[Method] By using a randomized bIock design, with ‘Longyan 7-3’ as a controI, five purpIe sweet potato varieties were introduced in the autumn of 2012 for comparaton test to evaluate agronomic tralts, economic characters, nu-tritional quality, and processing quantity of dried sweet potato products and fried chips. [Result] ‘Weixiang No.1’ exhibited the highest yield of 41.9 t/hm2, which was improved by 25.8% compared with ‘Longyan 7-3’; fresh tuber yield of ‘Jishu No. 18’ reached 31.6 t/hm2, which was simiIar to that of ‘Longyan 7-3’; dried sweet potato products of ‘Jishu No.18’ and ‘Weixiang No.1’ not onIy had simiIar process stabiIity, taste and coIor to ‘Longyan 7-3’, but also exhibited exceI ent morphoIogy, coIor, transparency, taste and texture, which indicated that these two purpIe sweet potato varieties were suitabIe for processing dried sweet potato products; fried sweet potato chips of ‘Jishu No.18’ and ‘Weixiang No.1’ had moderate oiI content, high expansion degree and simiIar quality to ‘Longyan 7-3’, which indicated that these two purpIe sweet potato varieties were suitabIe for processing fried sweet potato chips; ‘Fushu No.9’, ‘Quanzi No.1’ and ‘Ninzi No.1’ exhibited beautifuI shape, high nutritional quality and good eating quality, which were suitabIe for fresh eating or processing sweet potato powder. [Conclusion] This study provided a scientific ba-sis for Iarge-scale popuIarization and appIication of new purpIe sweet potato vari-eties special y used for processing.展开更多

Crosses of these populations were carried out in EI-Gamalia hatchery, EI-Manzalah, Egypt, during spring of 2008 between MCF~~ QCF~. African catfish hybrid, MCF and QCF fingerlings with a mean weight of 24.02 + 1.38 g were stocked at a density of 50-fish per m3 in cages (112 m3 each) suspended in lake El-Manzalah. Fish were fed a formulated diet containing 31.20% crude protein and cultured for 214 days. The growth, survival and production data confirmed that catfish hybrid has been successful and showed a strong heterotic effect. Hybrid catfish had a significantly highest production, 47.5 kg per m3 and best feed conversion ratio (1.33) which demonstrates that cages are a viable alternative to ponds for the commercial production of African catfish and its hybrids. Recently, the African catfish market has required more processed products. The results indicated that: (1) there are slightly variations in African catfish population's products quality; and (2) the hot-smoked and fried-coated fish fillets products are more safe foods and acceptable to consumers due to their physic-chemical properties and microbial load acceptable results.展开更多

The most important input variables of the process system was represented by artificial immune cells, from which product quality was inferred, instead of directly using the prod- uct quality which was hard to measure online, e.g. the ash content of coal flotation con- centrate. In machining gears, hobbing is one of the most important processes, especially to produce various gear shapes for adapting to diverse applications. However, the demand for high quality brings attention to product quality, particularly the roughness of the machined gear surface because of its effect on product appearance, function, and reliability. For additional improvement, applying nanofluids may produce superior product quality, as the rolling action of billions of nanoparticle units in the tool chip interface can significantly decrease the friction led to reduce the cutting forces. In addition, the characteristics of heat transfer of nanoparticles can contribute to reduce tool wear. In this experimental study, the performance of nanolubricant compared with the case of using ordinary cutting-fluid systems in the existing production line is investigated. The experimental results reveal that the tool life of the hob is significantly enhanced of 55.2%, gear surface roughness is smaller (27.3%), and gear accuracy is significantly increased by using the nanofluid. This result, therefore, shows a promising solution to achieve the engineering-economy effectiveness in gear machining.展开更多
