Hook.) was graded to four different classes as SS, No. 1, No.2 and No.3, according to national lumber grades authority (NLGA) for structure light framing and structure joists and planks. The properties of apparent density was determined at 15% moisture content, bending strength and stiffness were tested according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D198-99, and dynamic modulus of elasticity (Eusw) was measured by ultrasonic technique, for predicting the flexural properties of different grade lumbers. The results showed that Eosw was larger than the static MOE. The relationship between Eusw and static MOE was significant at 0.01 level, and the determination coefficients (R2) of the four grade lumbers followed the sequence as R^2No.2 (0.616)〉 R^2ss (0.567)〉 R^2No1 (0.366)〉 R^2No.3 (0.137). The R^2 of Fusw and MOR were lower than that of the Etru and MOR for each grade. The Eusw of all the grade lumbers, except No.3-grade, had significant correlation with the static MOE and MOR, thus the bending strengthof those grade lumbers can be estimated by the E The Etru valuesof four grade lumbers followed a sequence as No.2-grade (10.701 GPa) 〉 SS-grade (10.359 GPa) 〉 No.l-grade (9.840 GPa) 〉 No.3-grade (9.554 GPa). For the same grade dimension lumber, its Eusw value was larger than static MOE. Mean values of MOR for four grade lumbers follow a sequence as No.2-grade (48.67 MPa) 〉 SS-grade (48.16 MPa) 〉 No.3-grade (46.55 MPa) 〉 No. 1-grade (43.39MPa).展开更多

Experimentally, the converging shock wave is generated by shock dynamics theory and the gas bubble is created by soap film technique. The post-shock flow field is captured by a schlieren photography combined with a high-speed video camera. Besides, a three-dimensional program is adopted to provide more details of flow field. After the strong converging shock wave impact, a wide and pronged outward jet, which differs from that in planar shock or weak converging shock condition, is derived from the downstream interface pole. This specific phenomenon is considered to be closely associated with shock intensity and shock curvature. Disturbed by the gas bubble, the converging shocks approaching the convergence center have polygonal shapes, and the relationship between shock intensity and shock radius verifies the applicability of polygonal converging shock theory. Subsequently, the motion of upstream point is discussed, and a modified nonlinear theory considering rarefaction wave and high amplitude effects is proposed. In addition, the effects of shock shape on interface morphology and interface scales are elucidated. These results indicate that the shape as well as shock strength plays an important role in interface evolution.展开更多

To study the effect of the wavelet bases, the standard PIV images were compressed by some known wavelet families, Daubechies, Coifman and Baylkin families with various compression ratios. It was found that a higher order wavelet base provided good compression performance for compressing PIV images. The error analysis of velocity field obtained indicated that the high compression ratio, even up to 64.1, can be realized without losing significant flow information in PIV processing. The wavelet compression technique of PIV was applied to the experimental images of jet flow and showed excellent performance. A reduced number of erroneous vectors can be realized by varying compression ratio. It can say that the wavelet image compression technique is very effective in PIV system.展开更多
