The traditional range-based techniques and recent range-free localization schemes are not well competent for localization in mobile sensor networks, while the probabilistic approach of Bayesian filtering with particle-based density representations provides a comprehensive solution to such localization problem. Monte Carlo localization is a Bayesian filtering method that approximates the mobile node's location by a set of weighted particles. In this paper, an enhanced Monte Carlo localization algorithm-Extended Monte Carlo Localization (Ext-MCL) is proposed, i.e., the traditional Monte Carlo localization algorithm is improved and extended to make it suitable for the practical wireless network environment where the radio propagation model is irregular. Simulation results show the proposal gets better localization accuracy and higher localizable node number than previously proposed Monte Carlo localization schemes not only for ideal radio model, but also for irregular one.展开更多

The difference frequency generation (DFG) signals and sum frequency generation (SFG) signals are calculated. It is shown that, for the same model, the SFG signals are more sensitive than the DFG signals to the changes of the vibrational modes of the electronic two-level system. Because the SFG conversion efficiency can be improved by using the time-delay method, the findings in this paper predict that the SFG spectrum may probe the changes of the microstructure more effectively.展开更多

Besides NPY, orexigenic neuropeptides such as agouti-related protein (AgRP), and anorexi- genic neuropeptides such as α-melatonin stimulating hormone (MSH) and cocaine-amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) are also involved in central feeding regulation. During fasting, NPY and AgRP gene expressions are up-regulated and POMC and CART gene ex- pressions are down-regulated in hypothalamus. Based on the network of peptidergic neurons, the former are involved in positive feeding regulation, and the latter are involved in negative feeding, which exert these feeding-regulated peptides especially in paraventricular nucleus (PVN). To clarify the compensatory mecha- nism of knock-out of NPY system on feeding, change in gene expressions of appetite-related neuropeptides and the feeding behavior was studied in NPY Y5-KO mice. Food intake was increased in Y5-KO mice. Fasting increased the amounts of food and water intake in the KO mice more profoundly. These data indicated the compensatory phenomenon of feeding behavior in Y5-KO mice. RT-PCR and ISH suggested that the compensation of feeding is due to change in gene expressions of AgRP, CART and POMC in hypothalamus. Thus, these fi ndings indicated that the compensatory mechanism involves change in POMC/CART gene expression in arcuate nucleus (ARC). The POMC/CART gene expression is important for central compensatory regulation in feeding behavior.展开更多

The study involved 35 men from 19 to 21 years old with the left profile of the manual and aural asymmetries. EEG was recorded in the functional status of rest: during the aural perception and playback of mono- and polyphonic rhythmical patterns with the left and right hand fingers. The monophony in the rhythmical pattern sounding relative to monophonic patterns is followed by more expressed and widespread cortical processes of the EEG a-oscillation depression. Given patterns indicate a greater intensity of ascending nonspecific arousal strategies of data processing by men on conditions of the sound and harmonious complications of the pattern structure. The aural perception and playback of rhythmical patterns with both hands were accompanied by the increased significance of arousal processes in the right hemisphere. This may be due to the dominant role of the hemisphere during the formation of the innervation impacts on the left-hander's neuro-motor apparatus. More differentiated changes in the cerebral cortex were installed during the left hand activation.展开更多

The authors take into account multiple stage disease transmission and the latently infected cells(not yet producing virus) in our system. The authors consider nonnegativity, boundedness of solutions, and global asymptotic stability of the system. By constructing suitable Lyapunov functionals and using the Lyapunov-La Salle invariance principle, the authors prove the global stability of the infected(endemic) equilibrium and the diseasefree equilibrium for time delays. The authors have proven that if the basic reproduction number R_0 is less than unity, then the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, and if R_0 is greater than unity, then the infected equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. The results obtained show that the global dynamic behaviors of the model are completely determined by the basic reproduction number R_0 and that the time delay does not affect the global asymptotic properties of the model.展开更多
