Together with the microphone, the AE sensor can detect the tool breakage more accurately and more effectively by applying the wavelet analysis. The processed tool breakage technique by AE sensor is used to perform the wavelet analysis on the experimental data. In this system the tool/workpiece interface temperature is measured by the tool/workpiece natural thermocouple, while the temperature distribution on the workpiece surface and that of interior are measured by some standard thermocouples prearranged at proper positions. The system can be used to measure cutting temperature in the machining with the rotary cutting tools, such as vertical drill and end milling cutter. It is practically used for the research on high-speed milling with hardened steel.展开更多

The frame is shaped in the p...To resolve the deformation problem for thin-walled aero-parts in the actual production, this paper simulates the effect of the tool-path on the machining accuracy of the thin-walled frame. The frame is shaped in the part milling under a given clamping condition by using the three-dimensional finite element method (FEM). Result shows that the sidewall deformation has a big difference if only the tool-path changes. When the tool-path from the outside to the inside is used, the machining deformation is smaller than another three kinds of toolpaths. Simulation results are compared with experimental data, and the correctness of the simulation is verified.Reasonable processing paths can be found by FEM.展开更多

The problem of the existing method is analyzed and a new method for generating the global smoothing tool orientation is proposed by introducing the key frame idea in the animation-making. According to the feature of the part, several key tool orientations are set without interference between the tool and the part. Then, these key tool orientations are inter- polated by the spline function. By mapping the surface parameter to the spline parameter, the spline function value is obtained and taken as the tool orientation when generating the CL file. The machining result shows that the proposed method realizes the global smoothing of the tool orientation and the continuity of the rotational speed and the rotational acceleration. It also avoids the shake of the machine tool and improves the machining quality.展开更多
Using a closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering system,the cemented carbide end mills were coated with a CrTiAlN hard coating,which consisted of a Cr adhesive layer,a CrN interlayer and a CrTiAlN top layer.The mi...Using a closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering system,the cemented carbide end mills were coated with a CrTiAlN hard coating,which consisted of a Cr adhesive layer,a CrN interlayer and a CrTiAlN top layer.The microstructure and mechanical properties of the coating were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),micro indentation and scratch test.The cutting performance of the coated end mills were conducted by high-speed dry milling hardened steel(P20,HRC 45).The results indicates that the coating is composed of(Cr,Ti,Al)N columnar grains with nanolayers.The coating exhibits good adhesion to cemented carbide substrate and high microhardness of around 30 GPa.The coated end mills show significant improvement on tool life and much lower cutting force as compared to the uncoated ones.And the related mechanisms were discussed.展开更多
