Under the three types of conditions, the main parameters of an L-type podded propulsor were measured, including the propeller thrust and torque, as well as the thrust, side force, and moment of the whole pod unit.In addition, the flow field on the section between the propeller and the strut was analyzed. Experimental results demonstrate that the dynamic azimuthing rate and direction and the turning direction affect the forces on the propeller and the whole pod unit. Forces are asymmetrically distributed between the left and right azimuthing directions because of the effect of propeller rotation. The findings of this study provide a foundation for further research on L-type podded propulsors.展开更多

The linear spring layer model is introduced to simulate the interface imperfection. Based on the effective medium theory, the viscoelastic micromechanical model is developed by two equivalence processes. The present prediction is compared with available experimental data to verify the developed framework. It is found that the proposed model has the capability to predict the dynamic modulus of AC. Interface effect on the dynamic modulus of AC is discussed using the developed model. It is shown that the interfacial bonding strength has a significant influence on the global mechanical performance of AC, and that continued improvement in surface fimctionalization is necessary to realize the full potential of aggregates reinforcement.展开更多

This paper presents theoretical expressions that can be used to determine the aerodynamic performance of wind microturbines. A commercially-available three-bladed microturbine was tested at the outlet plane of a wind tunnel. The cross-section dimensions of the wind tunnel jet are 2.5 m (horizontal) x 1.5 m (vertical). The tested microturbine has a diameter of 1.2 m, and it generates a maximum power output of about 300 W. The paper provides the wind tunnel test methodology that was used to determine the mean and fluctuating forces generated by the aforementioned wind microturbine. Both the static and dynamic responses of the turbine were measured, and results from this testing are presented in this paper. These results enable the trends and predictions of the theoretical expressions to be compared with wind tunnel measurements. It is shown that, for this particular microturbine, the behaviours of these test measurements are consistent with the expected theoretical predictions.展开更多

The cyclic voltammetric results indicate that rusticyanin immobilized on the surface of Rus.-ZnS-QDs/L-Cys/Au electrode can undergo a direct quasi-reversible electrochemical reaction. The immobilized rusticyanin is not denatured and still retains its activity in the temperature range of 19-43 ℃. The reduction ability of the protein increases and its oxidation ability becomes weak with the increase of pH from 6.0 to 7.8. Fe^2+ ions in the solution can promote the electron transfer kinetics of the immobilized rusticyanin and make its peak potentials (φp) markedly move negatively.展开更多

Increasingly undesirable performance is caused by increasing levels of strong ground motion having decreasing annual probabilities of exceedance. The development of this methodology includes three steps: (1) evaluation of the distribution of ground motion at a site; (2) evaluation of the distribution of system response; (3) evaluation of the probability of exceeding decision variables within a given time period, given appropriate damage measures. The work has taken a systematic approach to determine the impact of increasing levels of detail in site characterization on the accuracy of ground motion and site effects predictions. Complementary studies have investigated the use of the following models for evaluating site effects: (1) amplification factors defined on the basis of generalized site categories, (2) one-dimensional ground response analysis, and (3) two-dimensional ground response analysis for surface topography on ground motion. The paper provides a brief synthesis of ground motion and site effects analysis procedures within a Performance-Based Design framework.
