The 3104 aluminum alloy processed by the cryogenic treatment followed by homogenization exhibited an enhancement in the tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation by 29%, 41%, and 11%, respectively, as compared with a sample processed by the conventional homogenization treatment. The stress-strain curve of the sample processed by the homogenization treatment exhibited the Portevin-Le Chatelier effect, whereas the sample processed by the cryogenic treatment did not. Further, the cryogenic treatment could accelerate the precipitation of secondary phase particles for the sample processed by a deep cryogenic treatment, followed by a homogenization treatment, which enhanced the dislocation pinning effect of the solvent atoms and thus improved the critical strain.展开更多

The results show that the eutectic phase of the homogenized TRC alloy becomes fine as the microstructure of the as-cast TRC alloy is refined. The short rodlike eutectic phase of the as-cast TRC alloy is dispersed homogeneously, which is similar to the morphology of eutectic phase of the homogenized DC alloy. After homogenization, elements Fe and Mn in DC and TRC alloys are diffused from eutectic phase to A1 matrix, resulting in the decrease of microhardness. The formability of the as-cast TRC alloy is superior to that of the homogenized DC alloy. For TRC A8006 alloy, the homogenizing cycle can be removed from the subsequent processing.展开更多

Each amount of Tb and Dy production derived from the BP has been about 30-40 times larger than those created in FP (fission products). Required cooling time to achieve exemption level on radioactivity concentration produced Tb and Dy derived from the BP are much shorter (BP-Tb: 7.9y, BP-Dy: 〈 0.1y) than those created in FP (FP-Tb: 3,616y, FP-Dy: 6.9y). However, the BP is mixed homogeneously with UO2 pellet in current nuclear fuel system of LWRs (light water reactors), and hence mixing of FP cannot be not avoided. In such a mixture case, the required cooling time of recovered Tb will become 2,653y and that of recovered Dy be 4.8y. For this reason, recovered Tb is unlikely to be resource for utilization, while recovered Dy must be the resource provided the precise separation from the other FP.展开更多

Generally, the spur bevel gear in the cold orbital forging process is formed by two steps: the preforming step and the final step. Due to the great importance of the final step to gear forming and its complication with interactive factors, this work aims at examining the influence of key factors on the final step in cold orbital forging of a spur bevel gear. Using the finite element(FE) method and control variate method, the influence rules of four key factors, rotation velocity of the upper tool, n, feeding velocity of the lower tool, v, tilted angle of the upper tool, γ, friction factor between the tools and the billet, m, on the geometry and the deformation inhomogeneity of the cold orbital forged gear are thoroughly clarified. The research results show that the flash becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, increasing m, decreasing n or decreasing γ. And the deformation of the gear becomes more homogeneous with increasing v, decreasing n or decreasing γ. Finally, a corresponding experiment is conducted, which verifies the accuracy of FE simulation conclusions.展开更多

The effects of chemistry on the flowing steam nucleation and condensation are not quite explained. An approach is used in the paper which is based on binary nucleation of main impurity NaC1 and water. Physical and mathematical models are described and are applied on the steam flow with condensation in convergent-divergent nozzle. Binary nucleation numerical model is applied for the calculation of the flow with condensation in the nozzle with low expansion rate in divergent nozzle part ^- = 1,000 s^-1. Calculation results of pressure distribution are compared with experiments. The agreement between calculations and experiments is very good. The homogeneous nucleation and condensation of pure water steam in the same nozzle is also calculated. The results are discussed. Main features of the binary nucleation and condensation of water and NaCI and of the homogeneous nucleation of pure water are compared.展开更多

The problems of flow dead area and mass flow rate non-uniform distribution caused by the local structure effect the cooling effectiveness in the channel seriously. Numerical simulation to the flow field of scramjet cold panel with four different fuel injection island structures respectively has been carried out using the CFD commercial software-CFX in this research. The results reveal that flow dead area has been eliminated and flow field has been improved for the optimized structure. Furthermore, local resistance loss has been decreased and the mass flow rate non-uniform distribution in the channel has been reduced. Based on the optimized results, some suggestions about the local design of cooling panel have been proposed in this research.展开更多
