It is still argued whether we measure phase or group velocities using acoustic logging tools. In this paper, three kinds of models are used to investigate this problem by theoretical analyses and numerical simulations. First, we use the plane-wave superposition model containing two plane waves with different velocities and able to change the values of phase velocity and group velocity. The numerical results show that whether phase velocity is higher or lower than group velocity, using the slowness-time coherence (STC) method we can only get phase velocities. Second, according to the results of the dispersion analysis and branch-cut integration, in a rigid boundary borehole model the results of dispersion curves and the waveforms of the first-order mode show that the velocities obtained by the STC method are phase velocities while group velocities obtained by arrival time picking. Finally, dipole logging in a slow formation model is investigated using dispersion analysis and real-axis integration. The results of dispersion curves and full wave trains show similar conclusions as the borehole model with rigid boundary conditions. 展开更多

By adopting cyclic increment loading and unloading method, time-independent and time-dependent strains can be separated. It is more reasonable to describe the reversible and the irreversible deformations of sample separately during creep process. A nonlinear elastic-visco-plastic rheological model is presented to characterize the time-based deformational behavior of hard rock. Specifically, a spring element is used to describe reversible instantaneous elastic deformation. A reversible nonlinear visco-elastic (RNVE) model is developed to characterize recoverable visco-elastic response. A combined model, which contains a fractional derivative dashpot in series with another Hook’s body, and a St. Venant body in parallel with them, is proposed to describe irreversible visco-plastic deformation. Furthermore, a three-stage damage equation based on strain energy is developed in the visco-plastic portion and then nonlinear elastic-visco-plastic rheological damage model is established to explain the trimodal creep response of hard rock. Finally, the proposed model is validated by a laboratory triaxial rheological experiment. Comparing with theoretical and experimental results, this rheological damage model characterizes well the reversible and irreversible deformations of the sample, especially the tertiary creep behavior. 展开更多

Randomly Weighted LAD-Estimation for Partially Linear Errors-in-Variables Models

The authors consider the partially linear model relating a response Y to predictors (x, T) with a mean function x^Tβ0 + g(T) when the x's are measured with an additive error. The estimators of parameter β0 are derived by using the nearest neighbor-generalized randomly weighted least absolute deviation (LAD for short) method. The resulting estimator of the unknown vector 30 is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. In addition, the results facilitate the construction of confidence regions and the hypothesis testing for the unknown parameters. Extensive simulations are reported, showing that the proposed method works well in practical settings. The proposed methods are also applied to a data set from the study of an AIDS clinical trial group. 展开更多

The damage evolution in steel reinforced high strength concrete(SRHSC) frame columns was studied based on the test results of cyclic reversed loading experiment of 12 frame column specimens with various axial compression rations,stirrups ratios,steel rations and loading histories.The variation law of the ultimate bearing capacity,ultimate deformation and ultimate hysteretic energy dissipation of specimens under different loading protocols was obtained.The seismic damage characteristics,as well as strength and stiffness degradation,of SRHSC frame columns were analyzed.Based on the analysis of the nonlinear double parameters combination of deformation and energy,a damage model that can well reflect the mechanical characteristics of members subjected to a horizontal earthquake action was established by considering the effects of the number of the loading cycles on the ultimate resistance capacity(ultimate deformation and ultimate energy dissipation capacity) of members,and the loading history on damage,etc.According to the test results,the related parameters of the damage model were proposed.Finally,the damage model proposed was validated by the test results.Results indicated that the proposed damage model is theoretically more reasonable and can accurately describe the seismic damage evolution of the SRHSC frame columns.The results also can be used as a new theoretic reference for the establishment of damage-based earthquake-resistant design method of SRHSC members. 展开更多

Weighted Profile Least Squares Estimation for a Panel Data Varying-Coefficient Partially Linear Model

This paper is concerned with inference of panel data varying-coefficient partially linear models with a one-way error structure. The model is a natural extension of the well-known panel data linear model (due to Baltagi 1995) to the setting of semiparametric regressions. The authors propose a weighted profile least squares estimator (WPLSE) and a weighted local polynomial estimator (WLPE) for the parametric and nonparametric components, respectively. It is shown that the WPLSE is asymptotically more efficient than the usual profile least squares estimator (PLSE), and that the WLPE is also asymptotically more efficient than the usual local polynomial estimator (LPE). The latter is an interesting result. According to Ruckstuhl, Welsh and Carroll (2000) and Lin and Carroll (2000), ignoring the correlation structure entirely and "pretending" that the data are really independent will result in more efficient estimators when estimating nonparametric regression with longitudinal or panel data. The result in this paper shows that this is not true when the design points of the nonparametric component have a closeness property within groups. The asymptotic properties of the proposed weighted estimators are derived. In addition, a block bootstrap test is proposed for the goodness of fit of models, which can accommodate the correlations within groups illustrate the finite sample performances of the Some simulation studies are conducted to proposed procedures. 展开更多
