The effectiveness of the decoupling approach is tested and verified by the STK.The simulation results obtained by the STK are more meaningful than those obtained by Matlab.展开更多

The results show that by increasing the flow passage length, the velocity of metal at the cross-section of sheath tends toward uniformity, the values of the bending angles of sheath gradually approach the ideal value of zero and the cross-section exhibits a better shape. The extrusion wheel velocity has negligible effects on the bending shape and cross-section of the sheath product when a long flow passage is used.展开更多

An abundance of scenarios literature exists in which numerous pictures ha...A description of the future as it might be without forecasts, predictions and trend analysis can be referred to as a 'future scenario'. An abundance of scenarios literature exists in which numerous pictures have been painted of changed future worlds. However, upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that virtually all of this literature refers to changes occurring above ground, ignoring the inevitable consequences (or opportunities) for sustainable use of underground space, not least in densely populated urban areas, some of which may be underlain by complex geological conditions. This paper reports on the development (to date) of an 'Urban Futures' (UF) toolkit for sub-surface environments (including infrastructure and utilities) which, through use of 'key' questions 'sustainable' indicators and a 'contextual' narrative, allows for better definition and measured performance of underground space in the UK, both today and in the future. The toolkit explores possible uses for underground space within 4 plausible and well-cited future scenarios (i.e. New Sustainability Paradigm, Fortress World, Market Forces and Policy Reform). This forms part of a much larger generic toolkit which the UF research team are developing for exploring possible future scenarios over a range of UK urban regeneration case study areas.展开更多
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and have gained considerable research and treatment interest,especially in the last two decades. GISTs are dr...Gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and have gained considerable research and treatment interest,especially in the last two decades. GISTs are driven by mutations commonly found in the KIT gene and less commonly in the platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha gene,BRAF gene and succinate dehydrogenase gene. GISTs behave in a spectrum of malignant potential,and both the tumor size and mitotic index are the most commonly used prognostic criteria. Whilst surgical resection can offer the best cure,targeted therapy in the form of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) has revolutionized the management options. As the first-line TKI,imatinib offers treatment for advanced and metastatic GISTs,adjuvant therapy in high-risk GISTs and as a neoadjuvant agent to downsize large tumors prior to resection. The emergence of drug resistance has altered some treatment options,including prolonging the first-line TKI from 1 to 3 years,increasing the dose of TKI or switching to second-line TKI. Other newer TKIs,such as sunitinib and regorafenib,may offer some treatment options for imatinib-resistant GISTs. New molecular targeted therapies are being evaluated,such as inhibitors of BRAF,heat shock protein 90,glutamine and mitogenactivated protein kinase signaling,as well as inhibitors of apoptosis proteins antagonist and even immunotherapy. This editorial review summarizes the recent research trials and potential treatment targets that may influence our future patient-specific management of GISTs. The current guidelines in GIST management from Europe,North America and Asia are highlighted.展开更多

Due to the particular mode of inheritance, X-chromosomal X-S...The usefulness of the X-chromosomal STRs (short tandem repeats) for forensic purposes seems to be restricted, but may be valuable in some paternity cases. Due to the particular mode of inheritance, X-chromosomal X-STR has the advantage in female traces identification against male contamination and in complex kinship cases, such as deficiency cases (mother-son or father-daughter), grandparent-grandchild comparisons, half-sisters testing, etc. In this study, 4 blood samples from two paternity cases without father were examined with TYPER19 Amplification kit first, from the result, it is hard to judge the relationship between the mother-sons, then TYPERX19 kit was conducted to obtain the full profiles of the two pairs of the mother-son, from the genetypes of the samples, it can be inferred that neither of the two pairs of mother-son were in line with the kinship, which provides important evidence for the two paternity cases. All together, the X-chromosome marks included in the TYPERX19 kit can offer the possibility to solve complex kinship cases where autosomal STR markers cannot provide the information needed.展开更多

The multiple dimensions and scales of socioeconomic dynamics pose numerous challenges for the application and evaluatio...Comparative space-time thinking lies at the heart of spatiotemporally integrated social sciences. The multiple dimensions and scales of socioeconomic dynamics pose numerous challenges for the application and evaluation of public policies in the comparative context. At the same time, social scientists have been slow to adopt and implement new spatiotemporally explicit methods of data analysis due to the lack of extensible software packages, which becomes a major impediment to the promotion of spatiotemporal thinking. The proposed framework will address this need by developing a set of research questions based on space-time-distributional features of socioeconomic datasets. The authors aim to develop, evaluate, and implement this framework in an open source toolkit to comprehensively quantify the changes and level of hidden variation of space-time datasets across scales and dimensions. Free access to the source code allows a broader community to incorporate additional advances in perspectives and methods, thus facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration. Being written in Python, it is entirely cross-platform, lowering transmission costs in research and education.展开更多
This work collects the characteristics of the family kits of students from the careers related to health in the Espoch, by identifying their knowledge and habits to determine the relationship between self-medication a...This work collects the characteristics of the family kits of students from the careers related to health in the Espoch, by identifying their knowledge and habits to determine the relationship between self-medication and the possession of medicines contained in the first-aid kit. This is related to the most outstanding frequency (48.1% bedroom) with the use of medicines in the home (48.5% when the treatment ends). Taking into account that 63.6% do not have a kit, they stored them in inadequate places to control their stability and quality for the use they were made, being analgesics and antibiotics those commonly found during the inspection that took place in the home. This determines that storage habits are not adequate for the proper storage of medications, including having knowledge of health and the importance of proper use by students, being essential to know that medicines must be stored in fresh places and dry, to avoid damage and problems associated with its stability.展开更多

