WISDAM has the capability of handling 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) in ship motions. Finite volume method with structured and overlapping grid system is employed. The flow variables are described in staggered manner, i.e., velocity components arc defined at the face center while pressure is at the cell center. Computational results agree favorably well with existing towing tank results especially for ship motions. Computational results also show that ship with bulbous bow experience higher hydrodynamic loads on bow section.展开更多

Although the two solutions have the same form of metric (spherically symmetric nonsingular black hole), their energy contents are different. We use another method given by Gibbons and Hawking to calculate the energy content of these solutions. We also obtained different value of energy. Study the requirements of a satisfactory energymomentum complex given by Moiler we find that the second solution, which behaves as 1/√r, is not transformed as a four-vector under Lorentz transformation.展开更多

Firstly, a MBDS (multi-body dynamic simulation) of the internal combustion engine has been carried out, at a defined operating condition, in order to determine the excitation force of the powertrain exciting the cylinder block. In this way, the dynamics of the engine powertrain have been described taking into account both the effects of the gas forces of the combustion process and the inertia forces of the moving parts. Afterwards, the cylinder block excitation forces have been used to evaluate the engine block vibrations and to predict the external noise radiated with both the well-known ATV (acoustic transfer vectors) and MATV (modal acoustic transfer vectors) methodologies at a distance of 1 m from the engine, according to the standard ISO 3744. The dynamics of the engine powertrain and its vibro-acoustic behaviour have been described using LMS (learning management system) Engineering Innovation Virtual.Lab tools.展开更多

This subject attracted the researcher's attention world wide in the last decades. Types of imperfections either geotechnical or structural are documented in literature and well explained. Nevertheless, the influence of these imperfections in pile load calculations is still ambiguous. The work presented herein is devoted to study soil disturbance during construction of piles using continuous flight auger, CFA. The study of soil disturbance due to drilling needs some evidence. The source of this evidence is field observations collected from four different construction sites, which are documented in this paper. The study concluded that the disturbed zone of soil by CFA has a conical shape and extending laterally to a distance equivalent to ten times of the pile diameter around the auger at the cutting bits and has an inclined surface of4:1 (vertical : horizontal). Furthermore excess pore water pressure was induced in soil in the vicinity of pile drilling. Due to this excess pore water pressure, 3.5% to 6.5% of piles constructed by CFA showed percolation of water from the top of the piles through fresh concrete. Also, subsidence of fresh concrete in pile hole was recorded in few of the constructed piles. Pile loading tests showed that the percolation of water and/or subsidence of fresh concrete have not appreciable influence on the load-displacement characteristics of the piles. Moreover, percolation of water at pile heads.展开更多

The ship motions are criteria for limiting the port operations, human safety and preventing the damage of port equipment and furniture. Therefore, this study discusses moored ship motions due to severe wind-wave during the tropical cyclone Linda which entered the Gulf of Thailand in November 1997. The ship motions are represented in the moored ship analysis at SRH (Sriracha Harbour Port) and BLCP (BLCP Coal-Fired Power Plant Port), and are subject to the static environmental load on the ship in accordance with Spanish Standard (ROM 0.2-1990) [1]. The environment in numerical model is derived from the wave model and hydrodynamics model using the application of Delft3D-WAVE and Delft3D-FLOW. The model location includes Ao Udom Bay and Rayong Sea. The model results represent the environment at Rayong Sea which is more severe than Ao Udom Bay. The ship motions at BLCP are mostly larger than SRH.展开更多

However, its therapeutic efficacy is affected by its lower bioavailability. In the present study, nanostructured lipid carriers(NLCs) were proposed as carrier of ART to improve pharmacokinetic properties of the drug. ART-NLC was prepared by high-pressure homogenization based on orthogonal design. The particle size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency(EE) and percentage of drug loading(DL) of ART-NLC were(53.06±2.11) nm,(–28.7±3.59) m V, 73.9%±0.5% and 11.23%±0.37%, respectively. ART-NLC showed the sustained release characteristics and scarcely the hemolysis effect on human red blood cells. The pharmacokinetics of ART-NLC for rats after tail intravenous injection(i.v) or intraperitoneal injection(i.p) were investigated by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy(LC-MS/MS). And ART solution was designed as control preparation. For rats of i.v groups, the AUC0–∞((707.45±145.65) ng·h/m L) of ART-NLC were significantly bigger than that of ART((368.98±139.58) ng·h/m L). The MRT((3.38±0.46) h) of ART-NLC was longer than that of ART((1.39±0.61) h). And similar results were observed for rats of i.p groups. The AUC0–∞((1233.06±235.57) ng·h/m L) and MRT((4.97±0.69) h) of ART-NLC were both bigger than those of ART, which were(871.17±234.03) ng·h/m L) and(1.75±0.31) h), respectively. Compared with ART, ART-NLC showed a significant increase in AUC0–∞(P〈0.05) and MRT(P〈0.001) for both i.p and tail i.v administrations.展开更多

The vehicle, composed of a surface float and a submerged glider in sea water, is regarded as a two-particle system. Kane's equations are used to establish the dynamic model. To verify the model, the design of a testing prototype is proposed and pool trials are conducted. The speeds of the vehicle under different sea conditions can be computed using the model, which is verified by pool trials. The optimal structure parameters useful for vehicle designs can also be obtained from the model. We illustrate how to build an analytical dynamics model for the wave glider, which is a crucial basis for the vehicle's motion control. The dynamics model also provides foundations for an off-line simulation of vehicle performance and the optimization of its mechanical designs.展开更多

In order to investigate the hydrodynamic effect of orientation dimples, a series of experiments was carried out on a ring-on-ring test. Multi-pored faces were tested with different dimple inclination angles and slender ratios. Film thickness and frictional torque were measured under different conditions of load and rotation speed. Experimental results showed that the orientation dimple could produce obvious dynamic effect by change of the flow direction and the increasing dimple orientation leads to increase of the load capability. The hydrodynamic effect strongly depends on dimple orientation parameters such as inclination angle and slender ratio. A larger load capability can be available by increasing dimple orientation and rotation speed. Experimental results agreed well with the theory that orientation micro-pores can significantly improve hydrodynamic performance of surfaces.展开更多
