9%; P0.001). Within different subgroups, the applicability during the first 24 h of monitoring ranged between 0% in acute pancreatitis, 25.5% in liver failure, and 48.9% in patients without pancreatitis, liver failure, pneumonia or sepsis. Conclusions: The applicability of SVV in a predominantly medical ICU is only about 25%–35%. The prevalence of both mandatory criteria decreases over time during the ICU stay. Furthermore, the applicability is particularly low in patients with acute pancreatitis and liver failure.展开更多
