All the...Secondary xylem characteristics and horizontal variations were described in three xerophytic species, Zygophyllum xanthoxylon, Nitraria tangutorum, Tetraena mongolica of Zygophyllaceae native to western China. All the species have obvious growth ring boundaries except sometimes discontinuous in T. mongolica and Z xanthoxylum ring to semi-ring-porosity; simple perforation plate; alternate intervessel pitting; non-septate fibres; paratracheal confluent axial parenchyrna; helical thickenings and heterocellular rays. However the vessel arrangement and quantitative features of vessels were different. Vessel elements tend to be shorter and narrower and more frequent in T. mongolica than in other two species that are hardly different could lead to greater conductive safety. The variation of vessel element length and fibre length along radial direction showed irregular tendency. There was significant difference in both fibre length and vessel element length among-tree and within-tree. Furthermore, the relationships between anatomical features and adaptability to desert environments were also discussed.展开更多

To promote the visualisation and informatisation of the construction process of precast foamed lightweight concrete wallboards(PFLCWs),from the analysis of the construction requirements of PFLCWs,three key constructio...To promote the visualisation and informatisation of the construction process of precast foamed lightweight concrete wallboards(PFLCWs),from the analysis of the construction requirements of PFLCWs,three key construction technologies based on building information modelling(BIM),namely,parameterised modelling for the PFLCW layout design,drawing generation to draw the PFLCW layout and quantity statistics for extracting PFLCW quantities,are proposed.Then,a reinforced concrete(RC)frame infilled with PFLCW is considered the test model to verify the feasibility of the aforementioned technologies.The results show that PFLCW layout design can be accomplished rapidly and visually using parameterised modelling technology.The PFLCW layout diagram can be generated directly using drawing generation technology.The proposed quantity statistics technology enables the automatic export of PFLCW bills of quantities.The built parameterised model helps construction workers rapidly and intuitively understand the specific layout details of PFLCWs.Moreover,the generated layout drawing and the bills of quantities based on the parameterised model can guide the production and on-site installation of PFLCWs.The research conclusions can serve as a practical guide and technical support for PFLCW engineering applications.展开更多

The concept of a ＂System of Systems＂ （SOS） describes a large system of mul- tiple systems --each capable of independent operation --that have been brought together to provide capabilities beyond those of each indi...The concept of a ＂System of Systems＂ （SOS） describes a large system of mul- tiple systems --each capable of independent operation --that have been brought together to provide capabilities beyond those of each individual constituent system. Formulating and solving SoS design problem has become increasingly important, particularly in the aerospace and defense industries, as customers have begun to ask contractors＇ for broad capabilities and solutions rather than for specific individual systems. SoS design problem is determining the appropriate mix of both existing and yet-to-be-designed systems. This paper first defines what constitute a SoS. Next, it summarizes the current state-of-practice of System Engineering, and establishes what needs to be accomplished to perform SoS Engineering. Finally, it describes a multilevel, multistage approach to system of systems design optimization where system design is linked with system allocation along multistage decision making horizon, together with hierarchical mapping from technology space to system response in each system design stage.展开更多
