Influence mechani...Surface tensions of slag addition Mg O and Si O2 based on conventional 70%CaF 2-30%Al2O3 and 60%Ca F2-20%Ca O-20%Al2O3(mass fraction) at 1300 °C, 1400 °C and 1500 °C were investigated. Influence mechanism of Mg O and Si O2 on slag surface tension was also analyzed. Results indicate that surface tension decreases with the increase of Mg O content in the case of the Mg O content(mass fraction) less than 8%, however, when Mg O content(mass fraction) is from 8% to 30%, surface tension increases with the increase of Mg O content. When Si O2 content(mass fraction) is from 2% to 8%, surface tension decreases with the increase of Si O2 content. Additionally, the relationship between surface tension and optical basicity is a monotonically increasing linear function. Research findings can provide important reference for slag design and the study of slag-metal interfacial tension.展开更多

Drawing on the rich literature on the teacher cognition in grammar, this study borrows some relevant insights ...This study examines the relationship between discourse intonation (henceforth DI) and teacher cognition. Drawing on the rich literature on the teacher cognition in grammar, this study borrows some relevant insights for a better understanding of the relationship between teacher cognition and DI. Following a qualitative treatment, the study concludes that instruction on D1 is a dynamic debate fed by both teacher training and teachers' experience of teaching and learning in general, which leads into suggesting the need for any teacher training on DI to take into account both DI knowledge as well as teacher core and peripheral belief. The contribution of the study lies in its tapping of a relatively poorly investigated area and offering advances on the many negative or simplistic teacher attitudes regarding intonation instruction as expressed in the literature, as well as in bringing to the surfaces something which teachers sometimes are not explicitly aware of.展开更多

Based on the model, we re-investigate the excitation mechanism and thermodynamic properties of the Heisenberg ferromagnet. In this paper it is assumed that a job incurs no penalty as long as it is completed within the common due window. It is the first time for the due window scheduling to be extended to this situation so that jobs can be processed in batches. An unbounded version of batch scheduling is also considered. Hence, jobs, no matter how many there are, can be processed in a batch once the machine is free. For two cases that the location of due window is either a decision variable or a given parameter, polynomial algorithms are proposed based on several optimal properties.展开更多
Dispersible FePt intermetallic nanopartides (NPs) with tunable composition were synthesized by thermal annealing of MgO coated A1-FePt (or A1-FePt-Fe304) NPs followed by an acid treatment to remove MgO. High-tem- ...Dispersible FePt intermetallic nanopartides (NPs) with tunable composition were synthesized by thermal annealing of MgO coated A1-FePt (or A1-FePt-Fe304) NPs followed by an acid treatment to remove MgO. High-tem- perature annealing facilitates the conversion of FePt from disordered alloy to ordered intermetaUics. Under the protec- tion of MgO, the diffusion of Fe and Pt atoms was limited, making it possible for the atom reconstruction in the lattice to give discrete FePt intermetaUic NPs after a facile acid etching process. FePt intermetallic NPs formed face-centered cubic and face-centered tetragonal structures with their magnetic properties tuned by composition. The saturation magnetiza- tion was adjusted from 8 to 52 emu g^-1 by increasing the Fe concentration, while the coercivity reached a max/mum of 33 kOe when Fe concentration was 44%. After surface mod- ifications by hydrophilic or hydrophobic molecules containing thiol groups, FePt intermetallic NPs could be dissolved into water or hydrocarbon solvents. The hydrophilic L10-FePt in- termetallic NPs were applied as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging, showing a high transverse relaxivity of 328.6 mmo1^-1 L s^-l, which indicated the great potential of FePt intermetallic NPs as molecular probes for cancer diagnosis.展开更多
Purpose: In Iran, the most common cause of injuries and the second leading cause of deaths are traffic accidents, and those problems impose a substantial financial burden on the society. This study aims to determine ...Purpose: In Iran, the most common cause of injuries and the second leading cause of deaths are traffic accidents, and those problems impose a substantial financial burden on the society. This study aims to determine traffic accident mortality trends and their epidemiologic characteristics in the Kermanshah province, west of lran. Methods: In a cross sectional study, road traffic fatality data from 2004 to 2013 were analyzed to determine the epidemiological pattern of traffic accident mortality. Trend assessment was performed to ascertain the decreasing or increasing status. Chi-square and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests, as well as Poisson regression were used to determine the significance of the data in time. Data were analyzed using Excel and statistical package of SPSS version 19. Results: Out of 5110 people that died in traffic accidents, 4024 (78.7%) were males. The state of accidents indicated that 404 (43.8%) female pedestrians died as a result of car crashes, and 1330 (41.4%) males died because of car collisions. 1554 (31.9%) deaths happened to pedestrians and 1556 (32.1%) to vehicle drivers, and the rest belonged to vehicle passengers. Head trauma was the cause of death for as much as 3400 (69.9%) cases. Fatal crashes in which pedestrians were involved mostly occurred between the hours 13:00 to 15:00, while the time for vehicle drivers was between 16:00 to 18:00. 2882 people (59.1%) died before reaching to health care facilities. Traffic crash mortality trend for pedestrians follows a linear pattern with a gentle downward slope, but the trend shows various swings when it comes to vehicle drivers. Conclusion: The number of traffic crash deaths from 2004 to 2013 indicates a decreasing trend in two groups of road users: vehicle drivers and car occupants. This can be due to some interventions such as modification of traffic rules and enhancement of police control which has been implemented in recent years. Moreover, more attention should be paid to promote the optimal health care services to save the lives of the injured from traffic accidents.展开更多

The analys...We study the global dynamics of a nonlocal population model with age structure in a bounded domain. We mainly concern with the case where the birth rate decreases as the mature population size become large. The analysis is rather subtle and it is inadequate to apply the powerful theory of monotone dynamical systems. By using the method of super-sub solutions, combined with the careful analysis of the kernel function in the nonlocal term, we prove nonexistence, existence and uniqueness of positive steady states of the model.Moreover, due to the mature individuals do not diffuse, the solution semiflow to the model is not compact. To overcome the difficulty of non-compactness in describing the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state, we first establish an appropriate comparison principle. With the help of the comparison principle,we can employ the theory of dissipative systems to obtain the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state. The main results are illustrated with the nonlocal Nicholson's blowflies equation and the nonlocal Mackey-Glass equation.展开更多
