Metals heat-treated under high pressure can exhibit different properties. The heat-induced pressure on 2024 aluminum alloy during restricting expansion-deformation heat-treatment was calculated by using the ABAQUS finite element software, and the effects of the mould material properties, such as coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), elastic modulus and yield strength, on the pressure were discussed. The simulated results show that the relatively uniform heat-induced pressure, approximately 503 MPa at 500 ℃, appears on 2024 alloy when 42CrMo steel is as the mould material. The heat-induced pressure increases with decreasing the CTE and the increases of elastic modulus and yield strength of the mould material. The influences of the CTE and elastic modulus on the heat-induced pressure are more notable. 展开更多

Catalytic converting CO2 into fuels with the help of solar energy is regarded as‘dream reaction’,as both energy crisis and environmental issue can be mitigated simultaneously.However,it is still suffering from low efficiency due to narrow solar-spectrum utilization and sluggish heterogeneous reaction kinetics.In this work,we demonstrate that catalytic reduction of CO2 can be achieved over Au nanoparticles(NPs)deposited rutile under full solar-spectrum irradiation,boosted by solar-heating effect.We found that UV and visible light can initiate the reaction,and the heat from IR light and local surface-plasmon resonance relaxation of Au NPs can boost the reaction kinetically.The apparent activation energy is determined experimentally and is used to explain the superior catalytic activity of Au/rutile to rutile in a kinetic way.We also find the photo-thermal synergy in the Au/rutile system.We envision that this work may facilitate understanding the kinetics of CO2 reduction and developing feasible catalytic systems with full solar spectrum utilization for practical artificial photosynthesis. 展开更多

For modeling, the Peng-Robinson equation of state was used and the Wong-Sandler mixing rules were incorporated into the equation of state parameters. In the Wong-Sandler mixing rules the van Laar model for the excess Gibbs energy was applied. In addition, a reasonable and flexible method is applied to test the thermodynamic consistency of pressure-temperature-concentration(P-T-x) data of these binary mixtures.Modeling is found acceptable in all cases, meaning that deviations in correlating the pressure and the gas phase concentration are low. For all cases the thermodynamic consistency method gives a clear conclusion about consistency or inconsistency of a set of experimental P-T-x data. 展开更多

In this paper, a new derivation process is introduced through the combination of the Second Law of Thermodynamics with the First Law of Thermodynamics. As a result, two new calculation equations for refrigeration coefficient are proposed. One equation is equivalent to the common method, but its form is a little complicated for real calculation. Another equation is the further simplification, and can be used to calculate the refrigeration coefficient instead of common method with a oermit error. 展开更多

Vapor-liquid equilibrium data of hexamethyl disiloxane+vinyl acetate system at 101.3kPa were measured by using double circulating vapor-liquid equilibrium still.The thermodynamic consistency of the VLE data was examined by Herrington method.Experimental data was correlated by non-random two-liquid(NRTL),Wilson and universal quasichemical(UNIQUAC)parameter models.All the models satisfactorily correlated with the VLE data.The result showed that the NRTL model was the most suitable one to represent experimental data satisfactorily.The system had a minimum temperature azeotrope at 345.71 K and the mole azeotropic composition was 0.0541. 展开更多

Many by-products are generated in the process of oxidizing cyclohexene to produce 1,2-epoxycyclohexane by hydrogen peroxide,including cyclohexanol,cyclohexanone,etc.To obtain high-purity 1,2-epoxycyclohexane, the by-products and unreacted cyclohexene must be removed through rectification,in which the vapor-liquid equilibrium(VLE)data of the system are needed.In this study,the VLE data of cyclohexene-cyclohexanol system were studied at 101.3 kPa using an improved EC-2 VLE still.The thermodynamic consistency of the data was examined by Herington's method.The results obtained were exemplary.The VLE data were correlated by the Wilson equation. The difference between the calculated values and the experimental data is minor,indicating that the VLE data are suitable for engineering design. 展开更多

The results show that this binary system does not have azeotropic point. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data are in thermodynamic consistency. The binary interaction parameters in the Wilson equation are presented with the correlation of vapor-liquid equilibrium data. The measurements of liquid phase composition and bubble point temperature are well represented by the Wilson equation. Values of vapor molecular fractions and activity coefficients from the Wilson equation are presented. This work provides important engineering data for the separation of 1,2-dichloroethane and 1,2-epoxycyclohexane . 展开更多

Many by-products are generated in the process of oxidizing cyclohexene to produce 1,2-epoxycyclohexane by hydrogen peroxide, including cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone, etc. To obtain high-purity 1,2-epoxycyclohexane, the by-products must be removed through rectification. Refining 1,2-epoxycyclohexane through rectification requires vapor-liquid equilibrium(VLE) data of the related system. Therefore, the VLE data of 1,2-epoxycyclohexane- cyc-lohexanone system were measured at 101.3 kPa using an improved EC-2 VLE still. The thermodynamic consistency of the data was then tested by Herington's method and the rigorous point-to-point method. The results obtained were exemplary. The VLE data were correlated by the Wilson and non-random two-liquid(NRTL) equations, using the error sum squares of the vapor composition as the objective function to obtain the model parameters. The difference between the calculated values and the experimental data is minor, indicating that the VLE data are suitable for engineering design. 展开更多

A mixed refrigerant ejector refrigeration cycle operating with two-stage vapor-liquid separators (MRERC2) is proposed to obtain refrigeration temperature at -40℃. The thermodynamic investigations on per- formance of MRERC2 using zeotropic mixture refrigerant R23/R134a are performed, and the comparisons of cycle performance between MRERC2 and MRERC1 CMRERC with one-stage vapor-liquid separator) are conducted. The results show that MRERC2 can achieve refrigeration temperature varying between -23.9℃ and -42.0℃ when ejector pressure ratio ranges from 1.6 to 2.3 at the generation temperature of 57.3-84.9℃. The parametric analysis indicates that increasing condensing temperature decreases coefficient of performance (COP) of MRERC2, and increasing ejector pressure ratio and mass fraction of the low boiling point component in the mixed refrigerant can improve COP of MRERC2. The MRERC2 shows its potential in utilizing low grade thermal energy as driving power to obtain low refrigeration temperature for the ejector refrigeration cycle. 展开更多

Experimental investigations were conducted to study the film cooling performance in a low speed annular cascades using Thermochromic Liquid Crystal (TLC) technique. The test blade was placed in the second stage, where 18 blades were installed with chord length of 124.3 mm and height of 99 mm. A film hole with diameter of 4 mm, angled 28° to the tangential of the pressure surface in streamwise, was set in the middle span of the blade. The Reynolds number based on the outlet mainstream velocity and the blade chord length of the second stage varied from 1.52×105 to 2.00×105. All measurements were made with the blowing ratio varying from 0.3 to 3.0. Air and CO2 worked as coolant to achieve the coolant-to-mainstream density ratio of 1.03 and 1.57. The results show that the film coverage and cooling effectiveness scale up with the blowing ratio. Higher density ratio can generate larger film cooling coverage and effectiveness. The higher the Reynolds number, the larger the film coverage and cooling effectiveness. 展开更多

The local approach to construct master equation for a composite open system with a weak internal coupling is simple and seems reasonable. However, it is thermodynamic consistent only when the subsystems are resonantly coupled. Efforts are being made to understand the inconsistency and test the validity of the local master equation. We present a perturbative method to solve the steady-state solutions of linear local master equations, which are demonstrated by two simple models. The solving process shows the stationary state as the result of competition between incoherent operations and the unitary creating quantum coherence, and consequently relate quantum coherence with thermodynamic consistency. 展开更多