A virtual representation of the user...This study proposes a real time 3D virtual model controll and a virtual dressing room application to enable users to try virtual garments and shoes on in front of a virtual mirror. A virtual representation of the user appears in a virtual changing room and the user's hand motions select the clothes from a list on the screen. Afterwards, the selected virtual clothes appear on a humanoid model in the virtual mirror. For the purpose of aligning the 3D garments and shoes with the model, 3D locations of the joints are used for positioning, scaling and rotating. By using our developed algorithm, small, medium, large or xlarge garment size is selected automatically and this information is shown on the screen. Then, we apply skin color detection to handle the unwanted occlusions between the user and the model. To create a more realistic effect, the system takes into account different images of the clothes according to different human poses and movements. Optional mirror selection buttons make it possible to have multiple viewing angles on the model. Additionally, we developed an algorithm for matching up all motions between the model and garments. In this study, we benefit from the Microsoft Kinect SDK (software development kit) in order to follow the user's movements, coordinate the suitable clothe try-ons and provide depth sort effect to the human body and clothes. In order to use the rapid calculation attributes of game engines, we used unity 3D game engine.展开更多

Most of the households in Sri Lanka are now headed exclusively by wom...As a result of 30 years of an internal armed conflict, women and children not only lost male relatives in struggle, but comprised of the displaced. Most of the households in Sri Lanka are now headed exclusively by women. The micro finance institutions help the poor people in effective ways in order to generate income to enhance their standard of living in the rural areas. This study focuses on women entrepreneurship development through micro credit programme under post war development in Jaffna District selecting four rural areas which are Kopay, Chavakachcheri, Varani and Kodikamam. The main objective of this study is to identify the linkage with micro credit programmes and entrepreneurship development. Further it has an objective to identify the impact of micro credit on entrepreneurship development. The information has been gathered by primary data which has been distributed through the close ended questionnaire to the rural women in the above selected areas and seventy seven (77) responded out of 100. The relation between the micro credit programmes and women entrepreneurship development is examined using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). It is concluded that the Entrepreneurship development has a significant relationship (p〈0.05) with the microcredit programme and its impact on entrepreneurship development is crucial. It is suggested that the microcredit facilities are essential in women entrepreneurship development under post war development.展开更多
Crystal packing has strong influence on the charge mobility for organic semiconductors, so the elucidation of the structure-property relationship is important for the design of high-performance organic semiconductors....Crystal packing has strong influence on the charge mobility for organic semiconductors, so the elucidation of the structure-property relationship is important for the design of high-performance organic semiconductors. Halogen substitution has been shown to be a promising strategy to alter the crystal structure without significantly changing the molecular size in previous reports. This paper studies the influence of halogenation on charge transport in single crystals of chrysene derivatives from a theoretical standpoint. The structure-property relationship is first rationalized by investigating the reorganization energy and electronic coupling from the density functional theory calculations. Based on the Marcus charge transfer theory, the mobilities in the molecular monolayer are then calculated with the random walk simulation technique from which the angular resolution anisotropic mobilities are obtained on the fly. It is shown that the mobilities become much larger for holes than those for electrons in the molecular monolayer when the halogenation occurs. Furthermore, the intra-layer charge transport is little influenced by the inter-layer pathways in the single crystals of the halogenated chrysene derivatives, while the opposite case is shown for the crystal of the nonhalogenated chrysene derivative. The reason for the variations of charge transport is discussed theoretically.展开更多

The analysis of the uncertainty and reliability of traffic sys...Randomness plays a major role in the interpretation of many interesting traffic flow phenomena,such as hysteresis,capacity drop and spontaneous breakdown. The analysis of the uncertainty and reliability of traffic systems is directly associated with their random characteristics. Therefore,it is beneficial to understand the distributional properties of traffic variables. This paper focuses on the dependence relation between traffic flow density and traffic speed,which constitute the fundamental diagram (FD). The traditional model of the FD is obtained essentially through curve fitting. We use the copula function as the basic toolkit and provide a novel approach for identifying the distributional patterns associated with the FD. In particular,we construct a rule-of-thumb nonparametric copula function,which in general avoids the mis-specification risk of parametric approaches and is more efficient in practice. By applying our construction to loop detector data on a freeway,we identify the dependence patterns existing in traffic data. We find that similar modes exist among traffic states of low,moderate or high traffic densities. Our findings also suggest that highway traffic speed and traffic flow density as a bivariate distribution is skewed and highly heterogeneous.展开更多
