Excessive vibrations inside buildings in the Lihu New Village caused by the Shenzhen Metro Line 2 underground railway were investigated by conducting analyses of the tunnel,the track irregularities,the stiffness of the fastening system,and the vibrations of the track system and the building at different speeds.A numerical simulation based on the dynamic coupling theory of the vehicle-track system was used to verify the experimental results.Suitable countermeasures were investigated.The results show that rail corrugation is the primary reason for the excessive vibration,and an increase in the stiffness of the vertical fastening system is the secondary reason.The solution was to eliminate the rail corrugation using rail grinding and decrease the vertical stiffness by changing the fastening system.The results of this study provide references for solving vibration problems caused by rail lines. 展开更多

To determine their vibration characteristics, this paper applied a mobility power flow method. Firstly, the L-shaped plate was divided into two substructures to simplify analysis. The coupled bending moment was then deduced by applying a continuous vibration property on the common edge. Next, the response on any point of the plate and the input and transmitted power flow formulas were calculated. Numerical simulations showed the distribution of the coupled bending moment and the response of the whole structure. The validity of this method was verified by the SEA approach. 展开更多

Differences in the calculated results of inner forces and displacements using the two damping models were observed. The earth allocation is a dynamic system affected by various time-space constraints. Based on previous studies, a new method of optimizing this dynamic system as a static one is presented. In order to build a generalized and flexible model of the problem, some man-made constraints were investigated in building the mathematic model. Linear programming and simplex method are introduced to solve the optimization problem of earth allocation. A case study in a large-scale rock-fill dam construction project is presented to demonstrate the proposed method and its successful application shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

Amphioctopus fangsiao is one of the most economically important species and has been considered to be a candidate for aquaculture. In order to facilitate its fine-scale genetic analyses, we constructed a normalized full-length library successfully and developed a set of microsatellite markers in this study. The normalized full-length library had a storage capacity of 6.9×105 independent clones. The recombination efficiency was 95% and the average size of inserted fragments was longer than 1000 bp. A total of 3440 high quality ESTs were obtained, which were assembled into 1803 unigenes. Of these unigenes, 450(25%) were assigned into 33 Gene Ontology terms, 576(31.9%) into 153 Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways, and 275(15.3%) into 22 Clusters of Orthologous Groups. Seventy-six polymorphic microsatellite markers were identified. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 17, and the observed and expected heterozygosities varied between 0.167 and 0.967 and between 0.326 and 0.944, respectively. Twelve loci were significantly deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium after Bonferroni correction and no linkage disequilibrium was found between different loci. This study provided not only a useful resource for the isolation of the functional genes, but also a set of informative microsatellites for the assessment of population structure and conservation genetics of A. fangsiao. 展开更多

Based on polarization mechanisms, such as electronic, ionic and orientational polarizations, a new equation for dielectric permittivity of soil is proposed to interpret the dielectric behavior of a mixture like soil, in terms of polarization process of its components and the interactions between its components. The dielectric permittivity is expressed in terms of a fre-quency-dependent part and a frequency-independent part. These two parts correspond to polarizations occurred at different fre-quency range. It is a new volumetric mixing model with theoretical background. Based on time domain reflectometry (TDR) measurements of saturated soil samples and test data from literature, comparisons of this model with some well established mixing models show that the curves for saturated sand soils and slurries resulted from the new equation, which agree well with TDR measurements, are close to those calculated from Birchak's model. 展开更多

In order to give the reasonable width of seismic gaps to prevent the structural pounding during ground motions,the maximum relative displacement of adjacent structures is studied in this paper.The factors that may have effects on the maximum relative displacement are discussed.As for multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF) systems,they can be equivalent to single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF) systems with the influences of high modes neglected.The results show that the period ratio,height ratio and peak ground acceleration are the main factors that have great effects on the maximum relative displacement of adjacent structures.The maximum relative displacement of MDOF systems can be obtained from calculating the maximum relative displacement of the equivalent SDOF systems. 展开更多

Automatic extraction features and buildings in particular from digital images is one of the most complex and challenging task faced by computer vision and photogrammetric communities. Extracted buildings are required for varieties of applications including urban planning, creation of GIS databases and development of urban city models for taxation. For decades, extraction of features has been done by photogrammetric methods using stereo plotters and digital work stations. Photogrammetric methods are tedious, manually operated and require well-trained personnel. In recent years, there has been emergence of high-resolution space borne images, which have disclosed a large number of new opportunities for medium and large-scale topographic mapping. In this paper, a semi-automatic method is introduced to extract buildings in planned and informal settlements in urban areas from high resolution imagery. The proposed method uses modified snakes model and radial casting algorithm to initialize snakes contours and refinement of building outlines. The extraction rate is 91 percent as demonstrated by examples over selected test areas. The potential, limitations and future work is discussed. 展开更多
