The model is divided into three boxes vertically according to the depths of thermocline and euphotic layer. It simulates well the oligotrophic shelf ecosystem of the YSCWM considering effects of nu- trients deposition and microbial loop. Main features of vertical structure of various variables in ecosystem of the YSCWM were captured and seasonal variability of the ecosystem was well reconstructed. Calculation shows that the contribution of microbial loop to the zooplankton can reach up to 60%. Besides, input of inorganic nutrients from atmospheric deposition is an important mechanism of production in upper layer of the YSCWM when stratified.展开更多

The results showed that photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), vapor pressure deficit (VPD), air temperature (T) and leaf area index (LAI) were primary factors regulating both water vapor and carbon dioxide fluxes. Three-layer back-propagation neural networks (BP) could be applied to model fluxes exchange between cropland surface and atmosphere without using detailed physiological information or specific parameters of the plant.展开更多

The second objective of the study was to evaluate the perceptions of the consumers regarding eco-label wines, with a direct focus on the attitudes of millennial generation. Two surveys, one directed to biodynamic producers in the United States and the other to a group of Californian wine consumers were distributed during spring and fall of 2010. Findings from the first survey reveal that biodynamic producers are engaged in biodynamic practices out of socially motivated reasons rather than economic factors. Results from the consumer survey suggest a generally uninformed generation of consumers about eco-label wines and particularly about the practices associated with these products. This lack of information heavily influences their behavioral decisions and attitudes and points out to the critical need for consumer education.展开更多

We have explored the dynamics of plankton ecosystem with multiple delays; one due to gestation period in the growth of phytoplankton population and second due to the delay in toxin liberated by TPP. It is established that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occurs at the interior equilibrium as the delay increases through its critical value. The direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Meanwhile, effect of toxin on the stability of delayed plankton system is also established numerically. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to support and supplement the analytical findings.展开更多
