According to legend, Tianhou (the queen of the heaven) was originally named as Lin Mo. On 23rd, March, 960 (the first year of Jianlong, Song dynasty), she was born at Meizhou Island, Putian, Fujian Province. Being clever and brave from her early age, she often saved drown people from the sea and could be called the first "life guard on the sea". On 9th, Sep., 987 (the fourth year of Yongxi, Song dynasty), she died on saving others at an age of 28. "If one always help others, one would become a fairy after death".
