The distributions of sodium laurate, sodium dodeeyl sulfate, and sodium dodeeyl benzene sulfonate on the surface of α-olefin drag reducing polymer particles were almost the same, but the bending degrees of them were obviously different. The bending degree of SLA molecules was greater than those of the other two surfactant molecules. Simulation results of absorbing and accumulating structure showed that, though hydrophobie properties of surfactant molecules were almost the same, water density around long chain sulfonate sodium was bigger than that around alkyl sulfate sodium. This property goes against useful absorbing and accumulating on the surface of α-olefin drag reducing polymer particles; simulation results of interactions of different surfactant and multiple hydroxyl compounds on surface of particles showed that, interactions of different surfaetant and one kind of multiple hydroxyl compound were similar to those of one kind of surfaetant and different multiple hydroxyl compounds. These two contrast types of interactions also exhibited the differences of absorbing distribution and closing degrees to surface of particles. The sequence of closing degrees was derived from simulation; control step of addition polymerization interaction in coating process was absorbing mass transfer process, so the more closed to surface of particle the multiple hydroxyl compounds were, the easier interactions With isoeyanate were. Simulation results represented the compatibility relationship between surfactant and multiple hydroxyl compounds. The isolating and coating processes of α-olefin drag reducing polymer were further understood on molecule and atom level through above simulation research, and based on the simulation, a referenced theoretical basis was provided for practical optimal selection and experimental preparation of α-olefin drag reducing polymer particles suspension isolation agent.展开更多

Data on the ablation of A950 LCP by excimer laser at 248 nm are presented. The experimental results show that the ablation depth is a linear function of the number of pulse at constant laser fluence, The ablation rate varies with the logorithm of the fluence in a linear manner at different fluences. A satisfactory linear relationship is found between ablation energy and incident fluence. Perhaps due to the plume absorption and thermal effect, the ablation rate varies complicatedly with pulse repetition frequency.展开更多

The beams are 1 700 mm long with a ...The test results of eight concrete beams reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets subjected to an aggressive environment under a sustained load are presented. The beams are 1 700 mm long with a rectangular cross-section of 120- mm width and 200-mm depth. The beams are precracked with a four-point flexural load, bonded CFRP sheets, and placed into wet-dry saline water( NaCl) either in an unstressed state or loaded to about 30% or 60% of the initial ultimate load. The individual and coupled effects of wet-dry saline water and sustained bending stresses on the long term behaviour of concrete beams reinforced with the CFRP are investigated. The test results show that the coupled action of wet-dry saline water and sustained bending stresses appears to significantly affect the load capacity and the failure mode of beam strengthened with CFRP, mainly due to the degradation of the bond between CFRP and concrete. However, the stiffness is not affected by the coupled action of wet-dry cycles and a sustained load.展开更多

At high...To design an accelerated method to evaluate thymopentin release from PLGA microspheres in vitro. Microspheres were prepared by double emulsion technique, using poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) as carrier. At higher medium temperature (45℃, 50℃ and 55℃), an accelerated release testing in short time was studied and correlated with the conventional release (37℃) in vitro. The release in vitro of thymopentin from PLGA microspheres at 45 ℃, 50℃ and 55℃ was significantly accelerated (P 〈 0.05). In particular, at 50℃, an accelerated release (30 h) of the hydrophilic peptide from the PLGA matrix was achieved and correlated well with the conventional release (30 d). An accelerated release testing in vitro at higher temperature could be used to monitor thymopentin release from PLGA microspheres.展开更多

Results indicated that factors for a successful multiplex PCR assay were related to the cycling touchdown annealing temperature, the balance of primer concentration at the various loci, the concentration of PCR buffer and the Taq DNA polymerase. Based on the optimization, a tailed primer strategy was outlined, and the effective ways were proposed to overcome the troubleshootings commonly encountered in the multiplex PCR and the multiplex gel electrophoresis.展开更多

The influence of diff...Based on the theory of concrete structure, a new expression was derived for lagged strain of fiber-reinforced polymer (FLIP) laminates in reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with FRP. The influence of different preloaded states and nonlinear stress-strain relationship of compressed concrete were both taken into account in this approach. Then a simplified expression was given by ignoring tensile resistance of concrete. Comparison of analytical predictions with experimental results indicates satisfactory accuracy of the procedures. The errors are less than 8% and 10% respectively when the tensile resistance of concrete is or not considered. While the maximum error of existing procedures is up to 60%.展开更多

After directly analyzing the commercially available water samples, 3 polymer additives (chimassorb 81, irgafos 168 and oleamide) were detected. It looks at the functions of a bridge, defining purpose of place and context, the spirit of creativity and the reasoned progression of an idea. It also explores the exploitation of materials technology and construction innovation and the tension between lightness and mass and between sculpture and scale. Present parameters of tempered and laminated glass create possibility of modern architecture of footbridges which are being full of transparency and light reflex effects. Four projects, using glass panels designed by Santiago Calatrava, have been presented in this paper. GFRP (glass fiber retrofit polymer) makes new horizon in material technology, helps to enrich new conception of structure with longer durability, low weight of deck and new creation of architecture line. The paper has described a few results of FEM (finite element method) analysis of footbridge with modular bridge GFRP deck system. The footbridge was excited by impact and human-induced vibrations. Composite material consists of glass fibers and polymer matrix is a promising alternative against traditional materials. New architecture and modern material engineering are looking for fresh possibilities of form and shape of structure, long durability and extraordinary technical parameters of building elements.展开更多
