We find that 66% respondents indicated their willingness to understand the genetic information and 79% of respondents mind their own genetic information be aware of by other people. In contrast, 77% of the respondents believe that medical organization are not able to protect personal genetic information from disclose. Hence, it is significant to take some measures to preserve citizen's genetic information privacy. Depending on our results, we put forward our suggestion to this problem.展开更多

Objectives:From the view of everyday practices and the socio-technical coordination lens,this study aimed to analyz the gap between creators’intention and the users’implementation(mainly nursing staff and social wor...Objectives:From the view of everyday practices and the socio-technical coordination lens,this study aimed to analyz the gap between creators’intention and the users’implementation(mainly nursing staff and social workers)of an alert system in assisted living communities.Methods:Qualitative methods were employed by way of five user interviews and focus groups with six system developers.Modeling instruments were applied for data collection to analyze the different clinical workflows versus the expectations of the system development team.Results:Results indicate that the clinical workflow changed over time,which led to a mismatch of nurse care coordination,social practices,and technology use.The results show different mental models of the socio-technical practice.Applying the coordination theory,the following recommendations could be developed to overcome the mismatch.First,it is recommended that nursing staff set goals together.Second,a communication rhythmwith the nursing staff and developer teams should be established,with guided questions to facilitate the conversation,to shed light on the different workflows and the difference in social practices when using sensor technologies or alert systems.Third,a checklist for new employees should be created so they know how and on which devices to use the alert system.Fourth,the user experience with the alert system should be improved(e.g.,an improved user interface).Conclusions:This work indicates recommendations to close the mental model gap to overcome the mismatch between optimal use of the alert system and how the nursing staff is actually using it.展开更多

FeliCa cards and card readers are used to obtain the number and condition of patients. The system is composed of two elements. First, the number of patients for each triage level and the accepted number of patients in each diagnosis and treatment department are obtained in real time, including response for changing triage level. Second, this information is shared in real time among hospitals, the admim'stration, and residents who are searching for their family. A disaster drill utilizing this system was held at the University of Yamanashi Hospital with 450 participants. From the result of that, the present system could work for those two elements. The authors investigate the decoding perform-nance of Spread Spectrum (SS) embedding algorithm in the standard Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel with the host signal being modeled as AR process. The SS embedding algorithm also use linear interference cancelation in the subspace spanned by watermark pattern. They study the influence of design parameters on the decoding performance. The analytic result is verified by Monte Carlo simulation on synthesized AR process. The result may be helpful to design watermarking system for speech, biomedical and image signals.展开更多

A knn-classier was used to classify feature vectors. Results: Not all the elements in feature vector DimDC were very powerful for this pattern recognition problem through the empirical study of noise signals. We used this estimator to construct a prior model of the image intensity and curvature profile of the s...A method of medical image segmentation based on support vector machine (SVM) for density estimation is presented. We used this estimator to construct a prior model of the image intensity and curvature profile of the structure from training images. When segmenting a novel image similar to the training images, the technique of narrow level set method is used. The higher dimensional surface evolution metric is defined by the prior model instead of by energy minimization function. This method offers several advantages. First, SVM for density estimation is consistent and its solution is sparse. Second, compared to the traditional level set methods, this method incorporates shape information on the object to be segmented into the segmentation process. Segmentation results are demonstrated on synthetic images, MR images and ultrasonic images.展开更多

With PSoC family member CY8C29466,the system completed operational and instrument amplifiers, filters, timers, AD convertors, and serial communication, etc. The signal processing was dealt with virtual instrument technology. All of these factors can significantly affect the price and development cycle of the project. The result showed that the system was able to record and analyze neural extrocellular discharge generated by neurons continuously for a week or more. This is very useful for the interdisciplinary research of neuroscience and information engineering technique. The circuits and architecture of the devices can be adapted for neurobiology and research with other small animals.展开更多
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the continuation of eardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following transportation to the emergency department in a Chinese hospital after unsuccessful emergency medical services ...Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the continuation of eardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following transportation to the emergency department in a Chinese hospital after unsuccessful emergency medical services (EMS) CPR. Methods From January 2002 to December 2007, emergency records of non-traumatic patients who were transported to a tertiary teaching hospital after unsuccessful EMS CPR were reviewed. Results Eigty-five patients were included, and 13 patients (15%) accomplished restoration of spontaneous circulation in our emergency department. Resuscitative possibility reached zero at around 23 minutes. One patient was discharged with a favourable neurologic outcome. Conclusions This study shows that the continuation of CPR is not futile and may improve outcomes. The outcomes should be re-evaluated in the future when prehospital information can be combined with in-hospital information (J Geriatr Cardio12009; 6:142-146).展开更多
