Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) are used to obtain morphological imaging data. Functional imaging data, such as the spectrum and blood flow changes are obtained by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) and CT perfusion (CTP). Results show that PD rat models have no characteristic morphological imaging abnormalities, but exist regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) reductions and spectral changes in the striatum.展开更多

Traditional radiological techniques (small bowel enteroclysis and small bowel follow-through) have long been the only suitable methods for this purpose. In recent years, several alternative imaging techniques have been proposed. To review the most recent advances in imaging studies of the small bowel, with particular reference to their possible application in Crohn's disease, we conducted a complete review of the most important studies in which traditional and newer imaging methods were performed and compared in patients with Crohn's disease. Several radiological and endoscopic techniques are now available for the study of the small bowel; each of them is characterized by a distinct profile of favourable and unfavourable features. In some cases, they may also be used as complementary rather than alternative techniques. In everyday practice, the choice of the technique to be used stands upon its availability and a careful evaluation of diagnostic accuracy, clinical usefulness, safety and cost. The recent development ofinnovative imaging techniques has opened a new and exciting area in the exploration of the small bowel in Crohn's disease patients.展开更多

Twenty- eight strains of biofilm-negative Staphylococcus epidermidis, of which thirteen strains considered as the clinical strains were isolated from catheters, blood and urine of patients in Huashan Hospital (Shanghai, China) and fifteen strains considered as commensal strains were isolated from the skin of healthy students who had no contact with hospitals in recent half year, were investigated for the adherence to human umbilical vein endothelial cell line ECV304 and human cervical adenocarcinoma cell line Hela, respectively. Our results showed that the clinical strains were much more adhesive to both cells than commensal ones. The endothelial adherence may be a virulence factor associated with this bacterial pathogenesis.展开更多
