The topography of gear meshing interfaces is one of the key factors affecting the dynamic characteristics of the gear transmission system. In order to obtain the contact characteristics of meshing gear pair with different surface micro-topographies,an interface feature model and a tribo-dynamics coupling model for the gear system are proposed in this paper. The effects of the gear tooth surface micro-topography on the oil film distribution, contact damping and friction are considered. The time-varying meshing stiffness and the static transmission error are included in the abovementioned models. An exemplary gear pair is analyzed using the proposed models to investigate the influence of the surface micro-topography on the dynamic characteristics of gear system under different micro-topographies and input torque conditions.Simulation results show that the effects of gear tooth micro-topography on the gear dynamic responses(including the friction and the vicious damping at the gear meshing interface and the vibration in the direction of offline of action)are highly dependent on the regularity of tooth surface. The vibration and noise can be significantly controlled by manufacturing a regular gear tooth profiles instead of random profiles. 展开更多

A nonlinear dynamics model and a mathematical expression were set up to investigatethe mechanism and conditions of vibration creep acceleration. The model showsthat hydraulic spring and nonlinear friction are major factors that can affect low-speed instability. The mathematic model was established to obtain the change rule of speed andinstantaneous acceleration of the hydraulic motor. Then, Matlab was used to simulate theeffect of nonlinear friction force and hydraulic motor parameters such as coefficient of leakand compression ratio, etc., under low speed. Finally, some measures were proposed toimprove the low-speed stability of the hydraulic motor. 展开更多

As a basic problem in many engineering applications, transition from laminar to turbulence still remains a difficult problem in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A numerical study of one transitional flow in two-dimensional is conducted by Reynolds averaged numerical simulation (RANS) in this paper. Turbulence model plays a significant role in the complex flows' simulation, and four advanced turbulence models are evaluated. Numerical solution of frictional resistance coefficient is compared with the measured one in the transitional zone, which indicates that Wilcox (2006) k-ω model with correction is the best candidate. Comparisons of numerical and analytical solutions for dimensionless velocity show that averaged streamwise dimensionless velocity profiles correct the shape rapidly in transitional region. Furthermore, turbulence quantities such as turbulence kinetic energy, eddy viscosity, and Reynolds stress are also studied, which are helpful to learn the transition's behavior. 展开更多

The dry friction force between two contacting surface layers is studied. The upper layer is arrangedon a two-dimensional square lattice and driven by an external driving force. The lower layer is approximated by atwo-dimensional periodic substrate potential. This model, usually called two-dimensional Frenkel-Kontorova model, isapplied to study the friction forces in this paper. The behaviors of different substrate potential strongly affect the staticfriction force. It is found that the system has strong anisotropic character. The possibility to obtain superlubricity issuggested. 展开更多

The thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication characteristics of a modified gear system under a dynamic load were investigated, including the influence of the modification coefficient and vibrations.Based on the dynamic theory of gear systems,a six-degree-of-freedom tribo-dynamics model was established.Thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication characteristics of a modified gear system under vibrations and a static load were analyzed. The results showed that the positive transmission gear system exhibited the better lubrication effect compared with other transmission types.A thick lubricating oil film could be formed, and the friction coefficient between the teeth and the oil film flash temperature were the smallest. As the modification coefficient increased, the lubrication condition was continuously improved, and the scuffing load capacity was enhanced. The increment of the modification coefficient increased the meshing stiffness of the gear system but reduced the stiffness of the oil film. 展开更多

Monte Carlo method was adopted to calculate the meshing error considering the manufacture error and assembly error of the meshing point along the time-varying contact line for helical gear pair. The flexural-torsion-axis dynamic model coupled was established under the tooth friction force and solved by the perturbation method to compute real dynamic tooth load. The change laws of the friction force and friction torque were obtained in a meshing period. The transmission error formulation was analyzed to introduce meshing excitations. The maximum dynamic transmission error, the maximum meshing force and the maximum dynamic factor were calculated under different speeds, external loads and damping factors. The conclusions can provide theoretical basis for the gear design especially in tooth profile correction. 展开更多

This paper describes the implementation of brake procedures with simulated inertia on a reduced scale brake dynamometer For this purpose, the theoretical foundations are first explained, and test measurements are carried out. The results show good agreement between calculated and measured accelerations during brake applications. Furthermore, braking processes with various driver models were carried out using associated normal force functions, and examined with regard to their coefficients of friction. A clear difference between these models can be observed. This introduces the possibility for new measurement methods for the analysis of NVH-behavior in brake systems. This work is the first step towards identifying a transfer function between full- and reduced-scale brake dynamometers. In a second step, the temperature scaling must be taken into account. Based on these results, it is possible to isolate the influences of the braking system components from those of the dynamics of the friction coefficient in the boundary layer. 展开更多

In this work, the prediction of wear for revolute joint with clearance in multibody systems is investigated using a computational methodology. The contact model in clearance joint is established using a new hybrid nonlinear contact force model and the friction effect is considered by using a modified Coulomb friction model. The dynamics model of multibody system with clearance is established using dynamic segmentation modeling method and the computational process for wear analysis of clearance joint in multibody systems is presented. The main computational process for wear analysis of clearance joint includes two steps, which are dynamics analysis and wear analysis. The dynamics simulation of multibody system with revolute clearance joint is carried out and the contact forces are drawn and used to calculate the wear amount of revolute clearance joint based on the Archard's wear model. Finally, a four-bar multibody mechanical system with revolute clearance joint is used as numerical example application to perform the simulation and show the dynamics responses and wear characteristics of multibody systems with revolute clearance joint. The main results of this work indicate that the contact between the joint elements is wider and more frequent in some specific regions and the wear phenomenon is not regular around the joint surface, which causes the clearance size increase non-regularly after clearance joint wear. This work presents an effective method to predict wear of revolute joint with clearance in multibody systems. 展开更多
