The influences of superficial gas velocity, agitation or static mixers on gas hold-up, mixing time, liquid circulating velocity and volumetric mass transfer coefficient have been investigated with tap water and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) aqueous solution. The experimental results indicate that mechanical agitation is more efficacious than static mixer in highly viscous media for improving mass transfer in airlift reactors. The empirical correlation of volumetric mass transfer coefficient with apparent viscosity, and energy consumption for mechanical agitation and aeration is developed.展开更多

The influences of gas phase orifice F-factor and clear liquid height Hc on the amount of liquid lifted, Q, were examined. The corresponding correlation between Q with F-factor and equivalent diameter of perforated holes as well as Hc was obtained. Furthermore, the non-steady state mass transfer performance of JCPT was tested by the humidification of air with water. Finally, by the analysis of data and comparison, it was found that the JCPT tray with single cap and two holes exhibited the highest mass transfer efficiency and best performance.展开更多

The non-Newtonian flora of blood in small veins are examined mathematically by demonstrating the blood as Carreau fluid. The illustration for the blood flow is debated through an axially irregular but outward regular stenosis. Regularity in the dissemination of the fortification clipping stress and resistive impedance and their evolution with the emerging stenosis is a new significant feature of our investigation. Analytical solutions have been appraised for "velocity, tem- perature, concentration, resistance impedance, wall shear stress and shearing stress at the stenosis throat". The graphical consequences of different types of tapering arteries (i.e. "converging tapering, diverging tapering, non-tapered artery") have been studied for dissimilar constraints of attention. Rivulet shapes have been strategized for different parameters at the culmination of the article.展开更多
