In this study, we demonstrate the differences of genetic diversity levels between wild and captive individuals of Elliot’s Pheasant Syrmaticus ellioti. Wild individuals showed a higher genetic diversity level than that of the captive individuals. Nucleotide diversity and haplotype diversity of wild individuals were 0.00628 and 0.993, while those of captive individuals were 0.00150 and 0.584 respectively. Only 3 haplotypes of mtDNA control region sequence were identified among 36 captive individuals, while 16 unique haplotypes were identified among the 17 wild individuals in this study. One captive haplotype was shared by a wild individual from Anhui Province. It is concluded that a low number of founders was the likely reason for the lower level genetic diversity of the captive group. Careful genetic man- agement is suggested for captive populations, particularly of such an endangered species, to maintain genetic variability levels.展开更多

Quercetin-PVP solid dispersion was prepared to enhance its solubility and dissolution rate. Solid dispersion, suspending agents, osmotic agents and other conventional excipients were used as tablet core composition and cellulose acetate (CA) with plasticizer as release controlling membrane. Different formulation variables, the amounts of PEO (polyethylene oxide), NaC1, plasticizer, and coating weight gain were optimized to gain the optimum formulation. The mechanism of drug release from monolithic osmotic tablet was also discussed. The optimal monolithic osmotic pump tablet could deliver quercetin at the rate of approximate zero-order up to 12 h, and the cumulative release was 90.74%. The developed monolithic osmotic system for quercetin loaded by solid dispersion was found to be a promising approach for controlled release of poorly-water soluble drug candidates.展开更多

Here we demonstrate a simple approach to prepare POSS-embedded supramolecular hyperbranched polymers(POSS-SHPs) with varied morphology and size by controlling monomer concentration and mixed solvents. The SHPs formations can further transfer into the core-shell structured micelles by addition of competitive guests based on the double supramolecular driving forces.展开更多

The effects of the solvents are modeled by pairwise interaction between polymer monomers in this approach. Using the umbrella sampling, we calculate the effective potential U(r) between two ring polymers as well as the second virial coefficient A_2 of ring polymers at θ_L, which results from a combination of 3-body interactions and topological constraints. The trend in the strength of the effective potential with respect to chain length shows a non-monotonic behavior, differently from that caused only by topological constraints. Our simulation suggests that there are three regimes about the scaling behavior of A_2 of ring polymers at θ_L: 3-body interactions dominating regime, the crossover regime, and the topological constraints dominating regime.展开更多
