The unsteady pressure distribution on stator blades is measured under the conditions of different axial spacing between the rotor and the stator, different rotating speeds and an extensive range of the mass flow. Amplitudes and frequencies of aerodynamic forces are analyzed by the Fourier transform. Experimental results show that under the effect of the rotor wake, the dominant frequencies of pressure fluctuations on stator blades are the rotor blade passing frequency (BPF) and its harmonics. The higher harmonics of the rotor BPF in the fore part of the suction side are more prominent than that in the other parts of the stator blade. Otherwise, fluctuations of the pressure and the aerodynamic force on stator blades vary with the mass flow, the rotating speed and the axial spacing between the rotor and the stator.展开更多

Here, the effects of different disturbance regimes, along a gradient, on diversity and dominance of five Shorea robusta Gaertn. f.-dominated forests were investigated in 25 one-ha plots in Nepal. A total of 67 tree species were recorded; of which 41 species were encountered in least disturbed and 10 species in beavily disturbed forest. Significant variations among forests were observed for all measures of alpha diversity. Alpha diversity measures declined linearly along a disturbance gradient while dominance increased linearly. Relative basal area of S. robusta increased as the level of disturbance increased, which in turn produced more than two-fold higher important value index in heavily disturbed forest than the least disturbed forest. All alpha diversity measures declined in an order of three with increasing relative basal area of S. robusta. The similarity in species composition between each pair of disturbed forests was generally low (Jaccard's similarity index 〈 57%), suggesting a higher Beta diversity, It can be concluded that diversity of Sal forests declines with increasing magnitude of disturbance, which in turn favors a higher domi- nance of S. robusta. Controlling the population of the dominant species, mainly S. robusta, is recommended to enhance diversity and to achieve multiple-use forest management objectives.展开更多

Thus, a thorough understanding of the deformation and failure processes of coal is necessary. In this study, the energy dissipation rate is proposed as a novel indicator of coal deformation and failure under static and dynamic compressive loads. The relationship between stress-strain, uniaxial compressive strength, displacement rate, loading rate, fractal dimension, and energy dissipation rate was investigated through experiments conducted using the MTS C60 tests(static loads) and split Hopkinson pressure bar system(dynamic loads). The results show that the energy dissipation rate peaks are associated with stress drop during coal deformation, and also positively related to the uniaxial compressive strength. A higher displacement rate of quasi-static loads leads to an initial increase and then a decrease in energy dissipation rate, whereas a higher loading rate of dynamic loads results in larger energy dissipation rate. Theoretical analysis indicates that a sudden increase in energy dissipation rate suggests partial fracture occurring within coal under both quasi-static and dynamic loads. Hence, the energy dissipation rate is an essential indicator of partial fracture and final failure within coal, as well as a prospective precursor for catastrophic failure in coal mine.展开更多

Recently, increasingly numerous application layer data traffic makes MDCBAN be facing serious communication pressure. In addition, large density of meter data collection devices scattered in the limited geographical space of high rises results in obvious communication interference. To solve these problems, a traffic scheduling mechanism based on interference avoidance for meter data collection in MDCBAN is proposed. Firstly, the characteristics of network topology are analyzed and the corresponding traffic distribution model is proposed. Next, a wireless multi-channel selection scheme for different Floor Gateways and a single-channel time unit assignment scheme for data collection devices in the same Floor Network are proposed to avoid interference. At last, a data balanced traffic scheduling algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that balanced traffic distribution and highly efficient and reliable data transmission can be achieved on the basis of effective interference avoidance between data collection devices.展开更多

A novel approach has been proposed to eliminate voltage imbalance and disturbances. The main strategy of this scheme is based on series active filter. By improving control circuit toward existing schemes and proposing a new strategy to control the voltage amplitude, simultaneous elimination of voltage imbalance, faults, voltage harmonics and also compensation of voltage drop in transmission lines become possible. Eventually, the voltage on the load side is a perfectly balanced three phase voltage with specific proper amplitude. The proposed scheme has been simulated in a test network and the results show high capability of this scheme for the complete elimination of imbalance without phase shift.展开更多
