This study was implemented between May and July of 2011 to understand the local community perception of new residents living in five rural areas, and one city of Penghu, and to understand the community perceptions of these new residents. This includes: the new residents' feelings about the community, the new residents' feelings about interaction with the locals, multicultural acceptance of the community, and the new residents' feelings about participation in local activities. According to the parameters of this research, quantitative research methodology was adopted. After questionnaire studies and data analysis, the key findings are thus: New residents living areas have significant impact on the community perceptions of them, especially in two areas: the new resident's feeling relating to the community environment and their perception of interaction with the locals.展开更多
Based on the waveform data observed by the regional seismic network of Gansu Province,we calculated the apparent stress of 422 earthquakes with M_L≥ 2. 0 occurring in the surrounding area of the Minxian earthquake fr...Based on the waveform data observed by the regional seismic network of Gansu Province,we calculated the apparent stress of 422 earthquakes with M_L≥ 2. 0 occurring in the surrounding area of the Minxian earthquake from January 2010 to July 2014 and obtained the temporal and spatial variation of apparent stress before and after the Minxian earthquake. Results show that( 1) the high value of apparent stress of earthquakes with M_L≥4. 0 was concentrated in the epicenter area before the Minxian earthquake while that of earthquakes with M_L< 4. 0 was not;( 2) Apparent stress around the epicenter area showed an obvious increasing process before the Minxian earthquake and the increasing process has continued after the main shock,which means that this study area is still in the danger of strong earthquakes.展开更多

The disaster level of this event is the slightest on t...An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Wen'an county,Hebei Province on July 4,2006. No casualties have been reported,with only slight damage. The disaster level of this event is the slightest on the M4.9~5.1 events record tally since the CCDSN (China Center of Digital Seismic Network) was built in 1999. The epicenter intensity of this earthquake was low,while in areas like Beijing,which is 100km far away,abnormal high intensity zones appeared. This article discusses the reasons behind this abnormal phenomenon,with the diagrams of intensity isolines drawn by the intense seismic stations and networks in the capital circle area as references,as well as the seismogenic mechanism in the source,the seismic histories,the geological structures and the ray pathways of seismic waves in areas within 150km around the epicenter. It was concluded that the special dynamic and geological situations were the main causes for the lower intensity degree and slight damage in the epicenter area,but higher intensity in the surrounding areas.展开更多
