Meanwhile, tensile test and microscopic test were adopted for studying the state of interfacial bonding, suggesting that the joint of Ag-Cu has not only strong welding joint but also atomic diffusion on the interface. For Ag-Cu, the interaction of dislocation caused by plastic deformation will cause the strain and the vibration of microconstructer defects, accompanied by emitting energy. The energy increases the atomic action and the amplitude of atomic vibration, and the result is that the atom can diffuse to several lattice parameters deep from interface to inner metals. Therefore, under the condition of chemical potential gradient, the special technique, cold pressure welding rather than basic requirements of diffusion should be taken into account. During the cold pressure welding, plastic deformation plays an important role for it causes the metals′ displacement, crystal defects, further activates the surface atoms. Finally, the fracture of atomic bonding leads to the atomic exchange and diffusion between the new metals′ surfaces. In other words the metals Ag,Cu can achieve solidate bonding by cold pressure welding accompanied by the atomic diffusion. Moreover, theoretical analysis and calculation on the basis of thermodynamics, crystallogy, so- lid physics, etc, have been applied to calculate the amount of atomic diffusion, which has further proved the testing results that joint Ag-Cu has strong bonding strength through the mechanism of atomic diffusion.展开更多

A cohesive clayey silt soil and a cohesionless free sand soil were used. A program of standard Proctor tests, unconfined compression tests and California bearing ratio tests was carried out on specimens of the cohesive soft-tire mixtures, by varying tire chips content from 5% to 20% by weight of the soil. Vibratory compaction tests and direct shear tests were conducted on the cohesioliless soft-tire mixtures by adding tire chips varying from 10% to 50% by weight. The results showed that 13% and 30% chip contents, respectively by weight, were optimum for composite strength of the two reinforced soil mixtttres.展开更多

A series simple shear tests under high stress show that the relationcurve between shear stress and tangential displacement under high normal stress is different from the hyperbolic curve in direct shear tests, and the complete deformation process of interface under high stress can be described as nonlinear elastic-perfect plastic(NEPP). According to some characteristics of the fitting curve, the deficiency of theNEPP was pointed out. The mathematic 'half value index' was used to illustrate thatWeibull distribution with three parameters (WNEPP) can overcome the mathematical deficiencies of the NEPP. The advantage of the WNEPP is that the fitting curve of WNEPPmore accurately coincided with the testing data was testified by further comparison.展开更多

Experimental test schemes, failure modes of specimens, jack load-vertical displacement curves, jack load-deformation of chord and strain intensity distribution curves of joints were presented. The effects of β and connection types on axial compression property of joints were studied. The results show that the ultimate axial compression capacity of common bird beak SHS T-joints and diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is larger than that of traditional SHS T-joint specimens with big values of β. The ultimate axial compression capacity of diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is larger than that of common bird beak SHS T-joints. As β increases, the increase of the ultimate axial compression capacity of diamond bird beak SHS T-joints over that of common bird beak joints grows. The ultimate axial compression capacity and the initial axial stiffness of all kinds of joints increase as β increases, and the initial axial stiffness of the diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is the largest. The ductilities of common bird beak and diamond bird beak SHS T-joints increase as β increases, but the ductility of the traditional SHS T-joints decreases as β increases.展开更多

The most popular is the staking end-flattened connection. The reduced cost and the fast assemblage of the truss are among the advantages of the staking end-flattened connection on 3D trusses. However, such connections present disadvantages like eccentricities and stiffness weakening of the tubular members. In this work, based on computer simulations and experimental lab tests on prototypes, small changes on the staking end-flattened connections such as reinforcement and eccentricity correction are evaluated. The results show an increase of 68% for local collapse and 17% for global collapse in the truss load carrying capacity when the suggested changes proposed in this article are used for the staking end-flattened connections.展开更多

These values were measured in four different oil immersion depths with one kind of potential oil that may be used to replace the current synthetic oil in order to find the reasonable lubricant quantity that meets not only the need of transmission performance but also the need of scuffing resistance for high-speed train gears. For the purpose of evaluating the efficiency of the test gears, there were two sensors added to measure the output torque of testing gears and the compensation torque of motor. The minimum lubrication film thickness at the pitch point was gained through an EHL model. The ratio of the film thickness A was used to identify the friction status when scuffing occurred at different oil levels. The results demonstrated that no matter what kind of the immersion depth was, the minimum film thickness on the pitch point was about 0.1 ~m and the ratio of film thickness was about 1.5 when scuffing occurred. According to the relationship of contact pressure and ratio of film thickness at the pitch point, it was found that the immersion depth of pinion should not be less than one module of the gear when the contact pressure of high-speed train gear at pitch point was about 580 MPa, which was the actual pressure at start-up stage.展开更多
