H pyloristatus was assessed by 13C-urea breath test (UBT).Stool specimens were tested using either the rapidimmunoassay kit or the laboratory immunoassay kit.RESULTS: Forty-three patients were infected and 79non-infected. Sensitivity and specificity of ImmunoCardSTAT and Hp StAR were 58.14% and 76.4%, and97.47% and 98.73%, respectively (P > 0.05). Overallagreement between the two tests was 92.6% (113 of122 cases).CONCLUSION: ImmunoCard STAT seems to haverather low performances, and it cannot be regarded as areliable tool in the post-treatment setting. Also Hp StARcannot be recommended to confirm H pylori eradicationafter treatment.展开更多

Th...Traditionally, differentiation of syndromes of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) mainly depends on the information obtained from four diagnosis methods. Now many physicochemical parameters are available in clinic. There exists great correlation between TCM syndromes and physicochemical parameters. The objective of the paper is to analyze the correlation between TCM syndromes and physicochemical parameters quantitatively. Correlation analysis has been widely studied and many analysis methods have been developed. Mutual information based on entropy can measure arbitrary dependence between variables. It has been applied to many kinds of fields, especially to pattern recognition. But most works are restricted to discrete variables and little work has been done to study the relation between discrete and continuous variables. A novel algorithm is proposed to calculate the mutual information between discrete and continuous variables. It is used to analyze the correlation between TCM syndromes and physicochemical parameters.展开更多
Three-dimensional medical image visualization becomes an essential part for medical field, including computer aided diagnosis, surgery planning and simulation, artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teach...Three-dimensional medical image visualization becomes an essential part for medical field, including computer aided diagnosis, surgery planning and simulation, artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teaching etc. In this paper, marching cubes algorithm is adopted to reconstruct the 3-D images for the CT image sequence in DICOM format under theVC++6.0 and the visual package VTK platform. The relatively simple interactive operations such as rotation and transfer can be realized on the platform. Moreover, the normal vector and interior point are calculated to form the virtual clipping plane, which is then used to incise the 3-D object. Information of the virtual slice can be obtained, in the mean while the virtual slice images are displayed on the screen. The technique can realize the real time interaction extraction of virtual slice on 3-D CT image. The cuboids structured can be zoomed, moved and eircumrotated by operating mouse to incise the 3-D reconstruction object. Real time interaction can be realized by clipping the reconstruction object. The coordinates can be acquired by the mouse clicking in the 3D space, to realize the point mouse pick-up as well angle and distance interactive measurement. We can get quantitative information about 3-D images through measurement.展开更多

Methods: MRI examination on temporomandibular joint was conducted in 28 patients with indirect inju...Objective: To discuss the application of MRI in indirect temporomandibular joint injury without condylar fracture. Methods: MRI examination on temporomandibular joint was conducted in 28 patients with indirect injury to temporomandibular joint without condylar fracture. The scanning sequence included TIWI, PDWI on oblique sagittal section at both open and closed mouth positions, and T1WI, T2WI on oblique coronal section. The MRI appearance was analyzed by 2 senior radiologists. Results: Among the 56 temporomandibular joints of28 patients, 35 joints exhibited pathological changes on MRI, in which there were 9 bone injuries, 21 articular disc dislocation, 24 intracapsular hematocele and hydrops. Conclusions: MRI can clearly reveal bone injury, articular disc dislocation as well as articular capsule abnormality in the indirect injury of temporomandibular joint without condylar fracture. It is highly advocated in clinical use.展开更多
